I attended a Republican political gathering today (9/9/12), chiefly to ask my Congressman the question posed in this thread:

Box lunches were served. I and a man who sat down beside me had a chat while eating. He had immigrated from Poland and works as an engineer here. He mentioned that he had grown up under the Communist regime.
I asked him if he saw any parallels between the leaders of those days and 0bama here today. He said, "It's pure. The promises, the actions..." I asked him again. He said, "It is as pure as fingerprints."
I asked him whether he was there (at the function) for a reason related to be above. He said, "Sure. I grew up under the Communist regime and don't want to see the same happen here."
I asked him his prediction in regard to the upcoming Presidential election. He said, "I think that we can get rid of 0bama. I think that the citizens here are still aware enough to realize what is going on. If they do not, they will realize clearly soon enough."

"Workforce gets to work", "consumers get to distribution points" - you're double-counting here. Workers get paid - those business owners give them X amount of money - to get to work, and that money is taxed (when the workers pay their taxes) to pay for the roads and bridges they (workers) use.
An increasingly large part of our economy is intellectual property - non-manufacturing. Software, ideas, trade secrets, proprietary information, business plans, trademarks, copyrights, patents.
Most independent software vendors can operate out of a closet in the Caymans, or a small office in the Czech Republic. There is no reason for them to be domiciled in a high tax jurisdiction.
So yeah, by all means, make them pay their "fair share". They'll just pack up and leave.

That's a big part of it. I'm not reading a full page article on an entertainment site just so I can hear about someone's disagreement with someone being more wealthy than them.
The one thing I've yet to understand from the left is why any one person should pay more than any other person. Above even talked about the rich "stiffing" Social Security and Medicare. Um, why would anyone need to pay millions of dollars into a retirement/medical scheme? Do they benefit "more" after retirement? Is their health coverage somehow millions of dollars more expensive than the average UAW employee's?

One thing about religion always confused me. The Amish shun all modern convinces, but if they were living in 1840 they would be at the cutting edge. How did they decide where to cut it off.

The 08 ticket had no experience running government. Romney was a governor and ran MA. You can argue it any way you like and I am not an Obama basher. He is not a good President, IMHO. Sure he has accomplished a few things, but nothing close to live up to the hype that surrounded him 4 years ago. He was in over his head from the beginning. If he submitted a resume for the job, he never would have gotten an interview. He wasn't qualified. The media made him in 08, and soon enough we'll know if it will break him.
I'm not suggesting that Romney is a genius and will solve all the countries problems. But I'm realistic enough to know that no one is going to do that. There will always be criticism. Just the notion that one party has all the answers is idiotic. And reading here every day reinforces that. Both parties are dirty. I don't vote party lines. I vote for the candidate that I feel is best suited for the job. Unfortunately at times the choices aren't good. Like 2008, and probably now too.

Well if you are physically and mentally able to fend for yourself you should. Here in Gawga we import Mexicans to pick peaches because, the local growers have proved they can't get labor. Yet almost 50% of young people in that county get some form of Government assistance and have a 45% unemployment rate. How can you defend that ?
