I showed my boyfriend this thread. He wanted to share his rules for my proper deportment and behaviour around him. It's handy for the other ladies!
I demand that you lay prostate at my feet and look up at me in an adoring fashion while I play WoW There must be constant adulation of me as the King I demand that you keep the toilet seat UP when you finish going potty

My food must be cooked to perfection I demand 5 star service

When my glass is empty, you must refill without me asking.

When my plate is clear, you must ask if I want a second portion or if it is okay for you to take it away You get to eat in the kitchen

    After I'm done.

You are to read to me the daily news, without interjecting any comments

You must cut my meat before you serve it to me

You dare not insult me with inferior food

This is what I've never understood about (some) workers whose jobs are more-or-less seasonal. I know a few. Hell, I'm related to a few. In the summer months, they're making good money, so they buy the big-screen TVs and new cars and eat out every night. Come winter, they're on welfare because they couldn't be bothered to budget and sock part of their paycheck away. And I agree Slim, there doesn't seem to be motivation for it. Not when you can buy your big screen TV *and* have somebody subsidize your 6-month vacation. At least single mothers living on the dole, working a couple jobs, and trying to take care of their children have an excuse. These guys driving down to the welfare office in their Toyota Landcruisers with the big tool box in the back...not so much.

I rarely look in here but this made me laugh. Really? I understand this is a game thread but if I make rules in any other thread if people don't follow those rules they can be thread banned? Like if I post a topic on abortion and I said nobody can say anything about abortion=baby killing, people can be thread banned? I'm just curious.
    Now I will say Kathryn.

Nobody pissed in my cheerios. I just get tired of this dude callin out welfare moms and then livin on the dole himself. I'm not mad at him for doing it (it is legal, afterall) I'm mad at the hypocrisy of it.
Personally I'd like to see you guys live within your means.
If you get laid off that's not anyone's problem but yours. You either find another job or you survive on the money you already have. What's extremely frustrating about this situation is you know you're going to get laid off every year yet there's a legal way for you to scam the system and continue being paid for doing absolutely nothing.
Like I said above, I'm not knocking you personally (or the guys at your union hall who coerced people into passing those laws in the first place) I'm mad at the hypocrisy of a system that rewards people for doing nothing and the fact that we're all too stupid to fix it.

Someday my friend, you're going to want a bread-based lawnmower cozy. And you'll come groveling to my Etsy store. But I'm a lover not a hater, a forgiver, not a grudger. So when that day comes, I won't even charge you for shipping.

mox got a reaction from mr and mrs in Why Do So Many Have Trouble Believing In Evolution?
There are those who will say Mormon spaceships is a completely ludicrous idea, and then in the same breath, explain in all seriousness, that woo such as virgin births, raising people from the dead, a 6,000 year old earth, a great flood in which two of every animal was put onto a boat smaller than an aircraft carrier, and angels, really did happen. If you believe in miracles, or angels, or that "God has a plan," you have no business laughing at mormon spaceships. (not that I'm saying the poster who brought them up believes in them) Quite frankly, Mormon spaceships is about one of the least ludicrous ideas I've heard from religion.
But it's all based on bronze age creative writing, and the fact that any of it is taken seriously in the 21st century is truly mind numbing.
Why do so many have trouble believing in evolution? Because they refuse to use their brains for critical thought. When an idea like "you will burn in hell forever and ever and ever and ever and ever because of something you did or didn't do during an infinitesimal time blip in the life-cycle of the universe" sounds reasonable, your brain is turned off. When an idea like "I let my son, who is also me, be tortured and murdered so that I, an almighty deity who didn't have to do something so deranged if I truly was omnipotent, could make a concept like "forgiveness" possible" does not sound like the ravings of a lunatic, your brain is turned off.
Science and religion are fundamentally incompatible. So if you believe in a magical sky man, you're very likely going to have trouble not just believing in evolution, but actually understanding it.

Wouldn't you want it to be a little zero? In terms of relative size, I'd think a little zero would convey less respect than a big zero. A big zero might be misconstrued as, I dunno, a dounut. And then it would look like you had "donut respct" for me. Which would actually be kind of awesome. Anyway, you should make it a little zero. Just seems like it would convey more of what you're going for.

What a stupid question to ask an atheist. You don't need 15 paragraphs to answer the question, it's a simple answer: Atheists don't "just go out and kill" ourselves, because we don't believe in an afterlife. We believe you get one shot at it, and that's all. Why would you shorten the most precious thing you have?
Quite the contrary, I've often wondered why theists don't just go kill themselves. Gets you to heaven faster, ends all this earthly suffering. Yeah, yeah, there's that whole "suicide is a mortal sin" thing, but since theists have made exceptions for just about every other teaching in their holy books, suicide might as well just go out the window too.

I purpose a toast...into a Cyberpunk lawnmower cozy. First I get a couple bags of bread, toast all the slices, and then kind of mash the toast onto the lawn mower. Wrap with duct tape to secure. Then for the Etsy Cyberpunk look, I get sequins and glue them on randomly.

It's not trolling, Kip, it's joining the party. It's common knowledge that the UK subforum, for example, is boring. Mostly practical matters and "OMG!!!! I'd kill for a REAL Cornish pasty!!!!!!!!!!!!!" and "My slutty neighbor is flirting with my hot UK MAN because of his SEXY ACCENT!!!!!!" But, the RUB subforum isn't an exclusive club, as much as a very few guys (and it's all USC guys) want to make it like that. There's so much hilarious baiting that goes ignored, and when someone with a UK flag makes a comment on just about anything, it's "Oh no! The hairy-legged Anglophone man-haters are here!" It's a weird dynamic, but it's lots of fun. At least I think it is.
