I don’t know for certain but I changed state and got my interview appointment a few weeks later so think it sped things up for me.

Hi all, I got notice today that my green card is being printed! I was hesitant to write on here because I know it’s bittersweet to hear of others’ successes when you’re in limbo / still waiting but I hope it gives you hope… things are moving!

I had my interview today in Pittsburgh and he said he approved my green card! He has to update a few bits on info on our file and I should get it in a few weeks! Such a relief!

There’s a chat box that appears on the USCIS website called Emma and you can request to talk to an agent directly through it. I’ve heard most people get told to wait for their bio before expediting but a few have had theirs scheduled. You’ll have to then reapply to expedite after bio as well. And you’ll need clear evidence of the emergency your filing for. Good luck.

Changing your name is probably going to have to wait until your status changes to LPR. The SSA and many DMVs use the USCIS database (SAVE) to check your legal status. They have to find your name in USCIS records. Right now all they will find is your maiden name (based on your J1 visa) so that’s the only name that can be permitted on your social security card. If you successfully update at interview to married name for your greencard, then the USCIS database will update with the married name. SSA (and DMV) will find the married name and make the change.

My i-693 deficiency notice came about a week or so after I was moved to "ready to be scheduled for an interview".  It will come.  You will need it so you may as well start getting it done now.  Also, "ready to be scheduled" is very different to "scheduled".... it may be a month, it may be 18.

From the Lawfully app, it looks like a lot of people got their i-693 deficiency notice yesterday... I'd love to know how things are processed at the USCIS, it's fascinating.  For instance, if they've looked at our applications to say it's ready to schedule interview, why don't they just hit the EAD approval button??  Go on, just hit it!!!

My i-485 just got updated to "Case Is Ready To Be Scheduled For An Interview"! I don't know how significant that is because I presume it's the national centre saying 'yes the application is good' but now we have to wait for the local office (Albany, NY) to have availability?  Anyone know?
I'm excited by this change in status but reeeeeeeally wish my EAD would be approved.  How is everyone else getting along?

Claireh703 got a reaction from DrPearson in How accurate is VJ's estimated timeline?
I just downloaded the "Lawfully" app which uses your receipt numbers to theoretically push through notifications when anything is updated (some people say it's not real time).  However, that also gives an estimated timeline and it based on the whole process rather than how this site relies on people updating their timelines so it's a lot more accurate.  It uses a lot more variants to more accurately compare your case with similar.  And it breaks down the estimated timeline with "20% chance of hearing in the next 4 weeks, 40% chance of hearing in the 4 weeks after that, etc".  So, if anyone is looking for a more accurate estimate, I recommend that.

I'm a J1 (expired) and filed for AOS through marriage from the US.

How accurate do you think the timelines are that they give here?

I had my biometrics appointment on 2/18/21 and just had an email from this site saying they estimate me getting my EAD decision in August.  But when I look at other people's timelines, August seems ridiculous. I know that I have to relax with this process and be patient but I'm currently in the constantly-checking-for-updates stage!!

Also, does the USCIS send text alerts when things get updated?  If they do, I can stop signing on a hundred times a day and live my life!!

Nope. All EAD/APs (including renewals) are free while your AOS is pending. I only had to include a copy of my NOA with it as proof I had already paid for my AOS fees.

Priority Date is the date when USCIS received your I-130 application (for family-based petitions).

My brother is doing this at the moment - he is apply for an EAD despite having the E2 because it might take a year or two for the green card to come through.  Having the EAD will mean he is not tied to that company in the mean time.
