  1. more than likely everything immigration related is gonna slow down because of the current administration
  2. from the Alaska government site "Proof of your Legal name, Date of Birth, and lawful presence (called the "primary document") These documents are acceptable for proving your legal name and date of birth. Please bring one: An original or certified copy of a U.S. birth certificate from Vital Statistics. Passport or passport card issued by the United States or US Territory. A foreign passport with appropriate immigration status forms issued by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service. A resident alien, temporary resident alien, or employment work authorization document issued by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service." https://dmv.alaska.gov/credential-services/your-first-alaska-drivers-license/ he will need at the very least an EAD, as well as a social security card/number you might be able to try again with the AOS receipts. as it says appropriate immigration status forms
  3. make sure to thoroughly read the RFE. but it would say something like "sign/initial and date next to each box you fill out". but if it only says to sign and date, you should be fine to do that in the bottom corner of the page page 12 is just the additional information page, so signing in the bottom corner is where it should go.
  4. my now-husband came over on his K1 in november 2024 at DTW. it was very easy, took all of 5 minutes. no secondary inspection. the only hang up was the officer didn't know exactly what to do and had to get a superior. but that was it. the only thing you give them is the sealed envelope. the x-ray CD is yours to keep, so just keep that with you. and obviously you show them your passport lol
  5. You should do exactly as the RFE is asking of you
  6. you cant trust chatGPT with stuff like this its best to have her fill it out no matter what.
  7. you should include a cover letter yes
  8. he probably can use that address, but you have to think about where you would live once you arrive on the visa. would you be staying with his sister? personally, i think it would be best for the petition as well as for your potential future if he had somewhere for himself. there definitely doesn't need to be an official "engagement" if you are both free to marry and want to marry each other, that is enough no ring or engagement pictures required we got engagement pictures taken after my now-husband arrived on his k1 visa, 10 days before we actually got married so LOL
  9. it doesn't mean have you been together for at least 2 years it just means have you met in person within the last 2 years of the date you filed the petition so if you filed the petition on april 26 2025, you would have had to have met in person at least once sometime between april 27th 2023 and april 26th 2025. if you have, than you answer yes
  10. Husband got is physical EAD in the mail today He's very much looking forward to finally being able to work again lol
  11. the I-765 has to be filed with a certain category. the category for "pending I-485" gives the applicant the legal ability to work while that I-485 is pending.
  12. my husband waited to get his visa in had and booked a round trip ticket cause it was significantly cheaper he got the return ticket canceled (and refunded) a day or 2 after he landed
  13. it is not required for K1 visa holders, so no you don't need to get the I-693 completed if you are filing your AOS within a year of your medical abroad however that doesn't mean USCIS can't send you an RFE for it. it is not uncommon for that to happen. at that point you would have to pay for and get a new medical in the states. any kind of human error could cause your medical not to make it from your POE to USCIS
  14. i mean the DS-3025 is just additional proof that you got the medical exam abroad. but the envelope you gave at your POE (that has your medical in it) would have been attached to your A number and USCIS would have access to it. you can include an additional cover letter with your petition explaining that you got a medical abroad and as a K1 visa holder you don't need to get another medical in the states. that should clue in the officer to look for your medical in your A file. the DS-3025 is something you would include with the cover letter.
  15. it should have been provided to you by the doctor who did your medical abroad if you don't have it you can try contacting them to get a copy from them
  16. awesome! my husbands was approved on the 19th so hopefully that means his card will get produced soon too lol
  17. ok, you filed the I-129f? that is just the petition to the US government to bring your fiance over, the US embassy in Ireland will have final decision on the K1 visa (which is another form your fiance will file when you get to that point, which is the DS-160 and it is technically the application for the actual K1 visa.) but once you get married, he will have to wait until he receives an EAD card to be able to work. but like i said, you file for that at the same time as the greencard application. sometimes the EAD will get approved first, sometimes not. but from what i've seen the EAD typically gets approved before the greencard.
  18. he probably already has the K-1 visa and has just not made the trip yet, or is waiting for his interview once you get married you will apply for AOS (greencard) and an EAD at the same time. I suggest reading through the AOS forum - https://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/7-adjustment-of-status-green-card-from-k1-and-k3-family-based-visas/ current processing time has people getting their EAD approved is about 3.5 months.
  19. youre technically in a "period of authorized stay" and which isn't really a legal status you should carry an ID and a copy of the NOA just in case.
  20. just got the notification that my husbands EAD was approved!! basically exactly a month to the day after his biometrics appointment
  21. my husband (then fiance) came through on his K1 visa in november he had a "do not open" envelope that he had to give to CBP, which he did. I believe he just offered it to the officer at the same time he handed them his passport. I'm not sure they asked for it either. the officer had to get someone higher up cause he wasn't sure what to do. his visa was issued by the Frankfurt embassy. maybe some of them are still choosing to do the physical envelopes?
  22. it shouldn't it shows that you live together, thats what USCIS wants to see is she able to sign the lease after she arrives? thats what we did with my husband (then fiance)
  23. imo it's better to put N/A wherever theres a blank box. I would rather it be filled with something than the USCIS officer thinking I missed the question and then i get an RFE for it.
  24. if that is the case you will more than likely be required to have a civil surgeon fill out the vaccine portion of the I-693 (not redo the whole medical). a lot of civil surgeons don't do that so you would have to look around and find one that would.
