Same boat here! Final part of this journey that has been the most stressful thing I have ever done in my life 😅 This website has been a godsend from start to finish though.
Applied on 4th May, 3 year marriage 90 days early application, received confirmation and biometrics reuse immediately. I hope this goes faster than a recent greencard renewal for my daughter which took 2+ years 😬😅

Hey! So we got to our interview this morning, it was due for 9.25am but they said there was a backlog and expect a wait. I think we went in around an hour later. Anyway we had a really nice guy, very friendly but professional (I was beyond nervous but I didn't fall apart or anything)  . Well we took a whole forest of trees with us to show him. Our lawyer gave them the basics that we had up front (joint credit cards, doctors emergency contact, school contact etc). We were not asked for any supporting evidence other than those things the lawyer gave. He went through the form, we fixed the errors arghhh hehe. Then he really only asked me how my previous spouse passed away, how I met my current husband and a little bit about the wedding. Then he wrapped everything up, the children were not interviewed and he didn't actually ask me any questions from their forms. At the end he gave me a letter that said it was a continuation and that they needed to review it and either 3 things would happen. 1. they would request more information 2. They would issue the cards in the mail 3. They would deny the application. So when we came out I still felt concerned, my husband wasn't worried at all because the interview was a positive experience and the lawyer felt the same way. So at that point I resigned myself to not knowing anything for maybe up to 45 days.
But....I just checked the status of my case online....and cannot believe it...our new cards are being produced!!!
So after telling my family, I wanted to come straight here and thank you again for your enormous help in the most stressful time of my life. Seriously cannot thank you enough.

We are all set, we literally went shopping for suits for the whole family practically ... slightly less formal for the kids but still super smart. They are 11 and 13 and have been requested to attend. We're at the Hartford office and have been told that's standard for them. Thank you!!

@donna777 and last but not least, look your best! We wore suits and so did our lawyer. You could not tell who the lawyer was. USCIS has a class bias. Our attorney told us that and we followed her advice. We were approved the day after the interview.

You're BOTH so welcome! What kind of world would this be if we did not help each other out?
I am glad you're going to draw up a timeline. You'd be surprised how two people can recall dates and events differently. Ask my husband when we got married - he does not know. He knows it was warm. Thus, it had to be summer. LOL. I know it was a Wednesday at 3pm.
You're going to be fine! I can't wait to hear that you got approved and got your 10 year green card.

Yes in all honesty I'm starting to believe its just because our lawyer is useless and probably nearing retirement and doesn't feel like doing it anymore  . I really cant thank you enough for all of your advice, its really helped me an awful lot, so much so that even my husband told me to thank you from him  . I guess we're down to last minute preparations this weekend and then the big day Thursday eeek. I'm going to draw up a timeline also because that seems like a really good idea. Trying to be as organized as possible with thousands of pieces of paper, I think being organized will help hugely. Keep everything crossed for us! Thanks again! and again!

Wow cant express how much you've truly helped calm me back down to a panic
Really useful information here thank you so much, I'm working on the things that you said, since they make perfect sense. I'm going to try the bank again because since they can notarize the wills etc we have to go into the office this weekend anyway , we don't have anything to lose by asking them again and taking everything we have with us. I do have other items that I've received in the mail and I've kept every invoice, letter etc right from the beginning.

Yes I lived in Spain for 9 years prior to moving to the states, but we are actually UK citizens.
    Thank youuuuuu! so so much!

Glad I got you to laugh a little or a lot! It's true, though!
Yes, living wills, wills and power of attorneys are documents every couple should have. Your husband has not been able to add you to his accounts. That's even more reason to have a will. What if something happens? We're in the middle of a pandemic. The wills/health care power of attorney do not have to be uber complicated - just a few specific sentences, sign it in front of a notary public - done. Bring copies for USCIS and keep the originals for yourselves.

Warning - Morbid example follows: If your husband does not want to be hooked up to a ventilator for longer than 30 days because he can't breathe on his own, then that needs to be on paper. If not, watch family members stand in the way of you carrying out your husband's wishes. It's happened. Terry Schiavo.

Again, you established your intent at the POE. Stick to that if it comes up. It is always your word against theirs. Smile every time you answer a question.

The thing with adding someone without a social security number to a bank account is that you have to do it in person. The online system does not allow you to do it. I know that Chase and Bank of America do it because plenty of people have reported that.

Your husband should be able to add you to his health insurance at work even though you do not have a Social Security Number. He could list you as emergency contact on his employee profile and print that.  He should also list you as emergency contact on every type of insurance he has. Print all of that. That's strong evidence.  Credit cards together = strong evidence too. Print all the statements that way you can show longevity there. Beneficiary on your life insurance policy = strong evidence. Hopefully, that policy shows your current address. School records/emergency contacts = strong evidence.  joint taxes - also very strong evidence. If you get any sort of mail at that address, you can show that, too. Sometimes officers ask for mail.

I think you have plenty considering that you do not have a joint bank account. I would still print your husband's bank account statements and look for purchases that relate to your marriage, daily expenses, groceries, trips, etc.

You will be fine. You have plenty. Last but not least, you said you come from Spain? You have a EU passport. It's not written anywhere but USCIS does tend to favor the EU. You're fine.

Thank you. Yes, my life has definitely been interesting up until this point. My previous husband and I had been married for 9 years when he passed, he died suddenly from sudden adult death. I can tell you that changed me and I began living for the absolute minute. I'm lucky because my current husband embraces my previous husband and my children. We are able to talk about him often and that is just one of my husbands endearing qualities. But to think that everything hinges on the interview is just really terrifying . Thanks again!

Yes I've made a complete list of every single tiny thing that is wrong. I have also sent it to the lawyer, and I definitely wouldn't try to go along with it at the interview. I'll definitely take your advice and let them know right away at the interview. We had several forms returned in the beginning for one problem or the other, arghhh this lawyer. I think somewhere they resubmitted these documents and when they wrote them again they just completely messed up. Because it really is so unlike me to have not seen these mistakes. Anyway thank you so much, its a week away now...so guess we'll find out soon enough
