  1. I have the same feeling as he does. I know the first week weeks will be fine then the home sickness will click in. I’d do some running around and get some of his fav comfort stuff and it put it around the house like normal day stuff Eg fav snacks ect. Spend time with him the first few weeks and get him on the google to look up different hobby places he has. Once covid slows down I’d say plan a surprise visit from friends/ family.

On another note, I have been reading on the news today about COVID cases per day in Quebec rising upwards of 300... Looks bleak for Montreal embassy's plans to increase interview capacity...

This is gonna be a long road but I think they are also going off how many ppl have gotten the shot. Also if k1 are at the end of  the year I don’t think that will free up spots for us but spots for other classes. We have another week or two of sleepless nights and page refreshing to go. If we are lucky we will get threw all of October.

Would expediting at NVC stage get us an interview faster, or just get us DQ faster, and then we would fall in line still by DQ dates?

It’s very rare for Montreal to approve that. But it never hurts to try.

Just scares me bc I can’t get an actual response from the consulate. It’s generic responses. I’m double vaxxed but can’t imagine showing up and a security guard turns me away.

It was talked in the cr1 topic under Canada there was screen shots of Montreal’s emails about it too

I have heard they ask the typical COVID screening questions at the door but only mention of it was a post from April. My interview if after August 9th (new COVID restrictions for fully vaxxed) and wondering if I will be let in the consulate if fully vaxxed and have been out of the country within 14 days….

any recent interviews in Montreal hear the screening q’s?

They go with travel restrictions in Canada. So if ur fully vax u will be ok I would say to bring ur proof with you.

  6. I checked the stats last night the USA had the highest covid cases from nov-dec this year and looking at the google doc less ppl  then normal have added there info. My fingers are crossed less Dq were done then so maybe we can get a small jump a head. Also looks like k1 are level with us on the Dq date (they also been very quiet on the forms) I’m praying we get a good chunk of interviews this batch. This is my last little bit of hope I have.

I saw a week at the end of August with no interview last for anyone in Tier 2 scheduled (immediate relatives or K1). This hadn’t happened in previous months.

I assume, @Twiz&Toz rightly predicted that that week was used to service tier 3 and 4.

I am actually Glad Montreal is resuming services for tier 3 and 4, as they have been ignored while IR1/CR1 were processed more than ever before between December 2020 and April 2021 (as much as 3 times more than before). But I was hoping they Montreal would cover more than 100 visas per month, because clearly the number of DQs per month appear to have doubled.

In the job post it said work in a team of 5 so if it’s true they will be hiring 3. From the looks of it they only have 2 ppl doing interviews. This all lines up with the new budget starting at the end of September. Fingers crossed bc we could go from 300/400 interviews to 600 a month. That will clear backlog and help out. Fingers crossed I’m Dq Jan 28 and don’t think I’ll be home for Xmas this year unless some big changes happen. Maybe less ppl got Dq from nov plus

I am quite a bit disappointed to have July come to an end with no more interviews scheduled for CR1/IR1 for the last week of August. I REALLY was expecting there would be more letters issued this month.

I was proved wrong, and despite green zone and everything, I suppose Montreal is going to just proceed with issuing about 100 visas per month, exponentially increasing the backlog...

At this point, as a May 2021 DQ, I am now expecting a wait time of 14-16 months from DQ for my interview. ☹️

Our only hope is Montreal hiring more staff or training staff at other consulates to conduct the interviews...

They only post once a month. There was a job posting add I seen but not 100% on it as it was on glassdoor. We have a very very long wait a head of us unless something changes as soon the tier system maybe removed.

Other visa categories seems to have  had a bump in May

At lest they did some. I’m guessing after sept they will maybe bump us back up. I seen a posting that Montreal was hiring more ppl.

If that is the case, then I guess we have to resign to the fact that Montreal will only be issuing about 100 interview slots per month for IR1/CR1 going forward (same as pre COVID days)

Someone reported they are inviting 2 people per 15 minute slot. Considering 6 hours of interviews per day, that is 24 people per day. Montreal appears to be dedicating 5 days per month IR1/CR1. So that's roughly 100 visas per month.

Unfortunately, there appear to be twice as many applicants with DQ in any given month now (September 2020 DQ) onwards. So 100 visas only cover about 2 weeks of DQ dates... (previously 100 visas covered a whole month of DQ dates). The number of applicants DQ-ing per month appears to have doubled.

Unless Montreal starts opening more slots per 15 minute window or dedicate more days for IR1/CR1 interviews, the wait time will exponentially increase...

That’s the math I did as well. They only way to clear this backlog is to hire more staff or open more interview days. It’s almost the end of the year so maybe they will hire more staff. I’m not 100% sure but I think they officers need to be American if that’s the case they may have hired new staff but are waiting for Canada to put threw work visas for them. :( only time will tell.

Anyone have any insight on how long or what happens while in AP? How can I get updates or check in? The interviewer said all documents are in order and had everything he needs. Had to assume it has to do with my application withdraw or I just got a mean dude idk

A few months back some one on here had the same problem I think they said it was with in 2 weeks things were fixed.

Great thank you! Hopefully I’ll be able to use it or at least get more lucky at a different dmv.

As far as your other comment regarding the stamp, I tried doing the whole ask Emma thing on USCIS today and it gave me the link saying that a stamped immigrant visa is proof of legal status for up to one year from the entry date, it didn’t say anything about needing writing on it. The border guard did stamp my visa upon entry and it has the entry date on the stamp, the CBP officer just didn’t write the visa class on it in pen so I’m not sure if it would be an issue or not? I mean I’m a legal LPR with a scannable visa and an entry stamp from when I activated that visa. I can’t imagine the CBP officer not writing the visa class in pen on the stamp would cause any issues? I am going back to Canada on Friday so I guess I’ll find out when I attempt to cross back into the USA.

I can’t see it being a problem if so they will pull u into secondary and all the info is log in the system when they run the checks

Looks like for May and June they did slack off a bit compared to Mar and Apr, so I guess they might've had staff away and also stat holidays.

But it seems that for the most part it's that other categories got included into Montreal's workload rather than at the height of the pandemic where they pretty much only focused on IR/CR visas. So my guess is that the DoS directive forced MTL to start processing other categories which reduced the room for our category. This isn't too surprising given that there are ENORMOUS backlogs in the other categories right now, it's understandable although frustrating that there's reduced capacity for spousal cases.

The solution would be to increase the capacity because it's obviously insufficient to serve the demand. Reopening the IV Units in other Consulates would be a good start. Given how long I-130 petitions can take, anything more than a 3 month wait for an IV interview is excessive imo.

I agree they need to open more units or get more staff. Our backlog is going to get worse if we keep this trend. The spread of covid they are worried about will be less as well as we all won’t have to travel from all over Canada to go to one place. Toronto did how many b1/b2 visas last month.

Compared to May 2021 with 125 IRI and 52 CRI, June 2021 had only 37 IRI and 10 CRI interviews scheduled 😐

With the year up in sept Montreal seems to be pushing more ir5 visas as the amount given out each year is limited and they haven’t used hardly any. Also looks like they doubled k1 visas to clear up backlog. I have a feeling in oct we will go back to our old numbers of 125 ish. Also thing reopening may help if they can’t get more staff in. They only have what ppl are reporting 2 ppl doing interviews and by doing some math was what I figured they had.
