K-1 Process Clarification
MalloryCat replied to cirenebrown's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
i believe the 60 day quote came from an email response to an inquiry someone made to the NVC. with USCIS processing cases much faster, the NVC is probably experiencing more delays, that is probably why it is taking longer to get a case number. regardless of their timeframes they list. -
Packet 3 Johannesburg
MalloryCat replied to tinubiyi's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
Despite the K-1 visa being a non-immigrant visa, all of processing of it is handled by the immigrant visas section of the embassy. It is confusing and doesn't make a ton of sense. So for your next steps, proceed under the immigrant visa section. I would disregard any info you got about doing the ds-260 and the i-864. As those are not for the K-1 visa -
K-1 Process Clarification
MalloryCat replied to cirenebrown's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
NVC will only contact the beneficiary (foreign fiance) not the petitioner (USC) through the mail. There is nothing you upload to the NVC. uploading things to the NVC does not apply for the K-1 visa. NVC will process your petition and assign it a case number and then send it to the embassy you listed on your petition. You can contact the NVC after 30days/4 weeks from when USCIS sent your petition to the NVC, if the foreign fiance hasnt received a letter from them with the case number yet you can check the NVC timeframes here https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/nvc-timeframes.html yes, once the embassy receives your petition they will send information to the foreign fiance (sometimes referred to as packet 3) with the next steps of the process. -
Need help! K1 Montreal consulate welcome letter stolen
MalloryCat replied to randomuser122333's topic in Canada
Have you followed the information here? https://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Canada&cty=Montreal It shows an actually inquiry form for immigrant visas. Or maybe have your fiance try contacting them. Maybe they can get more information -
Need help! K1 Montreal consulate welcome letter stolen
MalloryCat replied to randomuser122333's topic in Canada
i would suggest submitting an inquiry to the embassy. they may be able to email it to you. i would say you think it got lost in the mail/accidentally thrown out by a member of your household. but youre right they more than likely dont have your email address if you fiances email was the one on the e-notification form -
Frankfurt Email (Split topic)
MalloryCat replied to Adventurous-March's topic in Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)
have you received packet 3 yet? packet 3 has all of the information with how to email your DS-160 confirmation. you should wait until you have that before you proceed with the next steps. -
Frankfurt Email (Split topic)
MalloryCat replied to Adventurous-March's topic in Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)
you should start a new thread if you have questions or search through the forums more, there is a lot of information regarding that -
at this point the foreign fiance needs to wait to hear from the embassy with more information this is typically called packet 3 https://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Indonesia&cty=Jakarta i would suggest looking through the Indonesia forums to get the most updated information from others who are going through the same embassy https://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/90-asia-east-and-pacific/

Questions on Supporting Evidence for I-134
MalloryCat replied to Rosaly's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
my fiance had his interview this morning (APPROVED!!!) and because of the heat he ended up wearing jean shorts. I think as long as you look somewhat put together (no sweatpants 😂) i think you should be fine -
the only "time limit" is the validity date on youre NOA2. technically the approval is valid for 4 months. embassies typically automatically extend the validity dates (4 months at a time for up to a year). if you wont be scheduling the interview until after that validity date, i would suggest contacting the embassy to make sure they will extend your validity date.

Ds-160 question about pamphlet
MalloryCat replied to summer4042's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
the DS-160 is valid for 1 year after being submitted. so you can fill it out and submit it now, just make sure you print out some copies of the confirmation. you need to bring a copy with you to the medical appointment and to the visa interview. if you dont hear anything from the embassy after a month, i would suggest submitting an inquiry to them. they should be sending you "packet 3" that has all the information for the next steps -
NVC to Embassy
MalloryCat replied to DBiddle's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports
if you havent heard from the nvc yet with your case number (been over 30 days) you can submit an inquiry to them to get the case number. they could have it processed but havent sent it to the embassy yet -

