Are we to assume that the one incident above is evidence of the claims of violence by illegal immigrants and drug smugglers which constitutes calling in the National Guard? The case above is believed to have been committed by an illegal immigrant but also states they have no suspects at this time.
The story in the first post also gives no evidence except a general and wide claim. There is nothing offered by the newscaster or the one officer interviewed about the numbers of people crossing the boarder, the number of violent cases happening involving illegals, the number of drugs smuggled and cases of drugs involved along the boarder, or the period of time which this has been on going.
The video shot starting at 1:37 shows a lot of what appears to be Hispanics moving in in masses in lines across what appears to be desert and crossing the high walls yet the newscaster makes no mention of what that footage actually is. The article states that the building of a wall has been stopped in this area. This B roll is matched with a narrative that lets the viewer assume that this is video of Arizona's boarder since they are discussing it as though it is evidence of the problem in this area that is shut off to US residence. They make no statement telling that this is what the actual footage is when in fact it could be and most likely is older footage from several years ago of many areas even in other states along the boarder or inside Mexico itself.
It's lazy reporting. They don't give specific evidence which constitutes the reasons for the need for National Guard there. They make general claims. They interview one person instead of many. They don't explain the footage they are showing as the B roll.

That would make sense if this was a follow up piece targeted for local or regional audiences but the reporter didn't lead in that way. If it was meant to be a national story, which the content is suggesting, then it needs more work. They need to peoplize it doing more than one interview & give the back story of why this particular area needed to be shut off from the public such as the number of violent occurrences that have locals and officials worried instead of sweeping generalizations by officials that "it's out of control". The reporter would be doing their due diligence if the criticism of the presidency & the need for US guard called in was justified with back evidence. Otherwise, the reporter is negligent in only reporting the word of the one authority in the area.

I'm not saying that their claims aren't valid. I'm saying the reporting is lazy. They need to present the evidence more clearly citing the numbers and what is going on exactly. If they are calling for the National Guard the story is of national interest and not everyone knows why Arizona needs the national guard over the other states along the boarder.

This move by Iran was predictable. Iran is about to be slapped with more sanctions. It is doubtful that the sanctions will actually accomplish anything meaningful. But the public relations aspect of the sanctions is bad for the Iranian government, especially for public sentiments within Iran. Now, Iran is resorting to an age old formula: Consolidate public opinion against a common enemy: Ahmadinejad is hoping that normal Iranians hate Israel more than they hate him. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
Israel would be crazy to let this Iranian flotilla into Gaza. If Israel bloodies Iran's nose, it will be worse for Ahmadinejad's PR than if he aborts the flotilla mission.

While it may be for better or worse the court of appeals for the Hollywood circuit it covers a large area including rural states such as Idaho, Alaska & Montana. It sounds like what the court held was more about the safety issue having to do with the roads. I'm confused by the article though because it seems it's mixing the definition of day laborers and transients. Maybe they combine them all in a certain poverty line and lifestyle?
Even in our capitol city, Boise, we don't see this much here because it's too cold for them most of the time. They aren't working the traffic cleaning windows or selling things. Sometimes we get deaf people selling pencils in parking lots. This group of day labors/transients start appearing in the late spring and summer and then move on somewhere else.
The last 3 years though I've observed several community outreach shelters open in the downtown area and more people asking for money on the busy street corners. They aren't looking for work as much as they want money for alcohol or drugs or whatever. I've tried giving them food and they throw it at me or ask for money instead so I stopped helping them. Then I've over heard young street people talk about how they make more money standing at a store all day with a sign then having a regular job. Last Saturday at Farmer's Market there was a transient without a sign holding an imaginary sign up so people would get the idea anyways. One time I found one passed out spread eagle in a parking lot in a puddle of his own puke in broad daylight. I wasn't sure if he was dead so I went over to check on him and gave his shoulder a nudge. He opened his eyes and I asked if he was alright and he said he was just sleeping.

