  1. Doesn't really matter. As you said, not much in it... You would have to show significant assets to do it on your own. As a full time student you definitely need a sponsor, nd hpefully what he/she makes is enough to support his dependents (including you) + additionally your fiance

no. my folks do alright for themselves, that's a non issue.

what i was wondering was if *i* should get a letter from my bank and all those things that my folks are doing. i can. it's not a big deal and would show why we need a co-sponsor i guess. i just dont want to be caught in some sort of stupid perceived lie that will trip us up when the time comes along for them to see the I-134.

    thanks, btw!

  2. can someone tell me where money needs to be spent after the NOA2?

i am having trouble finding when and where and how much the last part of this process will be.

we filled out the DS-160 and the checklist. does any money need to be paid now?

we have such a limited amount of money...i sure would like to budget this thing so i know where we stand :\

    thanks again, guys

  3. hey guys.

i'm a full time student and disabled so i am (very blessed) to have my parents co-sponsor for my fiance.

i realize that i have to fill out an I-134 as well. question 11 (intent) i plan to put that i will give my fiance $100 a week until he can procure a job. my parents give me $200 a week just to help me out.

they also pay for my apartment that my fiance and i will live in.

where in question #7 do i put that i get $200 a week from my folks and does that look suspicious since i put n/a to employment (full time student)?

    what would you do?

thanks in advance. i know this question is a confusing one.

  4. Sorry- I am new to all this and have a question...

Did you print out copies of DS-160(online) with confirmation page and return it with the checklist?? or are you only bringing it to the interview??

    VERY CONFUSED!!!

i did print out multiple copies of ds-160's confirmation page, but i don't know whether to send it or not, now that you're asking. they got it already since it was done online. i think they want it for the interview.

    ANYONE KNOW?

  5. you should definately put permanent

you can't TYPE anything in. you have to put an actual number of years. i guess i could put 50 or 100, but i want to put what they are looking for specifically because we are so close and this stupid question is the last thing i want screwing us up.

Are you sure you have the right form?

DS 160 is intended for nonimmigrant visas such as B2.

    See http://www.usimmigrationsupport.org/form_ds160.htmlv

The online form for spousal and fiance petitions is DS-156

On that form, in box 26 "How long do you intend to stay in the US?" we entered "Permanently"

how long ago did you fill that out?

"DS-160 (NEW): Coming Soon. The new DS-160 Online, Nonimmigrant Visa Electronic Application, will eventually replace current nonimmigrant application forms DS-156, 157, 158, and other related forms, such as the DS-156E, 156K, and 156V. The roll-out of the new DS-160 will be gradual. Therefore, not all U.S. Embassies and Consulates will be required to use the form at the same time. U.S. Embassies and Consulates currently using the new form DS-160 are the following:CANADA: Vancouver and Montreal only, IRELAND: Dublin, LIBYA: Tripoli, MEXICO: Nuevo Laredo, Ciudad Juarez, Matamoros and Monterrey only and Hong Kong S.A.R. Nonimmigrant visa applicants will need to review U.S. Embassy website how-to-apply instructions for more details, as well as these Frequently Asked Questions for using DS-160 Online. Learn More about the form DS-160. Check back later for implementation update announcements. "

our paperwork wants DS-160. and there is no place to write "permanently" or anything else :\

  6. on the online form it asks how long you plan on staying in the united states once you get here. it's not something where you can type in "n/a" or "forever because i'm getting married". it lets you type in (blank) # of years. i'm considering putting in 20 years, but i'm fairly bewildered at the question altogether and the lack of explanation you can give! really bizarre.

has anyone filled this out? how many years did you put?

    thanks in advance, guys!

  7. Weird! I think it all depends on the day and time you are using the site. I've heard stories of a lot of people having problems... it times out, or just stops loading, or rejects the photo even though it meets the guidelines. Completely frustrating! I'd just leave it for now and come back later. When I filled it out it took me about 20 minutes, problem free.

i've tried 3 days in a row :( finally i found an email address and even though i wanted to vent, i calmly left them an email asking to please advise. we'll see if it makes any difference.

  8. so i'm filling out the form online (DS-160) and when it comes to uploading a photo- i get an error page.

so when i go to the "Contact us" link to tell them to get their s**t together- ANOTHER error page.

this is frigging RIDICULOUS. it's like they do this ####### to trip us up and frustrate us.

im so f**king sick of all this bureaucracy. and typing out the same thing not 3 times, but SEVERAL times.

the least these people can do is keep their webpages up to date and free of errors.

    is that so damn hard?

    christ. URGH!!!

  9. The I-134 is submitted to the embassy/consulate along with the rest of the required info after the NOA2 is received.

Parents are worried that your fiance will steal their identity?

All the parent submits is tax transcripts for the past couple of years and an employer letter. All the bank account, etc. info isn't typically needed for the I-134.

Have your folks read through the I-134 and I-864 forms and instructions to learn what is to be submitted and the sponsor's responsibilities? That might help them to better understand the process.

well no. obviously they're not worried about my fiancee, but if the packet got lost or stolen that's a lot of info right there.

he is going to send the first part of the packet, which is the online form, the bio, and the checklist.

i'm assuming the affadavit gets sent after the next round of paperwork gets to him?

  10. i am filling one out, as are my parents (who are co-sponsors) but i'm wondering where in the process this gets sent to the consulate. my parents are pretty wary of sending all their personal financial information.

my fiancee is filling out packet 3. can my parents send this info directly to the consulate or does it need to be sent with other things?

    thanks again you guys!

  11. so my fiancee received the packet from the consulate in montreal and i have a few questions. i've read the timeline and the guides, but i'm still very confused about a few things, so if you would indulge me this once...

step 1: send the DS-230 (biographic data) and the DS-160 (which was not included in the packet) to the consulate FIRST. fill it out and send it back asap.

step 2: gather passport, 5 passport photos, a medical report, and birth certificate.

my question here is- do they want COPIES of this stuff? surely they couldn't take your original passport?

step 3: once they have received the DS-230 pt 1 they will send him an appt date and time.

it says here in the paperwork "Processing time for the K-1 visa at this office is estimated at four to six months from the receipt of this checklist to interview date. (!!!) has anyone had a shorter experience? i was under the impression that the longest we had to wait was for our NOA2 ! :(

    more questions:

do they really mean it when they ask for a list of dates of ALL previous visits to the united states??! ALL PREVIOUS DATES? my fiancee has been visiting back and forth for the past 10 years! i couldn't even begin to remember all of the times and dates! what should we do here?

included in the packet was DS-156K, Nonimmigrant Fiance(e) Visa Application. who fills this out? the wording is confusing to me. it also says to use it with form DS-156 (which was not included in the packet).

lastly, when we go to the interview should we bring the originals of everything we sent photocopied previously?

i know that's a lot of questions, but this is a bit of money we have to spend to pay the fee and get to montreal, so i want to make certain everything is just right.

    thanks in advance, you guys!
