Caresse33 reacted to HRQX in B1/B2 visa for my parents in law
The US consulates in the UK are only doing emergency B-2 appointments: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/wait-times.html Also there is the indefinite COVID travel ban for those recently in the UK (unless exempt):

Caresse33 got a reaction from Jamie B in London CR1 / IR1 Appointment Updates
My 14 year old son had his interview on Monday and it went well. He was only ask 1 question ‘Where do your parents live? He was approved and was told to wait for the collection email to get his passport at DX. However DX has sent an email stating they will close their facilities and the passport will be delivered instead. So we had to register for delivery , he should receive his passport tomorrow. We are super excited! I am sorry to hear about everyone else having their interviews rescheduled. I am bit nervous having him flight during this time he has to test 72 hours before his flight.

Yay congrats to everyone who got their dates today!!
I finally managed to have a full FaceTime conversation with my husband, between a hectic day for me at work and him traveling back from London. He told me a little bit about the interview process and I wanted to share that here.
He was at the embassy for a total of 40 minutes. He arrived 30 minutes early and waited for a while. There were two stages, first was biometrics. The woman taking his biometrics asked when he was planning to travel to the states, and he said hopefully before Christmas. She said visa processing is taking about three days after approval.
The second stage was the actual “interview” but it was more like a conversation. The woman asked three questions:
How did you meet your wife?
Why did you decide to propose?
How and where did you propose?
Apparently it was all very easy and casual, and she approved him after about three minutes! She told him to expect the visa in 1-2 weeks, but I think that they are just required to say that - it clearly hasn’t been taking that long lately.
All in all a pretty easy experience (except for the 18 months of waiting of course lol). The only documents he was asked for were passport, courier letter, and embassy appointment letter. It still doesn’t feel real that he could be here by Christmas!
Congrats again to those who got interviews today! And I will be thinking good thoughts for those waiting to hear in January 🤞🏻

Hey guys,
This is a Joyous Day.... APPROVED!
July 12th - Submitted documents to NVC.
July 27th - Document Qualified.
November 13th - Email of December 14 appointment.
Checked in at Embassy 30 minutes before my 11:30 appointment time this morning and spent 40 minutes in total there. Most of the time spent waiting. Interview itself was 10 minutes.
3 questions:
Where did you meet your husband?Where does he live?
When are you hoping to go to the USA?
They were all super friendly and helped me feel relaxed.
After he said, "I will approve you today""
I heard nothing else he said lol!
I was just relieved the process was over!
This has been quite a journey but it's all worth it.
Good luck to everyone with your interviews and for those waiting on interview dates, hang in there.

Caresse33 reacted to DMaP3 in CR2/IR2 (children) Interview Appointment Update
Hi Caress33, I wouldn’t upload the custody document unless they ask for it. To be sure you can email AskNVC via your account if your application is at NVC stage. Once your file is at the Embassy you can also email them to confirm. I was able to get advise on documents quite quickly using both these email services. Definitively your sister should carry a copy of the documents when attending the interview with your son.

Hi, my daughters aged 15 and 16 were with me at the interview. The first officer, very friendly, casually spoke to them chit chatting about how they were at an age to obtain a driving licence in the USA. No official questions directed at them.
The second officer who asked the official questions directed all the questions to me. From my understanding they only require the children to be present. I guess this gives them an opportunity to get a sense of the relationship you have with your child. The only question relating to them was regarding custody as my daughters are from my previous marriage. However that wasn’t a problem as I was not asked for paperwork to support my answer. I did bring it though just in case. The official was satisfied with my verbal answer that their dad and I had a parental agreement in place which showed he supported the girls decision to move with me to the USA.
Overall the experience was pleasant and the process swift. My daughters enjoyed the whole experience.

No need to apologize. It was accurate. It’s just that I am familiar with how many are fairly lost in this process so adding a layer of foolproofing will help. Also there’s always those from other countries who want to chip in and their experience at another consulate may not be the norm in London. Every consulate has their own vibe for how they handle things.

Your thread title is going to confuse people who don’t know that much about the processes or visa names. Your question is about the children/stepchildren of IR1/CR1 visa applicants who are getting IR2/CR2 visas. A moderator can amend the title to something like:
London CR2/ IR2 (CHILDREN) Interview Appointment Updates LONDON
