I have promised myself to keep up with this forum even after winning.i could remember when my abuser wife packed everything we had and moved out of the apartment when I was at work one day and it was unannounced.she left to another state and will not picked my calls for weeks.this was when I already had interview schedule with her.i felt like killing myself but reading comments here really helped my faith in God.i pleaded with her when started picking calls, bought her ticket to fly down and she did not attend the interview.i was denied in 2019 and letter to leave the country was sent to me.2020,I started vawa,I got prima facie for 2 and half years and in December 2023,I got my employment card

Mubarak ho bhai saab! I am happy for you!
    Congratulations!
Please if you do not mind can you tell people know why they denied your VAWA? It is for those who are struggling right now. It would help them and give them hope.

    Hello everybody,

I was a vawa applicant from April 2017.  My case was actually denied and I received a Notice of Intent to Deny back in Oct 2020.   My new lawyer submitted the 601 waiver. In Nov 2022 they asked for additional evidence. I was also asked to submit good moral character documents, I was also asked to submit last 5 year Income Taxes.  We made a very big package of all the information needed. After we submitted the RFE it took almost 2 and half months for the good news.  Moral of the story : Do not give up, be positive, do research and Good News will come. Keep Praying. Here is my timeline from when I applied Vawa.

    Hi everyone.
I need help concerning my college admision.
All my previous school certificates are in my maiden name but right now am bearing my Ex name which I will like to change back to my maiden name in future but now I dont want it to mess up my immigration journey.  What do I need to back up my claim that am still thesame person? Will marrige certificate be enough proof?or do i need to go to court to sworn affidavit? Thank you in advance.

Oh dear! USCIS is unpredictable as always! Most of those documents you provided prove shared residence more than it proves good faith marriage! The famous affidavits both from family, friends and neighbors in addition to yours will greatly help! USCIS is interested in timelines just to make certain you didn’t ‘hook up’ for immigration benefits! I suggest you get to work on how it all started.. up to marriage and beyond.. I have come to learn that USCIS values this information a lot. It actually contributes to some extent on what influences the outcome of their decisions! Give them pictures.. explaining the progression of events/relationship. I believe you will be alright. Stay strong in this..do not let them or anyone else break your spirit!👍

You didn’t ask my opinion but let me tell you something , you are making a BIG mistake reconciling with your abuser. Unfortunately time will prove that I am right .Statistics show if the abuser is going to a therapist at least for 6 months and  attended minimum 3 months of anger management classes JUST 10% will not abuse again.

If you reconciled with your spouse then you have to withdraw your l360.Once you inform Uscis that you want to withdraw your Vawa then inform the field office about it, considering your AOS is pending .

I always tell people this, abuser is always an abuser and they never change, they are just trying to bring their victim back to abuse them more severely and unfortunately this time it it can lead to death. I hope people make good choices

You need to FILE for vawa within 2 years of divorce, it doesn't matter how long it takes to get approved.

Congrats! I agree with 2 people that already sent you lists and try to add your medicals as well. They have you do bloodwork, for me it took around 4 days, but Im sure some labs can do expedite tests, just call as many places as you can to bring your medicals to the interview. If your old ones expired you will definitely get an RFE if you don't bring them.
I do not know the details for type of divorce, but I definitely recommend filing for any kind tbh. You can apply for VAWA within 2 years of divorce, so you have plenty of time.
Yes try to do psych evaluation for 6+ sessions, it will help your case.

I believe your divorce has to have been within 2 yrs to qualify for vawa, you can divorce but I would say start to gather all the evidence and write all your statement (it takes a while trust me) It took me almost 6 months if not even a year to completely put package together, so start out on that, then when you have it all sent out, i will say concentrate on divorce, but i can also understand if you want to divorce him now, maybe @sandranj @Stillwinning!!!😊 @Shroy123 will have some more info, they have always been so helpful to me and really everyone on here is.

Hello everyone, I have been separated from my US citizen spouse for a year left after we had a domestic violence incident and I called the cops. He has since gone on to claim taxes as married has been getting stimulus checks for us both and has not even bothered to let me know of this. He also started threatening the relatives I was living with telling them to put me out because they let me live with them that was the reason I wasn't returning to live with him. I am considering filing for divorce as not to carry on mingling our finances but I am not sure what effect this will have on me filing VAWA also what type of divorce do I file for as I am in Texas. I know that I need a Psych Eval any advice on that?