Hepatitis B Question
MalloryCat replied to SL2024's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
from the USCIS website: "Q. Certain vaccine series can only be completed with multiple visits to the civil surgeon. Am I required to complete the entire series before the civil surgeon can sign the Form I-693? A. You are only required to receive a single dose of each vaccine when you visit the civil surgeon. You are encouraged to follow up with your private health care provider to complete the series." https://www.uscis.gov/tools/designated-civil-surgeons/vaccination-requirements also from the CDC website: " Vaccine series have minimum age requirements and typically require months to years to complete. Therefore, it is usually not possible for applicants to receive all vaccinations for the diseases listed above prior to adjustment of status, and they are instead required to receive from the civil surgeon at least one dose of each age-appropriate vaccine listed in Table 1 for which the applicant is not currently up to date. If the applicant is up to date on the required vaccines listed in Table 1, no additional vaccines are required to be given at the time of the medical exam. " https://www.cdc.gov/immigrant-refugee-health/hcp/civil-surgeons/vaccination.html So no, you dont have to complete the full series in order to adjust status. you just need proof that you have received at least one dose. which would be on form DS-3025 that you should have gotten from the doctor at your medical exam. -
129f approved, what now?

I don't blame you I was also very impatient 😂 -
129f approved, what now?
MalloryCat replied to Sara-zm's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
USCIS sends petitions to the NVC only on certain days every month (I saw a calendar somewhere on this site that showed that, but i cant find it now. but I believe it was every 2 weeks). So them waiting until the 25th to send yours makes sense. they had probably just sent out a batch a few days before yours was approved -
Joint Sponsorship
MalloryCat replied to mar24's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports
if he has a permanent full time job where his annual income is more than the poverty guidelines thats what matters. its what he's making now. so a current W-2, recent paystubs, and a letter from his employer confirming his income will be enough. what is the actual likely hood that you'll get sued for something? probably very slim im guessing lol -
packet 3 comes from the embassy. it is a letter that includes information on the next steps of your visa process, sometimes an additional form to fill out (Frankfurt sends an additional form), and in our case a copy of our approved I-129f. packet 3 gets sent to the foreign fiance a few weeks after the case arrives at the embassy. if your case has been at the embassy for over a month (has a "ready" status on the CEAC tracking) then i would suggest contacting the embassy about getting your packet 3 emailed to the foreign fiance. I would use Frankfurts visa navigator so you can correctly email the right people at the embassy https://tinyurl.com/FrankfurtVisas/ but you wont be able to continue forward without emailing your DS-160 confirmation to the embassy. you should wait until the foreign fiance receives packet 3. your submitted DS-160 is good for 1 year, so its not a big deal that is has already been submitted and paid for.

I-129F Confusion
MalloryCat replied to Dilshad2024's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports
Realistically they probably only send someone to pick up everything from the lock box once maybe twice a week. It's the government, everything takes long lol -
scheduling the appointment
MalloryCat replied to Sara-zm's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
yea it probably recognizes that the subject line doesnt match up with all of their premade ones, so it just auto sends something. i doubt anyone even looks at those lol pretty sure my fiance heard back very quickly once he emailed his DS-160, it might have even been next day i think? i could be wrong though as long as the subject line is right, someone will definitely see and you'll hear back soon, dont stress too much. Scheduling an interview at the Frankfurt embassy is pretty easy and they (usually) have a ton of openings for interviews. -
scheduling the appointment
MalloryCat replied to Sara-zm's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
oh im sorry, its been awhile since i looked at my fiances letter. I did however just look at it, and its capital "i"22. (so it should look like I22) not 122 I wish they picked a different font for this letter cause its ridiculous how close the I and 1 look to each other lol (unless they messed up and made a typo lol) if you send another email with the I22, you should be fine -
scheduling the appointment
MalloryCat replied to Sara-zm's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
that is strange... the letter definitely doesn't say anything about the visa navigator. as long as you used the email in the letter and the subject line they tell you to use, it should have gone through fine. it should be I77 (capital "i" im pretty sure) but then yea you can send another email -

MalloryCat replied to Sara-zm's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
have you received packet 3 yet? the letter in packet 3 tells you exactly what email and what subject line to use when sending them your DS-160 confirmation
