Have you checked your MyUSCIS account to see if the card has been issued? You can send an inquiry if it's been more than 90 days. That said, ours took over 170.

Governments share info. If it's not "technically" legal in the US, they send it to the UK, in the interest of national security and have the UK report back the findings. People who think they are sneaky just aren't. Someone, somewhere, is always watching. The OP needs to remember CBP are looking out for the best interest of the US to keep borders secure, facilitate trade and prevent terrorism. USCIS are ultimately responsible for applying immigration law. If CBP thinks your fiancé is questionable and a potential threat, as defined by policy, by overstay or potential illegal work, they will exercise their right to apply the policy. Again, the US owes nothing to your fiancé, just like her country owes you nothing and could threaten the same to you if you demonstrated the same pattern there.

Congrats on finally getting the interview scheduled! If you search the forum, there are many reviews people have written regarding the Montreal Consulate. The biggest takeaway is you can't bring in phones, smart watches or tablets, so leave those in your hotel. You might be able to get a locker, but if you have somewhere safe, just leave them there. Also, no bags. Bring your paperwork in a folder or something (I used an accordion flexi-folder with a zip) but no bags. Bring a magazine or a book because you could be there for a while.

N-400 3yr Rule and Evidence
mam521 replied to PGA's topic in US Citizenship Case Filing and Progress Reports
I didn't include any bank statements because we don't share a bank account. I included a mortgage statement, house insurance statement, a vehicle purchase, vehicle insurance for all of our vehicles, statement of beneficiaries for life insurance, copies of our DL's showing we live at the same address and plane tickets from a trip that was recent. I suppose the other required items were there (marriage certificate, etc). No issues, no RFE's. -
L1 visa with I-13O in process
mam521 replied to Lucy1982's topic in IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures
You can still come on an L1. They are independent petitions. When you filed your I-130, I'm assuming you indicated you would be doing consular processing? Someone here can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe you can do AOS unless you start over. Your current petition so based on marriage to a US citizen. If you were to come and attempt to adjust, it would have to be off of your work visa, so filing an I-140, waiting for it's approval, then filing the I-485, I-765, etc. It will take longer than a year. Many people are issued work authorization but still have a long road ahead before they receive an interview and then finally, the greencard. If you leave it as is, you'll have to go back to the UK for your interview, but you're a few months away from I-130 approval and then the London consulate doesn't take long for interviews. Hopefully you'd have your spousal based GC before your work term ended. No reason a spousal green card should be negatively impacted by a work visa. -
N-400 December 2024 Filers
mam521 replied to OldUser's topic in US Citizenship Case Filing and Progress Reports
You have to read a written statement out loud, write a verbal statement and then you will be asked questions verbally. Depends on your interviewing officer for how they manage the testing. Mine dispersed the questions throughout verifying my submitted information. If you get 6 in a row correct, they stop there. -
Not so simple for Canadian passport photos. Just like the Montreal Consulate is sticky about things, Passport Canada is ridiculously sticky about passport photos, sizing, shadows, backgrounds and who can take them. It's really annoying as a Canadian abroad because I could take my own photo with a far superior camera that would turn out better than a Walgreens any day of the week, but it's not accepted.

N-400 December 2024 Filers
mam521 replied to OldUser's topic in US Citizenship Case Filing and Progress Reports
US Citizenship Test 2025 app. For real. Just set it to ask you 50 questions and do them over and over until you score 96% or higher. You can tell it to do less questions if you only have, say 10 minutes to work at it. Worked a treat! -
Disagree. Hubs is the chef. He is damned good at it, too. He loves himself a good kitchen appliance. @TBoneTX if you can master the air fryer, there's no reason you couldn't master an Instant Pot! I cook well, but I prefer to bake. I made gluten free chocolate chip banana muffins for Kid 1 on Tuesday and then Kid2 and I made oatmeal chocolate chip cookies on Wednesday. They were tasty! Only a few left of each. Kid2 was petting his cat and turned to me and said "our homemade stuff is so much better than store bought, you know.".

Your body is supposed to be a temple, not a dumpster that you toss garbage into!

If you've received your receipt notice, there's nothing more to do until your case processes. You likely won't hear anything for a while. Processing times according to USCIS are at about 16 months. File that NOA, keep your login information for your MyUSCIS account and check it periodically. Don't hold your breath when it gives an estimated processing time because they are typically very incorrect.

Hope you two are doing well! I remember it was a bit of a battle to get there. You *can* get an expedited passport if need be, but I'd just pay the extra and get it FedEx'd home. Driving. DL and GC is all she needs

It's annoying that you go through all the effort of making copies and they don't even take them. At least that was my perception when I interviewed!

This was going to be my suggestion. Then you both might get a holiday out of the deal and it will be just the 2 of you to really spend time together. Another consideration to manipulate flights to give you better options is to put in a time when you want to arrive. It often helps. Or, either plan to spend more to get a better route or make an overnight stop at JFK, grab a quiet hotel room, have a breather and then proceed.

Definitely not mocking, denigrating or casting aspersions! Absolutely think you deserve someone who's the peanut butter to your jelly. Get yourself one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Magnetic-Accessories-Kitchen-Cookbook-Whiteboard/dp/B09668W7NK/ref=asc_df_B09668W7NK?mcid=3f0fc7fa2cc83738882cddd14422ce0f&tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=693405620605&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=5931506800820510992&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9189406&hvtargid=pla-1379446879414&th=1 It should open up the possibilities for you to try some different things. Basically anything can be cooked in the air fryer. I usually do refrigerated chicken breasts. Season. Toss in basket. Flip half way through. Since you're local, we quite like the John Henry seasonings and rubs. My brother makes me haul the Texas sized bags of it up to Canada for him. When I was stuck up in Canada waiting on our interviews, hubs brought like 4 or 5 bags of it. I was headed to visit and Kid2 made me bag the seasoning like 5 times because he hated the smell of it and, of course, it was in the back of the vehicle behind him for the 7 hour car trip 😄. Do you BBQ grill? We do foil packs with potatoes, carrots and whatever else, a little bit of olive oil, seasoning and chuck it on. When it's nearly cooked, we do the proteins. I also really like a sweet potato foil wrapped and cooked to perfection. I keep meaning to try some peanut butter on said potato because rumor has it, it's delish. Shouldn't you be working on flipping that around? I mean you were the other half of the whole life giving...indentured servitude required! 🤣