A modest peace plan that is working
By Imam Abdullah Antepli and Rabbi Michael Goldman
    Duke University chaplains
Jews: want to fight anti-Semitism? Muslims: want to challenge islamophobia? There's an easy way to do it: have coffee with one another.
Last week, the two of us, the rabbi and imam of Duke University, did just that. Not that meeting at a café is such a rare occurrence; we work together, we like each other and our children play together. But last week, amidst the tension between Muslims and Jews caused by the violence off the coast of Israel and Gaza, our coffee date felt like a political act. The fiasco aboard the Mavi Marmara hit close to home for our imam who, like several of those killed in that raid, is Turkish.
We typically steer away from politics not because we feel uneasy on that turf; we know that we disagree on many core issues surrounding the Israeli-Palestinian controversy and are quite comfortable with that. We steer clear of this controversy because we are working to belie the fallacy that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is all that a Muslim and a Jew would have to talk about.
Muslim-Jewish conversations on university campuses, and elsewhere, often get corralled into this narrow zone. A two-state solution, or one? War crimes, or ordinary combat? Recognize Hamas, or not? Such debates are necessary. But it is too easy for our students to get into the habit of seeing every member of the other group as a political sparring partner. When political discourse becomes the dominant mode -- or the only mode -- something essential may be lost: empathy.
Reasonable people see that behind the stridency of hard-liners from both the Israeli and Palestinian camps lies historical pain. The Nazis slaughtered the Jews while Europe and America largely stood by. The Jews displaced and killed Palestinians in their quest for a home away from Europe. If militants on both sides could know the depth of the other's loss, a door might open.
But what are the chances of getting a Jewish settler and a Hamas activist in the same room together? Even regular kids who grow up in Israel and Palestine today do not know anyone living across the green line. One of our students, a young woman from the West Bank, confessed that before coming to Duke she had never spoken with a Jew, except when being interrogated at a checkpoint. Our Jewish students also arrive here knowing not a single Arab or Muslim, let alone a Palestinian.
That's where coffee comes in. Not only do the imam and rabbi meet, but we also create opportunities for our students to do so. During recent years, the Muslim holiday of Ramadan has coincided with the Jewish High Holy Days, giving us a chance to share a meal that has come to be known as Muslim-Jewish Iftar ('iftar' is the breaking of the Ramadan fast at sunset). For us as chaplains, the content of such programs is far less important than the very fact that our Muslim and Jewish students are doing that mundane but magically humanizing activity of sitting down together and sharing a hummus platter.
We see it working. At one such event, our rabbi happened to overhear a spontaneous conversation involving one Jewish student whose grandparents had narrowly escaped the Nazis, another Jewish student whose grandfather had fled Tunisia after the anti-Jewish riots of 1953, and a student of Palestinian descent who shared how in 1948 Israeli soldiers had sacked his grandparents' village and forced them to leave for Jordan. There was no tone of rancor or one-upmanship in these three young people's conversation; they merely wanted to share family histories.
Our campus is home to the same Israeli-Palestinian debates that happen elsewhere. But their tone has been remarkably civil. We believe this is because the disputants have eaten together, studied religious text together, and even done social action projects together.
Both of us, imam and rabbi, have received angry letters from coreligionists, accusing us of naiveté, and sometimes worse, of betraying our respective communities. It's a strange world we live in where the sight of a Jew and a Muslim at a café could provoke such suspicion. But the fact that this happens means our friendship is a powerful thing. Our modest peace plan is working.
Imam Abdullah Antepli and Rabbi Michael Goldman are chaplains for Muslim life and Jewish life, respectively, at Duke University.

Dr. A ♥ O reacted to thongd4me in My mom & neighbors love my new wife
After divorcing I moved back into a large separate apartment in my mom's house.
She is 84 and I sometimes worry about her being totally alone while I'm at work,
but she is very strong and self-reliant and doesn't have any major health issues.
I've always had good relations with our oldest neighbors but since my wife appeared
they have been much friendlier and closer. We have an Italian couple that has lived
next to us for almost 50 years and I knew all their children. Their best friend is a
widowed Korean lady who was married to an Italian-American during the Korean war.
The wife sometimes brings food to my mom, not because she thinks she can't afford
food or is starving but because she's a good Christian lady and it makes her "feel good."
She treasures the neatly typed thank-you notes my mom gives her.
Last night we were invited for a chat at our neighbors home and she told me how
she came to America. Her mom was US born but her grandfather wanted to move
back to Italy and he did with his family. Her mom got her a US passport in Rome
after WWII and sent her to live in our neighborhood with her aunt who was still
living there. You can imagine a 16 year old girl coming on a week-long sea voyage
all alone from Italy in the year 1950, not speaking much English.
She started working in the garment industry in the Bronx almost immediately, but
soon grew homesick. Her aunt, seeing her crying in the basement said that if she
didn't stop this, she would pay for her passage back to Italy because she couldn't
deal with this as America wasn't such a bad place.
From then on she stopped feeling sorry for herself, met her husband, got married
and had 3 kids. They are 2 of the nicest people I have ever met and because my
wife came here I am closer to them, which is something not likely to have happened
    if I stayed single.
A guy living alone even if he is liked by neighbors is
treated differently from someone who is happily married.
People who are unhappily married are avoided by all.
My neighbors will provide statements for her AOS when
we are called for the interview.
I don't need any advice on this one, just happy to share.

It is extremely difficult to reschedule an AOS appointment - generally, unless it is a matter of life or death or you are in the hospital, they expect you to change your other plans rather than change the AOS appointment. There have been individuals who have tried to reschedule due to other commitments and were told they had to show up or would be denied, or had applied to reschedule but the original appointment was not cancelled as they had thought/were told, and they were then denied due to failure to show up at the interview. They needed to apply to re-open their files and then wait a number of months before they received another interview. Rescheduling biometrics is easy; rescheduling actual interviews is extremely difficult and should try to be avoided at all costs.

Life is all about setting priorities. Did you ever consider that the AOS interview is an important event in your life, perhaps more important than your travel plans? How about rescheduling your travel plans instead of the interview appointment.
    Just food for thought . . .

Just have them ask for an employment verification letter. I imagine most HR departments will know what you need. Regardless, here's what mine had:
    Employer Name
    Employee Name
    Position Title
Position Type (exempt, part time, etc.)
Start Date, and indicating that I am currently still employed there
Salary information & how many hours I work per week

Because you never reported the abuse unfortunately it's easier for him to ROC without you. I am in no way saying that's your fault, I understand the fear I'm just saying NOW you need to protect yourself from that and you need to report it. Doing it now should be fine. Have your sister who witnesses the easter attack on record as a witness.
I hope you kept records of his emails and threats etc. I think you should file for divorce on the grounds of abuse. I also think you should file a restraining order (it will help stop ROC). I would report the death threats etc to police. Make sure it's on his records.
Contact ICE (like said above) and give them all this information as well. You might not want a restraining order but you need to protect your child and yourself and that's the first step.
    Best of luck.

I went 40 days straight without internet for not knowing this and I went to a private Christian college preparatory high school. LOL! I don't remember any of that though as High School was 13 years ago? I do remember it was a time of reflection about the things you've done wrong. It was a nice period of introspection but I didn't dwell where I've dabbled. I did discovered that it is incredibly difficult to find a job without the internet these days. I am crossing my fingers that I got this one job though and hear good news back on Monday!
