Soloenta reacted to Marrienne in N-400 interview in TWO days. Last wise words?
I really hope I get a good IO.
I am not too worried about the Civics test or the language exam as I was raised bilingual (Greek/English). I am worried about oh... missing a paper or something. I read somewhere here, someone was asked for the lifting of conditions paper and for the life of me I can't find it anywhere. We had a flooded basement a few years back and I lost a lot of paperwork must have been one of them that was completely ruined. And there is no copy of it in my online account, only case updates as I had filled via snail mail. Eeek!!

Thanks everyone!!
I forgot to add, I did not file under the 3 year rule. I have been here 7 years, so it is filed under being here for over 5 years

Don't worry. Wife said it was easy. If you know the 100 questions, you will be fine. Congratulations!!! This is a great, great achievement!!! Escaping the grasp of USCIS is wonderful!!

Soloenta reacted to alex01 in Immigrant visa declined under public charge
They really make it complicated. I guess co-sponsor is not enough to bypass the public charge .

His co-sponsor makes over 150 k per year. Way over what is required

Refused does not mean denied. Did the consulate request a co-sponsor?

Soloenta got a reaction from AKN2 in Bomb drop...in-laws want to immigrate to USA. HELP
I'm so sorry your going through this. I'm Ecuadorian and all South Americans are very close to our family's.
I can tell you this, if you sponsor your mother in law prepare to see her every day until one of you die! I would speak seriously with your wife as you have so eloquently have here. It's not your fault and you have the right to refuse. Your MIL is in a good place in Colombia, it's not like she's living in the streets like you will if she comes to live with you. Just let your wife know it's impassible and let her break the news to them. Let the sister in law know that it takes 10 to 15 years minimum.
If your lucky they wont stay the 2 months.
I wish you and your wife all the best. Tell her, "Al mal paso prisa" which means if your going to take a bad step do it quickly! Get it over with. 🙏

Thank you so much, so happy for you. Unfortunately for us it's at the L.A. Field office. But I'm going anyway, just no guests. I might get lucky and there will be a kind immigration person that will let me in. Don't have much hope, but will give it a good try.
Thank you again for your very important input, I truly appreciate it. 🤗💜🤗

Just chiming in to say that my husband's ceremony was hosted at a university. The notification we received from USCIS about the ceremony did not indicate that he could bring guests; actually it said you may be limited in who you may bring with you, but it looked like a standard form letter. I contacted the university and they told me it was an event open to the public and there was no limit on the number of guests that could come. Including myself we had a total of 12 guests. The ceremony was actually quite special, and worth attending.
If your ceremony is at a USCIS field office, it's probably a different story.

I agree, they made our life a living hell. This would be a tiny compensation for making us suffer. 🤗

It’s such a big milestone. Would have been wonderful to have your loved ones along. Oh well, outside the building and straight to celebration lunch after that will do as well.

The Dallas field office is not currently allowing visitors. My wife has her oath in a few days and this is what it says:
Who should come with you? - You may be limited in who may attend your appointment with you in person.
If you do not speak English fluently and are eligible to take the appointment in a language other than English, you should arrange to have an interpreter come with you to the appointment or be available via phone. If you need a Sign Language Interpreter or Certified Deaf Interpreter, call the USCIS Contact Center at 1-800-375-5283 as soon as possible. Your attorney or authorized representative may come with you to the appointment or be available via phone. If you have a disability and have an individual who assists you, that individual may come with you. No mention of anyone else being able to attend.

I hope you get to be there with your partner. To clarify your post, the ceremony has been scheduled for Nov 21, 2023? Almost a year from now 😱 I see your title has 2022 on it but it is already Dec 15...

LA - not sure
Houston - I attended but they didnt let me in. It doesn’t take long, I advise to go. At least you can flip the building off as a team on the way to the parking exit.

Soloenta reacted to JLang in HR Complaint
Thank you OldUser. It is not a criminal charge but a complaint to HR by vindictive colleagues. HR dismissed it.

Unless it's a criminal charge or something that got reported to police, you don't have to disclose it. Did it even get outside of university? If not, then I wouldn't worry
