Does your marriage certificate have your husband's last name?

Red = current name, if you took husband's name OR if you never changed your name.

Green = this is where you'll put prior/ maiden name.  If you never changes your name, leave it blank

Thank you. What I have do with my Ukrainian documents? Passport, diplomas, driver's license, do I need to inform the Ukrainian consulate about changing my surname?

  2. Good afternoon,

I need advice from those who have already gone through the procedure for submitting documents after the wedding.  Tell me what to do after filling out form I 485, where it is indicated that I take my husband's surname?  Is this form to be sent further to uscis or do I need to tell somewhere else what to do with my valid Ukrainian documents?

    P.S. I came to America on a K1 visa

    Thank you

Hey:) did you receive a CD with your chest x-ray at the doctor after the exam or just a vaccination sheet or anything else? Thank you😊

    Hi,

I received just a CD with chest x-ray. I don’t remember about vaccinations, we agreed that I would get the vaccines after the wedding, when I was already in the United States.  They sent other medical results and all the documents of our case in a yellow package along with my passport.  This yellow package was opened by a customs officer at the US airport. He didn’t ask me any questions and any questions about CD with chest x-ray.

  4. I got  a visa.  The interview went well.  For start need to enter the embassy through security.  Next, will need to give the passport at the window 19, 20 or 21 and wait to be invited.  Then give the secretary all the necessary documents (a letter stating that you plan to get married within 90 days, evidence of your meetings and something else, I don’t remember).  Then wait for the consul to invite for an interview.  When I was interviewed, there were three consuls, two women and a man.  The women were welcoming and friendly, the man was very strict.  I was lucky, I got to the woman.  I sweared an oath and be fingerprinted.  Then I was asked the following questions: - When did I meet my fiancé?  - How did we meet?  -How and where do we plan to hold our wedding?  -When and how did we understand that we wanted to be together in order to apply for a K1 visa?  When was the last time I saw my fiancé.

    And the most important thing!!!

The deadline for completing our interview was April 12.  And since I passed on April 28, the secretary demanded a second letter from my fiancé that he agrees to marry within 90 days.  It's good that my fiancé was waiting for me near the embassy and I was allowed to go out and that he wrote this letter right away.

Therefore, pay attention, maybe you also need to prepare such a letter in advance.

    Good luck with the interview.

I have completed the I-129f form, however the only thing that bothers me is the fiancé work part. She is a writer on the side and owns her own shop (unrelated to writing), since the shop is unregistered with the government of that country, she doesn't want me to list it. I am worried that if it is not listed in the I-129f that will hurt our chances of approval. She wants me to list only her as a writer. I am considering putting both, but unsure of whether that is the best course of action, as I have never done any of this before.

My advice is to list all jobs. In the form DS 160, which you will fill out in the future, you will also need to indicate your last 2 places of work.

    Thanks for the feedback!

I'm surprised you were able to schedule an appointment so soon.

When did you schedule the appointment?

    When was your appointment date?

    When is your interview date?

In early April, I signed up for a medical examination for May 23, but on April 8-9 I was lucky to moved a medical examination for April 22.  The interview with the consul will be on April 28

I want to share my experience of passing the medical commission.  Maybe my information will be useful to someone.  The medical examination took place today, April 22, 2022. The clinic is located near the railway station.  We rented a hotel 10 minutes walk from the clinic.  When choosing a hotel, you need to be careful, because there is a "red light street" and there are drug addicts and prostitutes, it's very scary, read the reviews.  If you need the name of our hotel, I'll tell you, let me know.

As for the medical examination itself.  The main thing is that you speak German or English or take an interpreter with you.  Also now there is a chat in the telegram channel with ordinary people who are ready to help (If anyone needs it, I can link to this chat). You can arrange for the interpreter to call by video link and thus help.

First you go to the clinic and they give you a number and tell you to go up to the second floor and wait to be invited.

