Hi there! Personally I reached out to NVC just to get updates from them (this was during the COVID standstill) that was for peace of mind. But to be honest, the consulate has the authority to extend an expired i-129f approval so long as you respond to their letters/emails or follow instructions. Keep tracking your application to make sure you don't miss anything when it is time to schedule interview etc. That way you should know roughly when you'll receive instruction from them. Congrats on the initial approval and hope they don't keep you waiting too long for your interview!

I think OldUser is right, the wait times for an interview are very long right now, and I doubt pregnancy will be considered to expedite. Saying that, I applied for AOS Dec 2021 in NYC, it was saying 18 months and I was very lucky to get my interview within 7 months and received permanent resident card a week after. So I hope your case gets lucky too. If not, hopefully you applied for AP and that gets approved soon! Good luck and congratulations by the way!

Depends on household size. Income amounts are 100% for k1 and 125% of poverty guidelines for AOS. If US citizen is using assets then it’s 3x the amounts in the table for your household size. But each country is different on whether they are happy with assets alone. Good luck.

Also which country are you sponsoring intending immigrant from? It would be good to fill in your timeline and profile so you can get a more accurate response.

Hi there, Could you clarify a couple things… You’re in the K1 visa section (fiancè) and talking about the I-134 which is correct if using this visa. But you mention you are already married, so are you talking about sponsoring your spouse to come over or someone else? If it’s your spouse, you will need a spousal visa and not a k1 and the affidavit of support would be I-864 not the I-134. If your spouse is the intending immigrant, that is where you put “1” on the I-864, you put “0” for spouse and “0” for dependents. For the last 3 years, you put down TOTAL INCOME line from Transcripts and current income you should write down what you make right now, backed up by pay stubs and employer letter confirming the amount. If this is about someone other than the spouse coming over, please give some more information about visa type and intending immigrant. Good luck!

I did my interview September 2021 in London and I handed over 1040 package, employer letter and recent pay stubs. All were fine . Hopefully you get the Transcript but if not, it shouldn’t be a problem in London! Good luck for your interview!

Honestly when I had my AOS interview back in July this year, we were asked to provide any joint things we had. We simply handed over our joint health insurance, and joint phone bill, because I too did not have my SSN. We just told the officer that I hadn’t received my SSN yet and she was happy with that. And took the two we gave her. We had updated pics, from wedding and recently holiday, but she was ok not seeing them. I’d send in what you have, add phone bill too if joint on that. Pics if you’d like. Maybe also send a letter explaining you have not yet received the SSN, and as soon as you do, you will be opening a joint account and adding them to other finances etc. Good luck 👍🏻

I doubt this will even come up or be a problem, but the birth certificate she will take to the interview will show her mother and fathers full name, so she can probably just show them this if it does come up. I wouldn’t worry too much. Good luck 👍🏻

Honestly I wouldn’t waste your money on lawyers. You have two options, stick with your K1 or get married and apply for spousal visa. If I did mine over again, I would 100% choose to go the spousal visa route, I waited almost 2 years to get my K1 and was lucky my AOS only took 8 months, most are taking 12-15 months at least. Problems I personally encountered: K1 took 21 months (CR1s at the time were being approved quicker). More expensive and time consuming as you have to pay and fill out forms for both K1 and AOS. SSN was frustrating to sort and not having a bank account or Drivers License for 8 months. Not being able to work and have an income for many months. Many fiancés think this will be fine but when you could be waiting well over a year for an EAD/AOS decision on top of the K1 processing time, the lack of income, relying on the other spouse, and honestly you get bored just being at home. Even in NYC, the first few months were great, exploring and keeping busy, but then it just drags on and I have never wanted to work so much! Lol. This is from the beneficiary’s point of view. I understand you don’t wish to pay two sets of house bills, I get it, but until either the K1 or CR1 would be approved, this is just how it is. The problem is when the K1 is pending and you’ll be traveling, TSA could ask for ties to their home country to make sure there’s no move attempted, if your fiancé gets rid of their apartment, then you are questioned, it could look like an illegal move and they have a right to not let them in to visit. Unless she decides to move in with family over in Canada, and keeps her job etc. From the UK we get a maximum of 90 days on ESTAs, I think Canada is 6 months from what I have read. And only being an hour apart is incredibly lucky! Most fiancés are located far around the world and can only visit a couple times a year because of how expensive it is and work obligations etc. I’m just saying from my experience and if I was in your position, I’d get married and apply for CR1 and visit as much as possible, considering you’re so close to one another. Two months of waiting for the K1 is not a long time, so I would get out of that now and take the CR1 route. Good luck with your journey!

