William Overbeck reacted to Sammisauras in Married to US Citizen, left to visit Canada but now denied re-entry to the US by CBP officer -- Help!
Okay listen. I have already hit my 10 year visa and went through all of this.
2015 my husband moved to stay with me so that we could see if our relationship was sustainable. 5 months in we decided to travel to the USA to visit and meet his family and to reset the 6 month period. We were rudely awakened that this was not how the border would allow us to behave and essentially I got told that he could finish the remainder of his 6 months and then we needed to leave. We were devastated and embarrassed by how the officer treated us ( basically calling us stupid and telling me that we had no rights because we were not married. After crying I began to research.

I immediately applied to get my spouse a temporary residency for Canada, so that he could remain longer( as long as you have a pending application before your passport stamp runs out you are fine). We married in feb of 2016. After trying and trying to get PR in Canada I gave up and decided to go the other way. We applied in oct 2016.

during this time I continued to apply for temporary residency, 3 times in fact and when I got to the interview portion of the cr1 on sept 11 2017 because I did this and because we remained in domicile the entire time the officer changed their entire attitude! I had proven our marriage was bonafide simply because my husband remained with me, unable to work etc, through the entire process.

I had to remove conditions and truthfully 680 dollars will be worth it every time. Many petitions that begin in the United States first are deemed suspicious.

I highly recommend having her enter to visit you, and take appropriate steps to make her a temporary resident while you complete all your processes.

have someone on the USA side help you. STAY AWAY from the border. It’s hard but necessary because it proves you are there for them and not to evade immigration law.

I am in the process of naturalizing. I wish you luck!

That's no problem with having to meet! It's just that it's a very costly process to do several travels. From how our last president implemented the travel ban, I'm more wary of how much of years' worth of K1 visas and how the approving processes have been halted. And is continuing at a very slow rate.

The amount is no trifle! I'm very confident that we have the savings that we need.  We also found some airlines that'll help us with getting him over here.

Hello! I'm completely new to the form, and the visa journey.

My backstory is that I'm trying to help my fiancé come to the US to be married and settle down together in FL. We're currently in an LDR, so we've never met in person within the last two years. Reading along the guidelines of the CR-1 visa - it shows that proof that we have an consistent relationship (for avoiding marriage fraud) is required.

Even though we haven't met in person because of the travel ban, he would be staying in the States while waiting for his green card. Beforehand, we're also looking to see if marriage online would be acceptable by their standards. What if we submitted chat logs/receipts of where we sent each other gifts, video calls, recorded calls/sending each other money through Paypal? I'm happy to let them look through our messages on messaging apps we transitioned through from 2016 - present.

[TL;DR] I tried contacting USCIS personally for more information about specific requirements, but got an automated system each time. Our main goal is to be married and bring him to the States for settling down. Help is appreciated in advance.

    Good evening, ma'am.

Your kind input is duly noted. I also like your honestly because the previous posters didn't include that in their initial statements. It's good to know that people like you are still out there. Congratulations for you and your husband being together!

It's a very costly process to do more than one trip, so we're hoping that we can try to solve this with much help from the US embassies as we haven't been able to meet within the past years because of financial struggles.

We met online, and we've been together for 4 years. We've never met in person, and that is our goal.

Thank you for your input though, we're going to look at the online marriage process further.

That's the thing I'm vary wary about because of how quickly the travel ban was implemented, and how much higher the costs would be to delay the process of being together.
This is also a very costly process to repeatedly schedule short trips for the sake of proving that we're legitimate. The US tends to be very firm about these things, and I don't mind if we have to do 1-2 trips to show to officials that we're a couple.

It's not a bad idea to consider, but keep in mind how the USA travel ban had quickly stopped years' worth of processing.

We met via Discord. Started as friends, and then became lovers over time. He's currently located in Spain.

We haven't been able to meet because we were financially struggling during this time. Along with COVID, the travel hasn't been kind to EUR travelers.

Have you been through this process before?
We're willing to go through with that.  I'm not sure why it's very intimidating for some.
That's valid, my dude. Most of the places that I've asked has been giving misinformation or confusing the K1/CR-1 visas together when they're different. That's why I'm also asking here, to avoid that.

I appreciate your input! I've actually said in my other posts that money was an issue while we were still getting to know each other. As marriages take time to consider, so does putting a lot of wealth into short-term trips for the sake of proving that your relationship as real as the next person on the internet isn't a bot. I'm very sure that this still would've been an issue during the beginning of those 4 years. If we did have lots of wealth as you have, I'm sure it wouldn't be an issue.  Thank the Lord, it's not the case anymore! It's a matter of knowing what requirements are opinionated or goes by the actual book.

It would be more understandable if OP's tone wasn't degrading. I understand this is an open forum but speaking with the wrong tone can convey a different attitude of how much they're willing to help a person, or speak of themselves.

Marriage is a very huge thing to contemplate when it comes to making flights on the whim, and not everyone has greater access to financial access as the majority of you may have. This also might've been different for you, considering that you have met each other in-person before or have lived within at least a few states away.

I understand that's the case for some, but I'm asking since we're currently in an LDR.
