I didn’t realize I would be asking a lot of questions but I’m sure I’m not the only one. I don’t know if the ceac website is accurate or not. Just the other day it stated that my k1 visa status was in transit. Now it is saying that the status is ready. I’m wondering what this means as I had thought it would be a few weeks before I heard anything else. I’m guessing others have the same status and question. Does this mean that my fiancée’s interview will be sooner than I thought or does this mean something else?

It means you can schedule interview if you have already completed the DS-160 and paid your MRV fee.  Typically transit time is 1-4 days from what I've been told. Ours wenr from In Transit on Tuesday to Ready on Wednesday. We already have an interview scheduled.

  2. Does anyone know if there are currently any domestic travel restrictions in the Philippines? My fiancée and her two kids will be traveling from Mindanao to Manila in February for their medical and interviews.  Last thing I want to happen is them not being able to board their flight.

Ok, Thank you for the update.. I appreciate that.. The reason I was asking is because the NOA2 has an expiration date on it of April 2022.. I am guessing we do not need to worry about the expiritaion date if they are not able to accomodate an interview for us at this time..

How long did it take you to get your NOA2? and When did you get your NOA1?

You can look at the time lines to get that information for most people as long as they have entered it. See the timeline link

NOA was late December 2019. We got an RFE in May of 2020, but I responded quickly and we received NOA2 in June of 2020.

Hello, Everyone.. I have a question  that might be able to be answered in this section.. We have recieved our NOA2 and our case is on the way to the NVC..

My question is if we choose to postpone our interview is that possible?.. It says on the NOA2 that it expires in April 2022.

If we request an extension does anyone know how long we can extend it for and also.. Who should we contact to request the extension for the interview.

    Please advise.

    Thank you

More than likely you won't be able to schedule an interview for a year.. Maybe two. We were stuck at NVC for 1.5 years along with thousands of others.

  5. I have a question that is similar to this. Will my fiancée and her kids have to fly from Philippines directly to the US, or can she fly to another country where we can meet up for a short week vacation which would allow us to fly together to the US...

Do not schedule the medicial until you have a confirmed appointment. They are only vaild for 6 months.

I'm not going to do that. But I want to be able to schedule medical and interviews around the same time frame so they don't have to make two expensive trips to Manila. I don't know how many days in between medical and interviews we need.

Once CEAC status is READY:   Complete the online DS-160, print out the confirmation page, pay the visa fee, schedule the interview, schedule the medical.    Lastly, once the visa has been issued and is in hand get the CFO certificate

With Manila back in serious lockdown everything could be delayed.

Hank, is the info on your website still valid for the most part?

We already filled out the DS-160 and paid fees in 2020.

My fiancée has two children that will follow on k2. Is it still possible to do medical and interviews during same week?  They will be traveling to Manila from Mindanao and it would be easier to only have to go once.

I know from what I've read, that the medical is typically a two day process. I believe slec has limited hours and only open from Tuesday to Friday. Interviews are only being conducted on Thursdays. If medical was on Tuesday and Wednesday would that be sufficient time to have interview on Thursday?

Has anyone from this batch heard anything new regarding their application? A year and half now (not including NOA1) and still nothing :(

    Thanks,

We are still waiting. The Philippines is the biggest joke in the world. Incompetent leaders and organizations with nothing but BS restrictions, guidelines, quarantines and lockdowns have kept the embassy from operating at full capacity.

Even now with an average of 400-500 cases per day and they are still not opening the borders. Kids just barely allowed to go malls and restaurants. But not much in the way of opening schools.

    Just pathetic.

First, ask your friend to join VJ.))

Second...why are you pondering their future?   I assume it is their lives to live in these interesting, er..., times.  With them living in the Philippines, at least the cost of living would be significantly less.

He's 24 and she's 19.  I remember me back then.  I got jealous when my girlfriend thought Arnold Schwarzenegger was hot in some movie we went to watch.  Too much hormones and too much blood down there and not enough up there. As long as your friend is a good guy and hopefully she's the same they will have their fun and maybe will make a life together or will be a fond memory of each other after the year.

If they do try to immigrate, then I-130, AOS + IV (I-864 and DS-260), Interview, and GC.  And about $1500 in fees plus moving expenses (flight, etc.)  More if the fees go up when they decide to immigrate.

But doesn't the US petitioner still have to meet certain income requirements to bring the spouse with them?

Then there's the shock of a 19 year old American girl suddenly living in the Philippines for a year (during COVID insanity).  🤣

My thoughts exactly. She's never left the country before. She's in for a big surprise.

For marriage visa income requirements she could have someone she knows in the US sign on as a financial joint sponsor because she would be unable to meet the income requirements on her own.

Does the Philippines allow for joint sponsorship of CR1? I believe they do not for K1.

  11. I'm concerned for a friend of mine who recently got married online. He's 24 lives in the Philippines and just married a 19 year old girl here in the States. They are asking for donations so she can fly to the Philippines and live there for a year or so.

I don't understand I guess why someone would get married, yet not be in a financially stable position to pay for their own expenses. I don't think she's working.

So I'm curious about their future.

What are the income requirements for CR1? Let's say you get married online and then the US citizen moves to the Philippines and lives for a year with their spouse.

How does the couple immigrate to the US? Are they required to meet a certain income?

I plan on moving to a new place with my fiancé AFTER my fiancé enters the US; the new address would be different than the address on the I-129F form. So that means, that upon entering POE I would still be registered and physically living at the address as stated on I-129F, but after she enters, plan to then move to a new address. That being said, we would physically live at the original I-129F address for a couple weeks before moving (it's my parents place). I will be LEGALLY and PHYSCIALLY living at that address upon POE.

My question is when applying for adjustment of status after marriage, will it be a problem that I will be using a new address rather than the address that was on I-129F? Is there any steps that I need to take to officially report address change in that interim before applying for adjustment? Thank you.

The address change is not important.

    Hello everyone,

I hope that you are all doing well? I have a quick question regarding the Healthcare. gov. Can I get insurance from the marketplace and wouldn't be an issue with the K1 petition or I cannot?

I currently have insurance with my current employer but I don't see myself working for them next year and the deadline for marketplace is December 15th.

    Thank you for your insights.

I doubt they care who you are insured by. Many people change jobs, move have and other such changes and it doesn't affect anything.

Hey guys sorry if this question has been asked before.

We filed for the k1 visa back in September 2020 however we have been stuck in NVC hell since summer 2021.

We are pllaning to move to the CR-1 visa now and just get married online.

My question is since we have already met a few times in 2019 do we need to meet again after we get married next week?

Meeting in costa risca or another country is an option however I'd rather avoid the expense if we can.

A second question I have is so my SO is 23 will she need parental consent of any kind?

    Thanks in advance.

It's a gable either way. We have been at NVC since summer 2020 and there doesn't seem to be any end in sight. I've seen people cancel their K1 and file CR1 and already have visa. But they filed late last year. It's frustrating to wait. It's taking a huge toll on my fiancée, her two kids and myself. There are days when I think we will probably not make it.