If you do plan to get married in the UK, yes you would need a marriage visitor visa valid for 6 months. This visa is only for people that want to come and get married and not overstay the 6 months validity of the visa. In other words, not to move to the UK after marriage permanently. Wasn’t a problem for us when we flew from New York to Florida in July, I was still waiting for approval for the AOS, so as long as it’s pending, it will be fine 🙂. Take a copy of the NOA1 if you’re worried, for peace of mind but you shouldn’t need it!

I only ever went online to print my I-94 record for K1 and adjustment of status. This is perfectly fine. If I was starting the process now, the CR1 and K1 have similar processing times, so if you are ready to be married, it’d make more sense financially and when you enter the US with a CR1, you can work pretty much right away, with a K1 adjustment of status, you could be waiting anywhere from 6months to even over a year depending on US location on top of the long process of the K1. You could always do a wedding at a registry office and then a proper celebration whenever you had planned. Even though I did K1 (which was a mistake I feel now because I almost had to wait two years for it). When I came to the US, Covid restrictions still were not allowing tourists to come over, so we had a small (6 of us) wedding in Central Park and we are having people over from the UK next year for a big celebration so we had time to organize, but it means you could file CR1 after you get marriage certificate, if you are ready, it really wouldn’t delay it by much and a lot more benefits to go CR1. But of course it’s your choice 🙂.

I don’t see a problem with you submitting the I-129F whilst visiting in the US, just as long as you don’t overstay the time allowed for you to be there and of course if you were to get a K1 interview sooner to go back for that. Hopefully others that have done this can chime in, but I don’t really see a big problem. Good luck with your journey!

Just an update: We went without the letter and filed online with my new SSN because the paper filing seemed to be extremely backlogged. Our bookkeeper submitted it around 10 days ago, and we already have the refund direct deposited into our joint account.

Just a general case number, not country related. When your case heads to your embassy, you should receive another, mine for example started with LONxxxxx etc, but that is embassy stage.

Just double checked for you and now I remember this is how I did it. DS-160 followed by setting up my visa interview appointment through https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-gb/iv you can pay the delivery of passport and the MRV fee on there, so I think this is the stage the courier fee gets taken. Then I immediately called to arrange medical. After all those are sorted, I used the next 4 weeks to gather up recent documents/updated photos/evidence and got any immunizations I needed. It’s a lot cheaper to do it at your doctors if you need any and they can sign it off for you so as long as you file your AOS when in the US within the year, you shouldn’t need to go back for another medical, saves a lot of money.

If you did want to make sure you get the medical, you can always call, they are very good and may let you know the approx wait for a medical appointment, that way you may be able to get a better idea for when to book your interview for.

Hi there, I remember I was also confused at the steps, and if I remember correctly, after I submitted the DS form, I went ahead to find an interview appointment, I thought I did the courier service after that point but maybe it’s slipped my mind. But it was not a problem for me in London to get a medical appointment. In fact they told me they had some appointments available but nothing earlier, until I told them I already had my visa interview and it was on “x” date, they managed to fit me in around 5 days before my interview. The results weren’t at the embassy in time for the interview, but I received my visa after they reviewed the medical documents a couple days after the interview. This was not a problem. Maybe just allow some weeks between now and the interview so you can get that medical appointment booked before. Hope this helps and others can chime in.

These are very fast EAD approvals and very lucky, as previously it was taking 6-12 months. I deem myself lucky and I didn’t even receive my EAD before my AOS approval which took around 7months total. You definitely shouldn’t be worried that yours hasn’t been yet as it’s well within processing time. I hope your EAD gets approved shortly as I know it’s hard to see others get theirs and still be waiting . Good luck!🤞🏻

Current address. You can change address when you move into your new home. It may not be necessary but when you move, you could always pay for a couple months so that any mail in your name that goes to your previous address can be forwarded on to you. That way you shouldn’t miss the NOA2. Also make sure you check updates online so that you know when you should expect to receive the NOA2 from USCIS. That way you can chase it up if needed. Good luck!
