    @gaga520

Before mid-June when the USCIS still had their external card printing contract, the time frame between "Being Produced" and "Card Mailed" was just 1 to 2 days.

Since mid-June, the USCIS ended their card printing contract with the external vendor but did not staff its the internal print facilities sufficiently (Corbin KY print facility is closed and Lees Summit MO is operating below capacity).

As a result, the Washington Post expose revealed as of mid-July there was a backlog of approved 75,000+ green cards and EAD's in the "Being Produced" status awaiting printing.

Right now, it's about a 3 week backlog (15 to 25 days). My father's approved green card was sent to the production queue on June 29. It was finally printed on July 20, a full 21 days later. After printing, it was mailed on July 21 and will be arriving in MA today July 23 via Priority Mail.

@Chris and Jenn Even when your biometrics is completed, your case will still need to be manually reviewed by a USCIS officer. After the review and approval it will be sent to the production queue (where currently the printing process has increased from the time it is sent to the production queue from the prior 2 day wait to now over 20-30 days due to the severely scaled back card production capacity). With the impending August 3 furlough, don't expect your actually green card to be in hand until after Thanksgiving.

@Christine1 Just use your immigrant visa (IV)- it serves a temporary I-551 (green card) for 1 year from the date of entry stamped by CBP. The annotations on the IV even states so.  Because your card is in the card production line as of July 10, with the rate cards are being produced now hopefully your card should be printed around August 7. Unfortunately the furlough starts August 3 so that August 7 date could be pushed back even further without the $1.2B loan by Congress

Once my husband had his SSN, it was no problem. Your entry stamp on your passport serves as your green card for one year.

The process time frame from Card is being Produced -> Mailed is around 3 weeks per my case.

@gaga520 @exp23 @ljujas2019 For those who got their “Card being Produced” notifications after mid-June, the amount of time it takes to get the card printed and mailed out has now increased from the prior 2-5 business days to 25-40 business days per my congressional liaison

Here’s an article also summarizing what happened- basically the USCIS let lapsed the card printing contract with their external vendor mid-June hoping to transition the external print volume to 2 internal print facilities

However with the looming $600M deficit, they could not hire print workers for the internal facilities- shutting down 1 (Corbin KY) and reducing volume significantly at the only remaining print facility

My congressional liaison confirmed this as well when I reached out to see why I have not received a PR green  card sent to production printing queue in mid-July

I would first confirm again that you can't be added to your spouse's employer's insurance.
After that, I would check healthcare.gov for your state for a plan.

Travel insurance generally does not cover residents. You would be a resident upon entry with an immigrant visa.
There is no requirement to obtain insurance prior to entry. Having a plan for insurance is good (and showing evidence of that plan), but actually buying it before the visa is issued is not required.

    UPDATE:
    Following up ... :
    15.67% in Jan.
    33.89% in Feb.
    41.88% in Mar.
    81.80% in Apr.
    95.13% in May.
    73.41% in Jun.
From this, you might think that the order of focus is April, March, Feb, Jan, and June. But this is WRONG
However, the amount of actual processing (number of cases) was so HUGE for cases from June, March and April .. compared to Jan and Feb.
Of course, there are cases approved from 2018 too. But I never mention these anymore.

    UPDATE:
Transfers: 1000+ cases in May, and 100+ in April, just today. If your case is one of them, call USCIS and find out to where, and let us know.
Processing focus: April and March are almost equal in attention (82%+ for both). (Ends of) Feb. and Jan. took less than 5-10%.
EDIT: Apparently May and June were involved too - although not much processing in June.

    NSC only.
April is already being processed as I mentioned previous posts.

    UPDATE:
Following up from last week's update ... current statistics are:
    17.40% in Jan.
    37.20% in Feb.
    51.40% in Mar.
    92.60% in Apr.
    95.50% in May.
    75.90% in Jun.
    * May has the highest of cases received, even more than June, and hence the highest yield.
    * March has the highest processing, followed by Feb and Jan. Although it has been noticed that the processing in Jan and Feb are in decline, however, March is steadily processing.
    * I-129F denials seem to be associated with I-130 approvals thus far.
    * The overall rate at which cases are being processed per day has noticeably increased, although not by a lot, but should also help get rid of high yields in months like March, May, and June.
    * I except processing for Jan and Feb to quickly finish within the next 1-3 months max.
    * I also except the recent transfers to be quickly processed.

    UPDATE:
April & May have entered the picture with force: almost 200 cases were processed in April, and almost 2000 cases transferred from May alone.
Processing of March cases, and anything before that really, has decreased dramatically.
    Will post percentages later.

Observations over the past few weeks (take with a grain of salt)
Late Feb USCIS updated the text on their egov website and it no longer states E-filing location. (Causing a lot of 'case tracker' notices to go off) The new text from IOE to E-file to basically nothing indicates to me a streamlined processing path (just a theory based on the verbiage) A big number of "LIN" "paper" cases from Nebraska were off-loaded into the other service centers. (I've seen pretty much every month from Jan-June) The most recent one I've seen is April-May LIN cases A number of Nebraska "IOE" (wether they were submitted online or through paper) cases are starting to get processed.  Personal thoughts:
The other service centers will slow down on original files while picking up transferred Nebraska cases A lot of transferred Nebraska cases seem to take priority (probably because Nebraska were so behind) The USCIS service centers are basically re balancing the backlog of each center IOE cases will start to be processed in parallel with the LIN cases. (Theory: As more paper cases get finished and IOE cases start ramping up, I expect each service center to take IOE cases from a "pool") E-processing and going digital is a BIG USCIS push in 2019 and 2020.  Other visa programs and improvements such as E-Verify improve turnaround time for other visas/categories allowing USCIS to push resources/budget into other areas. The fiscal year for the US GOVT is October to September.  USCIS got a slight budget increase which could correlate to a few more folks being hired here and there USCIS operates mostly on the fees that it receives from applications Text directly from USCIS:

    eProcessing
USCIS’ goal is to make the filing and adjudication of applications a paperless process by the end of calendar year 2020. The agency has taken in, stored, and transported paper forms and documentation in the tons for far too long. USCIS is committed to using the technology necessary to support online filing and electronic records management. An electronic government is the key to increasing efficiency, reliability, and accuracy. USCIS is taking active steps to increase operations online.
USCIS is modernizing our IT strategy and business processes to enable all applicants to file for benefits online so that we can adjudicate cases electronically. This effort is called “eProcessing.” The plan is to create an online filing platform for each benefit request product line, gradually stopping the creation of new paper immigration records. Once digital, cases can be adjudicated with more current and comprehensive information. USCIS will be better able to allocate resource, see trends, and collaborate with other agencies.
Today individuals can file several forms online, including the Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card, the Application for Replacement Naturalization/Citizenship Document, and the Application for Naturalization. Online filing opportunities are scheduled to expand quickly because existing technical functionalities can be reused to facilitate an increased rate of deployment for subsequent benefit request types.

    USCIS Electronic Immigration System (ELIS)
$130.6M, 49 FTE In FY 2020, USCIS will continue the transition from largely paper-based business processes to a digital operating environment that facilitates end-to-end electronic processing of immigration benefits and petitions in ELIS. USCIS plans to continue enhancing ELIS to enable digital processing for additional forms. Furthermore, USCIS will continue with the Third Party Application Integration initiative which allows cases filed by third parties to be ingested into ELIS.

    What to expect:
USCIS going digital Once we get into full IOE land, times will speed up Cheers
    Mike
