Sorry I was trying to find the post on Reddit but they might have deleted it (I think a lot of the comments were bashing them for "Showing off" how fast they received their Advanced Parole)
Thanks for trying! I am still going to have my hubby submit one asap!

I did see a case not too long ago where a person was in the same boat as you. They had submitted their AOS package but no AP earlier this year. They later applied for AP (about a month ago I belive) and they had their AP approved after just a few weeks! It's worth a try, there is nothing to lose.
I’m definitely going to do this right away! Thanks so much for giving me some hope!!!

Why did you not apply for AP/EAD with the AOS?
AOS can take up to two years.
AP seems to be currently taking around 8 months. You can get all of these processing times by form # on USCIS.gov.
Oh my goodness…..I can’t believe AOS takes so long. I was thinking maybe 8-9 months 😢

I guess I did not know any better.
We did apply for EAD and he was approved in 3 weeks so that’s not an issue. It’s that we’d like to travel outside the USA but can’t 😢
can we still apply for AP?

Hello all!
My husband entered the USA on a K1 Visa earlier this year. We applied for AOS and have heard nothing since May. I’m certain there’s a backlog with COVID and all but we’d like to take a trip outside the USA. Some questions:
1. How long does it take for AOS on average? How much longer do you think we will have to wait?
2. How long does it take for AP? Is it worth going for?
Thanks for any insight!

Hey guys! On average how long is it taking for AP to be approved? Is there anywhere I can go to find timelines for this? We would like to take a trip out of the country but trying to plan in advance if possible. Any tips appreciated

Sounds like his EAD is on the way. It would be nice if you updated your timeline in order for the algorithm to use the data in generating the average time for EAD processing. If you check the box on either the I-485 or I-765, then he should get a Social Security Card also (from the SS Administration).
Let me work on my timeline! Thanks for the response. EAD took less than a month if that’s the case! Thank You Jesus!

Hey all! My husband is adjusting status from the K1 visa. He also applied for the employment authorization and I checked his case status online and it says card issued. Does that mean we are just waiting for his employment authorization card to come in the mail? Does it also mean he has been issued a Social Security number? And is there anyway to check on this? Any help appreciated. I would be happy if all this happened so quickly

Hello all! My husband came in on my K-1 visa in January and at the time he came in we called to schedule an appointment to get a Social Security number. The representative we spoke with told us we were not able to do so until he had adjusted his status and we just learned this is incorrect. Unfortunately it’s too late as we are married. Is there any way to get an SSN now? He can’t even open an account or get a license without this. Any help appreciated!

I am eager to see if USCIS accepts the petitions as is.
Hi there. Got NOA for the I-130 (you know the one I didn’t need lol) but it’s an RFE for my husband to fill out I-130A. Should we do it or just wait on AOS and EAD? Not even sure what to do

Hello all,
if I’ve already filed for AOS, and I would like to submit an application for EAD, do I need to pay a separate filing fee for this? From what I understand, no but I want to be certain as I’ve already made some mistakes and can’t afford to waste any more money!

sorry u did not know this
understand that this is why the embassy gives out the Welcome to the USA booklet
also if he is under 26 , he must register for selective service /not doing this affects many later when they apply for citizenship
Take a deep breathe and relax
you have the best answers now so you can ride the waves of AOS
Thanks so much. Appreciate the encouragement! I’ll be following the guide from here on out!

he interviewed at embassy in January but when did he actually come?
Are you still within the I 94 date to go to SS to apply for SS # (not sure of the actual timeframe needed to do this but if the POE date was on your profile timeline, it would enable others to help u with this )
January 13 he arrived
too late to apply for SSN
Unfortunately we were misinformed by a non-VJ member and thought he could not get an SSN. I’m back patrolling the topics on VJ and see I could have saved myself much trouble.

If you were a K1 (you posted this in a K1 forum), an I130 is not needed.
Pleases fill up your timeline as required for membership.
??? He came in on a K1. Not sure what I missed

In another thread about 10 minutes before you asked this question, you said "I would like my future mother in law to come for our wedding" How did you file the I-130 if you aren't married yet?
We are married. We are having the big wedding later this year so I stand corrected: my mother in law!

1-2 years usually. Sometimes more.
Yes you can apply for EAD and should have done that at the time of filing. You still can. Include a copy of the I-485 receipt with I-765. Did you file I-131 too?
Yes we did. Thank you. We will get on that asap

Hello all! Need some help. We recently filed I-130
and I-485. How long does AOS usually take? Can we apply for EAD while we wait even if he doesn’t have an SSN yet? Sorry I’m quite naive so please be kind!
