  1. For those at the HK Consulate My DQ was 1 March 2023 Hong Kong Time (HKT) Interview Letter 8 Mar 2023 HKT Appointment 14 Apr 2023 HKT
  2. Understand, in that case submit the latest tax transcript + proof of your pay, that is all they ask for; its just your case is a little different Explain why your taxable income is zero in the comments, or better yet upload an 'official' letter explaining
  3. I'm not an expert but I'm guessing you will have to include proof from the IRS or your own signed statement as to why you don't have to file taxes (if that is the case) Payment advice/stubs of your current non taxable income, 6 months preferably. Make some notes in the NVC section to explain all his to them Joint sponsor can be a backup. As I recently found out, as long as you supply all required financial documents, i.e. proof of income and last tax return (or reason of no filing) then it should come back okay
  4. I just DQ'ed also, submitted 10th of Feb USA time. But.... I have a review note saying my sponsor does not meet minimum requirements, when they do. My wife was a stay at home mum* until recently so had some negative tax returns the past few years (due to a business shes involved in) Does anyone have any experience with this at the interview, will I need to get a sponsor or could I explain the situation to the officer? Peace!
  5. Obviously what you've done is completely no problem but from what I understand it is optional. Did you do it to prove your sponsors income? I just wanted to know so I can understand the process and I guess others in the future could learn from this. Good work on the DQ!
  6. So many people I've seen do this, should I be uploading additional documents? haha I just did the required plus pay stubs, what am I missing
  7. Who knows @Squash ! Could be coming up to shorter than 15 days (or I'm trying to convince myself of it....haha)
  8. @williamprince I don't think so. Reading the i-864 instructions it says "W-2 required for the related return". Something is going on and I'm surprised there is no message. Did you have to supply proof of income or were the tax returns enough? Maybe @pushbrk is better to answer this then
  9. Okay. If you uploaded 2021 Tax Return ensure you have given the same year W-2 and 1099 (if 1099 is applicable for you) [W-2 is mandatory, unless self-employed]. If you have already done 2022, then same thing, but for 2022.... if that makes sense. Easiest for them is IRS tax transcripts, but if its too difficult for your don't worry about that now
  10. @williamprince log on to CEAC portal to find out more information.
  11. There has to be something on CEAC portal - can you post a picture of the explanation. What year tax return did you submit and did you include W-2 and 1099?
  12. From what I've seen here on the forum you will have to wait atleast almost the current processing time again unfortunately. What financial documents did they not approve?
  13. This is worrying for me. My spouse has negative income on some tax returns because an LLC she is part of passes through loses to partners; her current salary is above the threshold. I'll be doing the interview in Hong Kong so wonder if I should be prepared 😐
  14. From what I understand it is different depending on the workload of the Consulate or Embassy. Maybe a social media group or checking on visawhen.com will shed some more info
  15. Alright - I will only tick the employed box and put income as is. Appreciate your help @Jorgedig and @pushbrk
  16. Hello, long time listener, first time caller. My I-130 was recently approved at USCIS and is now being passed over to NVC for that part of the journey. I'm not sure whether this is actually a tough spot in reality or if I'm making it that way, but I was hoping to get some advice from others who are in the same circumstances or who have knowledge with this step of the process. My wife is petitioning for me - she is in a partnership (LLC) in the family business but was stay at home mum for the last three years. She got a job in November 2022 that makes comfortably over the required income level for our household. The problem is, though, that because she didn't have a job and regular income in the last three years, her last two tax returns show a negative value in the total column because the LLC losses are passed through to the partners. 1) Is it acceptable to just tick that she is employed and provide evidence of the income, or is it a requirement for me to also tick she is self employed? 2) Do I have to input the negative income on the form or is 0 (zero) sufficient? [Have seen varying answers] The tax transcripts obviously show the income/loss from the business so I'm not sure if the officer will think I'm trying to conceal anything - just trying to make the process simpler. Thank you for your help!