You go to the secretary, she registers you, asks you to sign a document stating that you agree to transfer your information further and asks you to sign another blank sheet (this will be necessary so that in the next office where you go to take tests, just compare your signature, in the same place  you will be asked to duplicate it).
At the secretary you will need to pay a fee of $275. You can do this in cash or by credit card.

The secretary will give you an invoice to attach to your documents.  She will also keep a duplicate of the invoice and documents. After the secretary, you go down to the -1 floor, where they will ask you to give urine, take blood from a vein and do a fluorography.

After that, you will again go up to the secretary, hand over your passport and papers that will be given in the laboratory and will be told to wait for the doctor to invite you.

The doctor asks first about vaccines since childhood.  If you have not been vaccinated with TdaP (diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis) in the last 10 years, he will offer you to do it immediately or when you arrive in the United States if you wish.  If you choose the second option, then you will be able to get this vaccine only after the wedding, but until you receive the final documents.

If you had rubella and varicella, then upon arrival in the USA you will need to be tested for antibodies (my case) or get a vaccine.

Next, they will check your eyesight, ask you to undress to your underwear, take your temperature, check your ears, and listen to your lungs. They will tell you to lie on your back and check your reflexes, just tap your hands and feet with a hammer.

The doctor will once again ask questions that we answered when registering on the doctolib website (do you have psychological problems, have you ever had an alcohol or drug addiction, do you smoke or not).

     This ended the reception.

Then they said that the tests are done in 1-2 days and sent to the USA.  Then the United States, when it brings you to the base, sends documents to Frankfurt.

Further, if the United States does not have time to send documents to your interview.  You take this invoice with documents to the interview.  This will generally confirm that you passed the medical commission.

The tests and examination by the doctor took 15 minutes.

The secretary was very friendly and eager to help.  The doctor did not ask any further questions.

My advice, go every day to the site and check the dates of the apointment.  Sometimes to emerge the emergency dates for the coming days.  It's how lucky I am.

I hope something was clear.  Sorry for the mistakes, I used a translator.

Wow, so you're saying if you had initiated the medical appointment scheduling process on Tuesday, the earliest appointment you could've secured would've been June 29? That's about a 2.5 month delta.

Yes. I think need to hurry up with the registration as the dates are already moving to July.  For example, for Frankfurt you can look here https://www.doctolib.de/gemeinschaftspraxis/frankfurt-am-main/internisten-im-westend/booking/availabilities?motiveIds[]=2932205&placeId=practice-193792&specialityId=1302&utm_campaign=website-button&utm_content=option-8&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=internisten-im-westend-website-button&utm_term=internisten-im-westend

For Berlin, this information is no longer displayed🤦🏼‍♀️

It is working for me today - no changes to my system. Monday was a holiday in Germany. Showed June 29th this morning. Now July 3rd.

My understanding is we cannot schedule the medical until after an interview date is issued by the consulate. Is this correct? How is this going to work?

Yes, first you need to get confirmation that you have an appointment with the consul.  You will then need to bring a copy of this confirmation to the medical examination.

If your documents are already in Frankfurt and you are ready to book a place for an interview.  You need to register on the site.  For example, for Ukrainians https://www.ustraveldocs.com/ua/index.html After you pay the consular fee, dates with free time will open and you can choose.

    1. The open window for interviews allows the consulate to schedule interviews within 7 days for certain visa requests and the high priority Ukrainian requests.

    2. I only saw interviews in English and German and the option to bring a translator. Interviews in Ukrainian or Russian is huge. Can anybody verify?

I assume you received your interview letter with this information?

We sent a email to frankfurtvisainquiries@state.gov  and got this reply

I checked your timeline to get an idea how long it took from the NVC approval of your documents to the scheduling of your interview, but you do not have a timeline. If you could provide those two dayes, it would be helpful in predicting what my wait for an interview would be. Creating a timeline with your dates would also be a huge help for others here.

    Thanks

I have a non-standard case, there were many problems along the way, starting from the coronovirus - typos in the documents through no fault of ours - refusal - appeal - victory in the appeal - then the war in Ukraine 😢.  I'm already afraid to say something about the future, but I'll try to make a timeline for you.

