    1. Use her current legal name. If the parent is married now and has a different maiden name, then the married name is what's used. This applies even if the birth certificate was issued under the mother's maiden name.

    2. You can give a best guess. Then in part 8 additional information, you can clarify that this is an estimate and the actual details are unknown.

    3. put it by hand "present" or type it in with the PDF writer. This is a common issue.

    4. Yes, click "yes" and you won't have to fill out the current physical address.

What is this PDF writer you are talking about?

I'm trying to put together a list of documents I will need to submit the I-129 form. Particularly what documents I need FROM HER. And if any of the documents need to be notarized.

Here's what I got so far

    From Me:
    1) Proof of Citizenship. I have naturalization certificate (that is not in the greatest condition) and US passport. I don't have a birth certificate as I was born in Russia and became naturalized after I came here.

    2) Death Certificate of previous wife.

    3) Passport Style color photograph taken in the last 30 days

    4) Evidence of our relationship. Whatsapp messages and pictures from our meetings. We plan on vacationing in the Dominican Republic in 12 days. But we also have some pictures from when we met earlier in Kiev. Most of our correspondence is on Whatsapp with daily communication. It is in Russian. I will need to translate it.

One thing is I wrote Russian using English letters. Because I am not very fast with the Cyrillic alphabet.

    5) Letter stating an intent to marry her within the timeframe specified by the visa.

    6) Copy of her passport. Translated? Notarized?

    From Her:

    1) Passport style color photograph.

    2) Letter stating an intent to marry me within the timeframe specified by the visa. (THIS DOES NOT NEED TO BE NOTARIZED??)

She will need more documents for the interview. But right now I'm just trying to compile what we need for the form. Because we will be meeting soon its a good idea we get it done now so she can just give me the documents.

    Did I miss anything important?

    Thank you.

I don't think you need the messages from Whatsapp. Maybe later down the road.

    Hi all,

im really stuck with a situation involving an arrest that happened to me when I was 17.

basically, I was arrested with possession with intent. However, I was not actually charged (i would also like to use this time to say I actually was in the wrong place at the wrong time and had no involvement with these drugs, they was thrown on the ground so I was arrested as a part of the police process) I work for my local police so I know I don’t have s criminal record as I was vetted to highest standard when I got my job.

i do not have a criminal record, however I did a freedom of information request and this popped up. I have applied for this to be deleted from my police check record and just waiting back. My fear is that they will not delete and this will be used as a reason for refusal. Does anyone know where I would stand with this non charge offence? There is some exceptions to ineligibility but not sure if this fits, legal advice is just going to cost too much.

Thankyou in advance for any feedback.

Expunged, sealed, dropped or the likes.  If you have ever been arrested, charged or the likes...you need to report it and provide criminal records from your local or state record dept and you need to admit it on the form.  If you don't you are not being forthwith and could very well dig yourself into a deep hole.

Hello everyone!! I'm trying to decide if I need to put N/A or NONE in every space that is blank on my application?? Example: putting N/A in every space in physical address 2 & employer 2 if Ive been there for over 5 years, etc. I know the instructions say to do so, but I wasn't sure if it would be too much putting it in every single space that I already checked no for using the PDF file on the computer especially when it doesn't allow you. Please let me know what some of you did that have already got a NOA2.

Also, I was trying to see if sending the application through the FedEx lockbox would be faster than USPS? Is there a big difference or should I just stick to USPS lockbox since it seems most common?

How about NA vs N/A? I've seen this abbreviation on many other forms.

    Hi all,

I have a criminal record from 5 years ago that was expunge. I was arrested for two aggravate battery (domestic violence). My ex made them up but they were drop soon. In any case, I was arrested.

As these records were expunge, I do not have them. What should I do?

Should I ask my ex to write a letter stating what happened?  I do not have any document from the arrest.

    Thanks!

Very simple... Go to your local courthouse or even the State Criminal Records division and ask for your records. Even if something has been dismissed, expunged, dropped or the likes, you need to get a certified record.  If its been expunged, then the certificate will probably not have anything listed on it.   However, just because its been expunged doesn't mean it doesn't exist.  The FBI and Feds can still see those records.

  6. I will be traveling to the Philippines from USA in November and anticipate proposing to my girlfriend.

I am looking for any way to insure her engagement ring from damages, loss and theft, but cannot find anything. Because she will be the one in possession after we get engaged, I am not finding any insurance companies that will provide a policy.

Has anyone ever looked into this and found anything promising?
