My husband didnt have any vaccines and at the medical they only gave him 2 of the required/ recommended idk which.
I have had 8 vaccines at once. It just depends on what the doctor recommends and your comfort level with multiple vaccines at once. IMHO

My husband won't have a problem getting them eventually. But right now he is between COVID vaccine shots #1 and 2. So, before the interview (which happens to be the day of the shot #2) he is not supposed to have ANY OTHER vaccines.
So I wonder what the medical suggestion will be from the physician.

  2. Hello friends,

My husband has a medical scheduled for April 26. He does not have his vaccine record - so will likely need all new vaccines - he is fine with this.

However, he is in between COVID-19 vaccine #1 and #2. He is scheduled to get the 2nd COVID shot on May 6th - day of the interview.

This means he should not get any other vaccines in the meantime.

    So what happens?

    What crazy times and circumstances!

    Thanks for any input.

Updating the timeline - many thanks to all who actively monitored and participated in the conversations (SalvadorBahia, DeParaquedasBrasi, 1700Hope, Hilde)

    • Married March 2019
    • USCIS took about 1 year, no expedites requested
    • General Consulate of Rio de Janeiro
    • NVC case created May 2020
    • NVC documentarily qualified July 2020
    • Consulate expedite request July 2020
      • Expedite declined
    • NVC expedite request October 2020
      • Expedite declined
    • NVC expedite request December 2020
      • Expedite declined
    • NVC notification for appointment canceled February 2021 (was initially confusing as it seems it is their systems sending this when they advance with your application for the interview)
    • NVC notification next day saying that the expedited request was accepted February 2021
    • Medical appointment was done based on the doctor's office availability (2 appointments were required as the results were not handed off same day)
    • ASC appointment for digital photo and fingerprints April 19 2021 (scheduled 9AM, the office opened 12PM to 4 PM - mandated by city rules it seems, for this week) - note: do not risk on doing it same day as the interview date
    • Consulate interview April 20 2021 - green card received (no same day delivery since with pandemic context they want people as soon as possible out of building; 10 days shipping over mail)

Total time: about 2 years (too many things that need to be improved)
Praise to God that soon we can finally be a family. Wishing you all the best and stay strong, the time will come when God has planned for.

Very helpful timeline. Thank you and good luck!! :)

I'm in a Facebook group with other folks waiting for an interview in Colombia. There's a theory that they've been sending out interview letters around the 15th of the month, but I wouldn't take that too seriously because the pandemic is still affecting things here too.

Let´s keep an eye out today for any interviews being scheduled then! :)

I got info from different sources and they are all different with as long as 2 years like you said and as fast as 1 year so i've been stressed about it. Thank you for your reply btw :)

The timeframe has drastically changed this past year because of COVID.

I can only speak for myself, but I submitted my I130 in Dec. 2018 and got it approved in Dec 2019.

All documents were approved by NVC in May 2020. I have been waiting for an interview since then.

1 year timeframe is very optimistic at this point in time.

My wife and I went through boundless for our i-130 petition for alien relative. We sent our packet with all the info to the texas based po box we were told to.  It's been 3 weeks we filed march 23rd it should have been there no later then march 26th. However uscis has not cashed the 535$ check yet, no response ethier. Is this normal? I was considering paying boundless for a reprint and sending the packet through another mail service we originally used ups, I'm worried they don't have our packet.

    1. This is very normal - especially during COVID19 times

    2. Fill out your timeline to get more specific answers, should you have any in the future

    3. You are very early in the process. Prepare youself for a long journey - be patient and stay determined!

What in the world are the US Citizen Embassy workers doing?  Did they go back home to the USA?  Are they getting paid to not work? Are they furloughed and just hanging out in Manila area.

In reality it looks like the US Embassy in Manila could easily be working with a skeleton crew for many more months.  I don't see them opening back up to normal staffing until somewhere in the year 2022.

This seems like a worldwide issue. Rio de Janeiro is also not moving along at all. Just doing expedited cases. I really thought in February things would move along quicker but it does not appear that way, unfortunately.

My wife wound up abandoning her first green card when her mother developed health problems back overseas and she became her guardian in 2014 for financial and  health matters. We have been living overseas since then and applied for a new GC in 2018. Before abandoning the GC she had a Social Security number, with significant contributions. We are now waiting for the interview. Her mother just recently passed away. I had answered, on the I-864 I believe, that she does not need a Social security number issued as she already has one. Was that a mistake? I still file married jointly on taxes using her social security number.

    TIA

My husband (non-US Cit) also has a SS from having lived in the US previously. He put that in the 864. I am unsure why one would need the physical card - but I guess it´s best to have it.

As of February 8, 2021, the NVC had a backlog of 188,390 documentarily qualified applicants in immediate relative IV categories awaiting appointments. (K-1s are like IR/IVs).l am just wondering what all this Embassy's and the NVC stands to gain by allowing this Cases accumulate like this?🤔☹️😏

l hope God touches them to start doing their respective Jobs.

I am one of those cases. But I mean... COVID happened so there´s that.

Honestly right now with embassies playing catch up with IR/CR category and opening and closing there's really no set time of month like before. It's a wait and see I am afraid.

How is it in Brazil now with COVID is it better? Is your embassy open now?

Brazil is doing terribly with COVID cases. 3-4k deaths per day.

It's unclear if the embassy is open or not. They are processing expedited cases but I don't think anything else... So I guess they are somewhat open.