Yes, I'm happy to see that! This certainly clears up a lot of problems people have been asking about. One thing that does need to be clarified, however, is if the exam will need to be translated. If it's done in English no problem, but I have a gut-feeling it's done in the country's language and that could create some confusion down the road.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think that all medical examinations for a visa to the United States must be filled out by doctors of any country in English, since this package with the results will then be opened by a customs officer when you arrive to America.

Also, I have been checked on the site doctorlib.de if there were any free places for the most important dates and I was lucky, on April 22 there were three free places.  So, I advise everyone to check periodically, perhaps you are also lucky.

Also, no matter where the medical takes place eventually, prepare to get your stuff in order.

For Paris personally I have to present my childhood vaccination record - original dated & stamped by the family doctor, as well as translation. Same requirements for the covid vaccine certificate, they want the one from the family doctor, not the international one with a QR code. Luckily that already comes in two languages.

They also warned me I need a tetanus booster, as I haven't had one in 10 years. Luckily it will possible to do during the exam.

I think that's about it. Every clinic usually has a list of requirements online.

Did I understand correctly that you are now in Paris, but you will be interviewing the consul and the medical commission in Frankfurt?  Since all cases on Ukrainians were transferred here.  If so, my thoughts to you is to apply for a medical examination as soon as you know that NVC will send your case to Germany.

Also, when I was in Ukraine, I was told in the *official medical center that childhood vaccinations are not mandatory*. I found the same information on the official website.

    https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/family-immigration/nonimmigrant-visa-for-a-fiance-k-1.html#8

K visa applicants are encouraged to get the vaccinations required under U.S. immigration law for immigrant visa applicants.  Although such vaccinations are not required for K visa issuance, they will be required when adjusting status to that of legal permanent resident following your marriage. Applicants are therefore encouraged to fulfill these vaccination requirements at the time of the medical examination. See Vaccination Requirements for IV Applicants for the list of required vaccinations and additional information

There are officially designated clinics in all the countries that have a US embassy. Have you tried contacting Frankfurt and see if you can do the medical in another country that has less of a wait time?

Earlier we read that it is impossible to get tested in another country.  But my fiancé wrote a letter with this question, we are waiting for an answer.

There is more than one clinic in Germany, it seems Frankfurt and Berlin both offer it:

Thank you. You are right, there are only these two clinics and they have a waiting list two months ahead.  I thought to find people who can share their experience in accelerating the passage of the medical commission.

  18. 4 minutes ago, slavaskii said:

I defer to other users on that, but it was wise of you to already contact Berlin and ask about their appointment times. I only mention foreign medical exams because so much is 'in the air' with Ukraine filers, that there could be special rules applying to them. I've even heard of interviews happening in Belgium, which seemed to me impossible based on Frankfurt being designated as the default embassy, so who knows? If the medical exam cannot be done before your interview at the current pace, I do recommend calling the embassy and asking about other alternatives. Never hurts to ask.

In any case,  I agree fully with what @CMJuilland posted above. There are ways for Ukrainians to get protection and extended stay in the EU, which are probably useful for you regardless of how long you will need to stay for. I'm not completely sure how EU protective status works, but I highly doubt that, once awarded, they'd force you to stay for the full year. After all, the status is only temporary, and the EU probably expects many people to return home if/when conditions become safer in Ukraine. I'd definitely get in touch with some refugee agencies within Germany to see what your temporary stay options are while you await your K1 interview.

I have already studied this issue.  The fact is that now, due to the large number of Ukrainians, this process takes a lot of time + to obtain a status for temporary protection, I need to look for those who will register me in their housing.  It is very uncomfortable.  Since the question is only in the timing of the medical board.

There is another option to go to the German Embassy and ask to extend your stay in Europe for more than 90 days.  But it's such a bureaucracy🤦🏼‍♀️  I don't know how long it will take either.
