Really sorry but just a delay not a denial. He can still be home for Thanksgiving. Did your joint sponsor make enough for 2020 and on current taxes? What's the age of the joint sponsor.it's not always about the income amount it's age, single marry and their responsibilities. They look at the totality of the whole picture.

Is joint sponsor employed or self employed. Also for proof of relationship pictures aren't enough show those visits with receipts and your communications showing you still talk and see each other when you can. Did you submit affidavits from others from immediate family?
The pictures were they with family and friends (especially the parents).

The joint sponsor is his cousin, born and raised in US, 31 years old, college graduate, real estate assistant, makes about $40k, single, no dependents. It is just my husband we have applied for.

My husband took a few pictures with him. Yesterday after the interview I sent them about 30 more pictures, including separate times I had been over to see him, screen shots from our video call as well as showing him talking to my kids and playing with them with screen filters, and then sent a picture of my passport pages showing the times I visited him. The last time was mid march to April 1st, right at the spike of COVID.

Please keep us posted here! We´re cheering you all on!

They refused his visa saying that his sponsor doesn’t make enough.. his cousin makes more than enough.. over $35,000 who has no dependents and is single. Then states he has to provide proof of our relationship when he took out marriage certificate and pictures! Ugh we expected him here this weekend before thanksgiving

Do I need to pay another $220 after my husband received the passport? It is written that after the receiving the visa we need to pay online before entering the USA. I have never heard about this fee.

That doesn’t necessarily need to be paid before entrance, just sooner paid the sooner you get his green card. You won’t get the green card from USCIS until that fee is paid.

Saw a news article online:  "The Embassy of the United States in the Dominican Republic reported today that consular services, including student visa applications, continue to be suspended...this closure includes all routine immigrant and non-immigrant visa services."

Looks like we continue to wait.

The Embassy website usually updates their COVID-19 info weekly (Tuesdays), yet this week there is no update. 🤔

My dominican fiance has been approved since April but we have been unable to get an interview with the embassy in Santo Domingo. thanks for this info... please let me know if you find anything else.

i would like to join if possible, currently waiting for the embassy to begin scheduling interviews

Calls are already being made for appointments 🤞🏻

  7. I’m sorry, but that information is false.. Where other people with interviews in other embassies are posting they got interview dates already, the embassy pages still show that they are closed. Follow other forums and u will see that.. and that is what i am trying to find and follow. And the statement about the country barely being open for business, there are Dominican Government offices open since back in May. Make sure your info is accurate.. I was just there March to April. Just saying. I know what’s going on there and here.. Info on appointments will arise before the embassy declares it is opened.. and that’s what I am looking for. That is what this page is for.

  8. The Embassy isn’t giving much info .. I already follow on Facebook and check their web site.. I have been at this for some time, I know these things.. But better to hear from other people’s reports to get a better idea rather than waiting for the embassy to give more info than they are.

Oh okay great! Yep! We had a really hard time getting our AOS paperwork accepted, it took 3 tries. We are all good now but didn't get a biometrics appointment before all of this started so we are on hold.

You should join our what'sapp group! All people doing K1 and CR1 visas who have a partner/spouse in the DR! Do you want the info?

Good morning! Just wondering if I as well could get that info.. I haven’t found much for DR to follow here. Thank you in advance.

it looks like the D.R. may extend their state of emergency until July 1.  I doubt the embassy will open any sooner.  I am sure the embassy website will announce their opening as soon as they know something.  All we can do is wait...we should be used to that by now, but it's still hard.

I know about the extension and that they plan to open in stages as many countries are.. We are currently waiting the interview now. Finally this far and on a hold. Frustrating! To my understanding Santo Domingo embassy is doing emergency appointments only. Tired of waiting.

  11. Back in February NVC rejected my husband's birth certificate and I was told it was the wrong one (style) and also needed to upload my divorce certificate from previous marriage. I uploaded my divorce certificate but my husband hasn't been able to get the birth certificate they are asking for, especially now that the office where he would get it is closed due to the virus. Our priority date is May 24th 2019. What can we do if we get pass that date and our petition is still at NVC? Does the date even matter? It is taking them forever just to get back to our case.

  12. Today I did get an email requesting supporting documents to my expidited request. I have a video a local person who was present recorded as the incident was happening and pictures of the wounds he sustained. I will also be sending in the legal report, if they even documented (my husband is going to look into it tomorrow, as when he was released he never received any sort of papers neither when he went to the municipal office). I will also be getting witness letters from people (there were many) who were there and witnessed it all. I'm trying to gather all that I can to support my case.

Wow, that seems so out of place even for the police and especially military personnel in the DR to do that for no reason. I'm half dominican and go all of the time. You can try an expedition process, unfortunately unless someone there is after his life constantly or any emergency needs. The request will most likely be denied. DR is not a dangerous country outright as obviously there are neighborhoods of towns with higher crime and violence than others but as a whole its a pretty safe place. Sorry that happened and that is something that should be reported to the press or news, because even though the police is pretty corrupt there, they're not known for taking random people and beating them.

It is very common of the police and military personnel there. I see media on it all the time, as my husband and his family share a lot of it. They have marches and protests against the police and military there. They pick and choose random people just by the way they look; the way they dress, wear their hair, tattoos, etc.. It is all over the media there, and all over the country. That night they beat my husband, they were, what the people there call, vacuuming.. Another man layed in the nasty cell they had my husband in who, the same, committed no crime but they beat him and locked him up as well. I guess you need to have inside people to actually know the truth about what is going on there.. It is not as safe as you think it is.
