http://www.educationinternational.org/procedure.htm I used this company to get my CDN high school transcripts evaluated! They were great. I had the required document back before they had even cashed the cheque!!!
I had to take all the pre-reqs before I got accepted into the nursing program! Was a pain in the butt, but I did it! My school offered many of the classes online, which was nice. Was even able to take many of the sciences online, then met now and then for lab on campus.
As wel check with the local hospitals, sometimes they offer to pay for your schooling, and in return you have to work for them for so long---and if ya back out after they paid for ur schooling, then you owe them $$$$$,lol
There is also the diploma route to go in getting your RN's, but they are fewer and fewer of them! Liek any other job, the more "schooling" the better. Many start with the ADN, then go onto their BSN, 1 advantage of that route, is that most employers will assist in paying for your schooling.
And check with your school, they can usually direct you to scholarships, I know mine listed them on their website. I lucked out on getting one scholarship--was sponsored by the Rotary club---About 10 people were on the panel that interviewed me, and most of them were USA Armed forces veterans, so they liked my Cdn military experience. If I can go back to school, anyone can,lol
With regards to the classes taken in BC-----I contacted my old High school, and they mailed me my transcripts, which I then mailed to the above mentioned company! They sent a letter directly to the school, and a copy to me, stating it was equivalent to USA grade 12

you will drive up to the POE dude and say hey dude, im here to ACTIVATE (lol, inside joke) my k1! He will say park ur vehichle over there, or what ever! In Maine I parked my Uhaul and went inside with the Mystery brown envelope and my inventory list! Customs guy barely even looked at my list, never did look in my uhaul!! The Immigration people asked me a few questions, took my pic, and fingerprints and stamped my passport and that was it!!
Since ur a k1'er ensure they give u the I-94--Think someone stated it costs $6 or $7!! U need that for AOS i guess. Chances are they wont look at ur list, but best to have 1 ready. Easier to do it at home, then rushed at POE!!. Enjoy

I'm assuming you meant to "activate it" you have up to the date on the visa--in this case appears Sept 27. Can use it right on that date if you want! Just don't do it on Sept 28th!

Flames9_RN got a reaction from MrsCat in When SSN is coming?
As stated above, one has to wait approx 10-14 BUSINESS days AFTER you enter the USA! Events just don't hsappen right away, its not liek as son as ugive them the brown envelope they ar emadly workign away on it! They have to send it off to the proper destinations, it takes awhile, thus the reason why one has to wait a bit. If you go too early, you wont be in the system at all, and you wil jus thave to come back. Ur proabbly close to the 10 business days, so coul dgive it a try. Ensure u download a form before u go to save u time if ur in the system, BUT no application for a SSN has been received.
