When did you enter the US?  Did you pay the GC fee?

Typically the SSN shows up about 3-4 weeks after entry if the box was checked on the DS-260.  If it doesn't show up, make an appointment with the SSA.

The greencard can be fast or it can be slow.  Depends which center is printing it, it seems.

What if DS-260 was marked of, can I apply for an SSN right after I moved to the US? My husband will be transferring work and won’t have an employer insurance for a month. He was being asked for my SSN by a private insurance company so we have to do it as soon as possible when I arrive.

    Congratulations!

I didn’t get that at the interview either, but they sent it with my passport lol

    Thank you!!

Well they might send it to me along with my passport 😂 I even doubted if he really approved me. I thought.. so, I am not welcome to the US then?? 😂

This question is on the wrong thread.

No, you don’t have to have it opened. You could let the CO know when you interview, but in all likelihood, they won’t care.

Nonetheless, carry a copy of your submitted DS 260 marked up with any updates during the interview and inform the CO.

Thank you so much! My anxiety is over the roof now as my interview will be next week. I feel like I still have a lot of things to do and I don’t know now what needs to be updated or what not.

I would say, upload everything you want the interviewing officer to see.  At my interview, I had enough documentation on hand to prove any part of the application that could possibly come into question, but the officer refused to look at anything which was not already uploaded.  Maybe an isolated case, but IMO, it doesn't hurt to upload if it is something you want the officer to see.

Also, did you only brought 1040 and W2? I read in the Facebook group to bring the return transcript. I’m getting so confused now here. Sorry..

Our lawyer advised us to prepare this and bring it to the interview just in case (we didn't upload it online). We prepared it and brought it to the interview but they didn't ask for it. Doesn't hurt to have on hand just in case though.

Thank you so much. I am actually going to take my husband’s most recent tax records. I was just confused if I needed to upload it or not. Thank you for your help!

They did respond within a day for me, not sure what they're usual response times are though. Here's the information that they'll need to book your appointment, this will help you get your appointment booked faster:

    Full name (on passport):
    Interview Date:
    Case number:
    Phone number:
    Age:
    Requested appointment date:

I had emailed everything except for the requested appointment date. Hoping to hear from them soon. Thank you for answering my questions.

I did, they were very quick to respond by email and very helpful. I couldn't book by phone either

Did they replied within the day? I emailed them this morning and still no response. I needed to fly from the US and is arranging for child care that’s why I am hoping to get things situated as soon as I can.
