I had my interview and everything was fine. But I still got a decision cannot yet be made. Is this normal? I really thought I was going to get a recommendation for approval.  Any thought?

    thanks

Some FO's take time to approve, some approve instantly and some approve and put the applicant in oath and some approve and give oath the same day. All depends on FO and how busy they are at the time of interview, and also depends on how complete your application is...

Just wait a few days to see if they upload the approval/oath letter.

I have a trip outside US 45 days after the N400 interview. Can I have the oath ceremony to be scheduled after I come back from the trip or do they decide the oath ceremony date for us? Has anyone scheduled their ceremony like that?

Oath ceremony dates depends on FO. Phoenix does it every 2 weeks, and some places it takes weeks/months.

But if you get the oath ceremony you can always ask to reschedule.

This was my experience in 2017 in San Jose. Alas no one warned me, and I had to get photos the next day.

Years later I asked my wife's lawyer why, and  the explanation is that the device that prints certificates of naturalization will not print a certificate with the same photo more than 2 times. Extra photos give ISOs an 3rd and 4th opportunity to recover from a printer issue.

I didn't prepare my wife with photos for her (January 31 too) N-400 interview. But we lucked out: Tucson takes new biometrics at reception before proceeding to waiting room.

    Congratulations on your approval.

We (both I and spouse) had our pics taken by the IO after the interview with their phone and showed the present pic vs the old pic and gave us an option for to chose which one to appear on the naturalization certificate. This is from Phoenix, FO.

Thank you! Do you know if your spouse is allowed inside? It'll just be an N-400 interview for me but I was thinking that sitting in the waiting room would be better than waiting in the car.

Let us know how the oath ceremony went.

They will let you in if you have a combo interview (pending I-751) or oath at FO or young kids under care. I sat in the car for my wives interview as they didnt let me in.

I wish! Can't reschedule the work travel however since it's in Philadelphia and I'm in the Northern part of Virginia I'm coordinating with my work to let me take a train to DC for my oath ceremony and then return after

Your work should find an alternate person so you can do to your oath ceremony. I would want mine to be over with rather chance it or move it for later...

Filed N400 for me and my wife on 1/28. No idea how to check my ETA or if my bio will be reused. I’m in Seattle.

Also have no idea if I have to file a N400 separately for my daughter (10 yrs old) or if there is a separate process for children.

Just going with the flow 🫠

If you do not have an account, then you will need to create one. If you already have one (I think you would if you file online), then log into that account, check under documents tab to see the NOA and bio-reuse (if they do) mailers.

If you do not have account, you will get them (NOA and Bio) by USPS and you will get them in 7 - 10 days, or 5+ business days. You should register the account online so you can check to make sure you get interview scheduled letter online, before you get it via usps.

since your daughter is under 18, you DO NOT apply for n-400. Wait for either you or your wife gets naturalized certificate, then apply for her passport/passport card and then claim the citizenship with N-600 ( I believe, some one correct me if I am wrong). She inherits the citizenship from the parents, provided she is under 18 and some other rules.

  7. I attended my interview and 10 days ago I uploaded IRS tax returns on the site as unsolicited evidence.

The officer didnt ask for any and I did tell him I have ton of documents and thought I need to bring, he said he looked over and everything checks out and he didnt need anything.

I uploaded the following as per the app

    1. copy of Marriage Cert

    2. copy of my GC

    3. both kids birth certificate

and then unsolicited evidence of last 5 years of tax transcripts (4 from IRS and 1 year of returns).

Anyone out there applied for their passport already?

I know they say 6-9 weeks from processing.

My husband years ago when he applied for his passport although he chose the standard, it took less than 4 weeks.

I am assuming with covid there may be a back up still...

How long did it take for those who applied?

We applied for my spouse on Nov 23rd and it got approved yesterday. Full 2 months to get this processed and approved and we chose normal processing.

  9. Just finished my interview and got the oath letter for Feb 3rd at US District Court and officer told me that everyone is welcome while to watch.

Started with taking oath to tell the truth, then

    6 questions -

what do we show the loyalty to when we say pledge of allegiance,

what was one thing Abraham Lincoln do,

Name one war fought in 1900

    name 3 original colonies

    how many senators,

    Name one longest river,

    Read:Washington DC is our capital

    Write:Washington was the first president.

Then Yes/No questions.. and then are you willing to questions with yes/no.

took 15 mins, then I asked if I passed, he said everything on his side is good, waiting for the supervisor to approve. Took me to the lobby and told me to wait until he gets me. 10 mins later, he came out and handed me I-652 and said the oath ceremony will be at the court house and wait to get the letter before leaving the lobby. Congratulated me and then waited 30 mins to get the letter in hand.

right after the interview, when I was in the lobby, the online status changed to approved, then later to oath ceremony will be mailed out, and then oath ceremony mailed and saw the date/time 20 mins before I got the official letter.

Another chapter is coming to close, and Phx FO is processing the N-400 within 3-4 months if the cases are standalone.

  10. Update on speeding ticket

    ----------------

I just finished my interview and the officer asked me to clarify why the form said I had an arrest listed. I explained that I put in traffic citation with a date and when the form is completed, it showed the citation date as Date arrested.

Officer concurred that I should list the ticket as it is part of citation question, but they are ONLY looking for serious offenses or issues, not normal speeding.

Anyone reading this, please be truthful and you will get a chance to explain, and that is what I did.

Some chose to not list it and during the interview they bought it up and the officer had to put that in the form.

Choice is yours... but I say from my experience they are not going to deny for an ordinary speeding ticket that is taken care off.
