  1. So, I have received an email on Friday saying there was an action taken on my case. I have looked online but there were no updates on my USCIS account. I have called USCIS asking what action was taken and they told me they are preparing my case for an interview so this is nothing major. Also, they updated me that my removal of conditions case has been transferred to the Field office on the May 6th. So I am expecting 2 interviews.

My friend just had both of her interviews removal of conditions and citizenship last week in North Carolina. Her husband was with her but in the waiting room. After asking her basic questions about her marriage and about 6 civic questions and reading and writing test the officer told her she could wait 30 minutes and take oath.

Make sure to bring your significant others for your interview just in case so they won't miss your oath. :)

I had my interview today in the Baltimore office. It was virtual and everyone I came into contact with were so lovely!

However, I did not get approved on the spot. I had checked on my N400 form that I had been arrested on 2 occasions but the charges were dropped and automatically expunged. I had ZERO documents to back up the expungement so she said she could not approve. I cried the rest of the interview. She said she would drag her feet and issue an RFI so I had ample time to get the expungement records I needed.

the interview questions she asked were:

    1. During the Cold War, what was the main concern of the U.S.?

    2. What are the 2 major political parties?

    3. What is the political party of the current president?

    4. What is the capital of your state?

     I forget the other 2.

I had to read “what do you pay to the government?” And had to write on a tablet “we pay taxes.”

The officer was so lovely. She gave me a pep talk about endurance. Made it clear she wanted to approve me but just needed those documents. I got my paper saying no decision could be made and was sent on my way.

I spent the next 4 hours driving to the courthouse and calling our central repository and uploaded the documents before I even got the RFI.

WHILE WRITING THIS POST, I got a call from the officer telling me I was approved and I didn’t even need the documents!!!!! God is so good!!

she said I will get a letter in the mail with my oath ceremony details.

Praise be to God - through Him all things are possible!

wishing everyone the utmost success in their journey going forward.

    Congratulations!!!

Just finished the I-751 + N-400 combo interview at the St. Louis, MO office.

Went in at 9:10 and came out at 9:31. US citizen spouse was present for the first 5 ish minutes and then it was just me later. Officer just verified all the dates and asked 6 questions and then verified my driver's license + passport + (expired) green card + SSN card. They took away my OPT EAD (was on F-1 visa before I met my spouse) and the EAD/AP combo card, lol.

They did not take any copies from me that I had printed, and didn't look at any other original documentation.

At the end they gave me a sheet of paper that said they have recommended my approval and that they will send oath ceremony appointment via USPS. Case status changed for I-751 as approved and for N-400 as oath ceremony will be mailed.

    Congratulations!!!

Most of I-751s take give or take 2 years. If you desire and eligible to apply for N-400 you can.

This is what I did. Since February 23, 2023 my I-751 case is received with no updates. I applied for citizenship on January,12, 2024. Some people who applied for citizenship in January already received interview invitation. I feel that removal of conditions cases is out of its priority list.

  5. I applied online January 12th, am waiting for the interview invitation, and studying online for the civic test, also there is an app called Citizen Now, however, I don't feel that I am dedicating enough time to this so I signed up for free online citizenship class via Zoom starting February 26th.

  6. Good morning,

I am working on my N-400 marriage-based online application and going to submit in a couple of days. Question: It is asking for evidence of being married for 3 years, I uploaded marriage certificate, tax return forms for 3 years. It seems like I sent all of it with my I-485 and I-751 application and thinking should I cover the period from my I-751 applying to present or covering past 3 years which I already submitted with other docs. How did you do it, any advice?

    Same here, no updates yet...

I am here with you. 266 days my ROC application status is still the same as "Case was received". I will be eligible to apply for citizenship in less than 60 days and this makes me joyful. I have heard that a lot of people have no updates on their removal of conditions applications up until citizenship interview and then approved for both. According to Visa Journey timelines citizenship process takes 3-6 months these days.

  8. I have a similar situation however I am a citizen of Ukraine and traveled to Ukraine and Poland. I always book my tickets for my maiden name and when at the airport I show an officer my green card and marriage certificate. I never had any troubles. CBR officers were very nice to me and I think they know that most marriage-based green card holders have this situation.

That's very optimistic. I'd say 6-9 months, especially with I-751 pending. But yeah, if my ROC wasn't approved recently I would have applied for N-400 soon.

I have looked VisaJourney N400 timelines and and it looks like the whole process takes a couple of month. Also I talked to a lady another night who just had Oath ceremony August 24th, she applied in May 2023. Another friend also told me it was fast for her.  Plus 2024 is an election year so they will make it even faster. So will see🙂

Has anyone applied for a visa to a foreign country using their expired Green Card, extension letter, and foreign passport? If so how did it go? We are planning to apply for visas to several Central American countries, which are otherwise free with a valid Green Card

Your extention letter means that your green card is still valid with it so any countries that are not required a visa if you have a green card will be good to go to without a visa but you will need to bring your green card and extention letter.

  11. There are very small chances that your fiancee will be able to get B1 visa as this visa has the highest denial rate, especially if previously denied for the U.S. visa. Consulate officers will see obvious immigration intent looking your case as previously denied for K1 visa. Also, even if she would get it USCIS do not like adjustments from B1 to family based green card. The best advice is to marry outside of the United States and apply for CR-1 visa. It might take longer but is the most right legal way according to your circumstances as i think.

    Three options:

    1) Wait until I-751 is approved to apply for N-400

    2) Wait until I-751 is approved and keep living as LPR

    3) File for N-400 when you become eligible, even if I-751 is pending.

    The choice is yours!

I see that most of people apply for a citizenship when eligible and gettting their I-751 form approved on the day of their citizensip interview. There is no reason to wait until removing of conditions is approved.;)

  13. Good morning! Today I also received my extention letter for the second time.  So I think this way they probably make sure that applicant received a document. Good for me as my green card expired on April 8th. I can use this extra copy for travel.

No biometrics or other letter yet.

I searched other month filers and most of them got their green card approved at the date of citizenship interview. So now at least I know what to expect. My friend got her second green card in 2021 within 5 month so will see how it goes;)

  14. I just called USCIS and they gave me receipt number that online says Case was received. I sent it 02/18/23 they received 02/22/2023, notice issued on 02/23/2023 and I am still waiting for notice in mail. The representative told me to call them back if I would not receive it by next Wednesday. My receipt number starts with SRC so it is Texas Service Center.
