Hi VJ family.
Quick question, do Canada still require the mandatory full vaccination before flying?
Do they accept a PCR test?

Greetings VJ Fam,
I know I have asked this question before, but I want to ask again and make sure nothing has changed so far. I recently got my 10yrs GC, my wife and I will be going to Canada briefly. My question once again is, do I just fly with my GC and nothing else to be filled out online or bring along to present at POE?
Thanks.

Look at the date on your green card, based on your statement that you arrived in the US on June, 2022 it should say LPR since June Xx, 2022.
That being said, just keep it simple and apply 3 years from that date or June, 2025 by my count….or 90 days before that date …not “ in 3 months onward “Okay got it, thanks.

The opportunity to apply for naturalization begins 90 days before the 3 yr anniversary date of your Green Card ( valid since …. ) .. as long as you remain married and in marital union with your sponsoring USC spouse
So are you saying I can apply for naturalization in 3 months time onwards?

Yes. Will you be interested in applying for citizenship?
Yes of course. When is it right for me to apply for citizenship, after two or three years?

This is actually a serious matter you should never ever register to vote until you become a citizen
Yeah sure, the lady at the license office confirmed it yesterday that I cannot vote until I become a citizen. So I'm good.

it is not automatic/ it may be on the application for the license BUT DON'T
Do not register to vote / that will be on the voting register and although u can vote in local elections, any officer for your naturalization will scrutinize your intension to vote as a USC
and sorry but what would u know about anyone running for office at this time / most americans are unaware of what they are voting for
Okay, the lady at the cubicle filled out everything on the PC. I didn't fill out anything myself. I only remembered she asked if I would like to be an organ donor and I said no. Incase she registered me to vote, can it be undone as I would be going back there after 7 days to take another written test. Should I ask whoever that will attend to me next if I was already registered to vote?

Greetings VJ family,
I arrived the US this month and went for my DL application and written test in North Carolina last week. I failed the test and would be going back after 7 days. My question is do they ask if one want to register to vote or is it done automatically during the DL application? I read on this forum yesterday that it is not a good idea to register to vote as a GC/I-551 holder as it will affect one when they want to become a citizen.

When you arrive in Canada, a border services officer will ask to see your passport and proof of your valid status as a permanent resident of the U.S. or other documents.
When you travel, make sure to bring
- a valid passport from your country of nationality
- proof of your status as a permanent resident of the U.S., such as a valid green card (officially known as a permanent resident card)Okay, let me get this clear. I have my passport, the Ir1 visa on it which I used in entering the US and the I-551 stamp on it, would they allow me enter Canada with that? Still waiting on GC to arrive in the mail

Greetings all,
I arrived the US on the 28th of July and still on the I-551 stamp. I want to visit an uncle in Canada with my wife who is a US citizen, do I need a visa to enter Canada and if yes, how do I go about getting one? I have a Nigerian passport.

There's none.
Did you pay the $220 fee? If so, the GC will be mailed to your address
I have no idea, I will ask my wife if she did pay while doing the USCIS filing initially because she said she ticked for the GC to be mailed as soon as I arrived the US.

How long did it take you from when you had the interview to when you when to check DHL?
It was refused after the interview and asked to bring original documents. I dropped it off at DHL, it was updated to AP the next day. It was on AP for two days and issued on the third day. I waited for notification from DHL, it didn't come. I went to DHL location two days after my visa was issued and picked it up.

Have you tried going to the DHL location? Same happened to me, I didn't get a notification that my visa have arrived the DHL location. I went there, lo and behold, my visa was there.

I don't think it will take long. I had a similar case. After submitting original birth cert, wife's divorce cert and our marriage cert, visa was issued in 5 days.
