  1. I had my marriage based I485 interview earlier this afternoon in Atlanta. Everyone from the security to the interviewer were super friendly!

I was little concerned as our case was out of box, meaning my husband is self employed and he is on unemployment right now and I have my own startup since I got my EAD
Also we don’t have many documents together except a car we own and joint taxes.

Having said that we have been living together abroad since 2017 and have tons of pictures.

    I literally took $60 worth printouts 😂

Now for the interview, as soon as we got in, our interviewer said alright I looked at your file and it’s good so let’s get you out of here quick 😀
And then it’s pretty much I 485 checklist questions and I made some conversation about us and he didn’t even worry about any of that. He only asked few follow up questions on my work out of curiosity and ended up updating self employed on my file and that’s it!

Unfortunately he didn’t find my medical and started looking up online and found a packet in Nebraska. He ordered for it and said I’m pretty sure that’s your medical and as soon as it gets here I’ll approve your GC which he said should be in 2 weeks.
If they don't find my medical in that packet from Nebraska I have to submit another medical. But pretty much from my interviewers words my GC is approved🙂

I shared my background in case anyone is in similar scenario!🙏🙂

Good luck for everyone who is having their interviews soon😊

  2. Hello VJers,

I didn't find any thread for current updates specific to local field offices!

Since AOS applicants just sit ducks waiting on their turn for interview, I thought a specific thread for this might help us get some rough estimates. I follow April 2020 AOS filers, but that thread doesn't help me anymore after receiving EAD/AP as interview waiting times depends on backlogs of your local filed office!

So, if any 2020 filers or even late 2019 filers start receiving interviews, please post your experience here. Thank you.

PS: Latest interviews happening in ATL are filed somewhere around October/November as per VJ timelines. I know USCIS might not follow a pattern, but something to go by I guess lol.

PS: I know, I know.. I'll update my timeline soon😷

    I765 & I131 approved!!

Hey guys, looks like USCIS is pacing up! (My guess is they are reducing the backlogs to take in more applications so their department can survive lol, either ways I'm super happy! )

Few people from Feb filers got their interviews done and a couple of them from March have their interviews scheduled. Looks like someone from April got it scheduled too.

Here is my case updates: Adjustment of status from K1 (No expedite)

    I485/I765/I131 received: 04/10/2020

    Biometrics for I485/I765: 08/12/2020

I485 -> Case is ready to be scheduled for interview as of 08/13/2020

I765 -> Fingerprints were applied as of 08/13/2020 -> New card being produced 09/14/2020 -> Case approved 09/15/2020

I131 -> Was in Case received state until 09/14/2020 -> Case approved 09/15/2020 (Looks like second biometric appointment is not needed, finally something makes sense with USCIS)

And for all those who didn't have their biometrics scheduled yet, I'm very hopeful that they will do it soon and just to make sure contact tier 2 officers.

Sending some good juju out for all of us to get to green card interviews soon! ❤️

Update: Received EAD/AP combo card today :)

We had 2 letters from USCIS, one was for the 485/765 and the next day we received another one for 131, but for a different date/location.  (the different location was probably because they didn't update our change of address on the 131). Contacted USCIS and they stated just to take both notices to the appointment that was near us.

in other words, yes we got a separate letter for the 131, and uscis stated just take it in with the others and get it done. I don't think they'll do it if you dont have the letter for it. then again, i cant see why they cant just copy the bio information from the 485/765 to the 131 later on

Cool, Thanks for clarifying. I guess now we wait for another letter :)

    485/131/765 all show

Case Was Updated To Show Fingerprints Were Taken

Hey Kayden, Did you get your biometrics letter for all three applications? I'm curious because mine just said for I765/I485. I had my biometrics yesterday and I asked the officer about my I131 and she said it was not scheduled yet for that particular application, which I found odd. Anyway My I765 and I485 status changed to Fingerprints were taken but nothing on I131.

This is good we are all finally moving to the next step. Does anyone have any idea how long between biometrics being taken and EAD/AP being approved/issued? I have been led to believe this can be approx 90 days but given we had big delays getting this far, maybe it might happen sooner (without expedite..).

From past cases it usually is around 90 days. But with USCIS, nothing is certain and on top of that we have a pandemic, so only time will tell for us 🤷🏼‍♀️

  7. Hey guys, I got my Biometrics letter in mail today. My case status is not updated yet, but super excited that it's one more step closer lol. Anyway, I'm adjusting from K1 and USCIS received my case on April 10th. I'll be going in for my Biometrics on 12th August in Atlanta GA and will update on my experience when I get back from ASC. If anyone is attending biometrics before me, would appreciate if you could share your experience post biometrics :)

A letter from a joint sponsor is no guarantee to USCIS that a sponsor can or will cover your medical bills. Anyone can write a letter and it isn't proof that a sponsor has the means to pay medical bills. If you get ill ,say with corona, and you end up in the ICU. your medical bills will literally be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. I don't know of anyone who has a few hundred thousand dollars, or even more, just laying around.

For example in 2012 I had emergency surgery for a perforated colon and spent 11 days in the hospital in a regular semi-private room(2 people per room). My medical bill was $103,000 and I wasn't in intensive care and this was 8 years ago.

I understand the risks of not having health insurance. It's a choice I made for the next few months until I get my EAD knowing the consequences. As for USCIS instructions I had to prove how I will support for any unforeseen bills if I don't plan on getting a health insurance and for that I submitted a letter signed by joint sponsor and his property and savings docs. He is way over poverty line and has lots of assets. I'll keep my status posted if I get any RFE for this.

  9. I wouldn't postpone applying for AOS. His draft says it does not include spouse of US citizen or PRs. So if you are already here and got married it shouldn't effect you. But the draft is not final and it is not yet signed as of today. So I would recommend submitting for AOS, so you can be in pending status waiting for GC. Also once you get married K1 is obsolete. So you don't need to worry about I 94. I would just focus on AOS. I just filed mine and got NOA1 text. Good luck to everyone who is applying.

April filers... for I-944.. Health Insurance Question. If you checked "yes" for "Do you currently have health insurance" what did you check for 15D? 15D asks, "Have you enrolled or will soon enroll in health insurance but your coverage hasn't started yet?"

I want to submit my packet today. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I don't have health insurance and I have no plans of getting it anytime soon. At least not until I get my work permit and get started on my business. So I marked NO and mentioned in the explain section that my joint sponsor will bare for any health expenses that may occur. And my joint sponsor wrote a letter for proof of relationship and mentioned in the same letter that he will cover for me for any medical expenses that may incur. I only just got my NOA1 text. I'll keep my status posted here if I get any RFE. I haven't found anyone who did this on visa journey but I took a call for myself as I didn't wanna use my family's funds to get health insurance when I am not earning at the moment.

    Thank you!
I mailed the application on the 7th and it was delivered the 10th.

@ecuatorianos2018 I mailed my packet on the 7th and it delivered on the 10th as well. Haven't heard back anything from USCIS yet. Hoping to hear something soon based on your timeline. I'll keep my status posted here. Feels good to have updates from few more going through the same process with similar timelines!
