Oooh woow that's good. Wanted to write my interview experience cause I went today as well. I guess no need cause I could have written this myself. My experience is exactly the same and said he couldn't see no reason to deny me the greencard and I should expect it in the mail in the two months.

I would like to encourage everybody and tell you to hang in there. Things will get better with no time. I totally understand the frustrations that come with this process. Be patient and hopeful and wish you all the best.

@KrisaT___ @CystashGlad to hear of your successful interviews, I’m thinking I’ll hear of a interview date soon but dreading them going over the I-944 as my wife was working up until covid hit and has been unemployed since, the info on the forms was up to date and relevant but not really applicable now, I’m sure others may have the same issue too?? Do any of you guys have your EAD AND SSN?? I have my EAD but still waiting patiently for my SSN!! 🤞😊

My state does driver's license request by appointment.  our appointment is next month.  we have ssn, bank account and utility bill (and all immigration documents (i-94 and NOA1/2)) so i am hoping all goes well.  will let you all know how it goes.

I think you’ll definitely be ok with having the SSN, best of luck and I’ll be interested to see how it goes for you...

I was hoping to get the SSN before the EAD due to the cost of health insurance etc...it’s so much cheaper being added to to your USC spouse’s insurance than taking out your own!! I may try and get a drivers licence with what I have, UK passport, NOA1, proof of US address etc and see what happens...could anyone else share any Drivers Licence success stories ???  With the bank account, I opened mine up on a prior visit and you only need your passport and proof of US address with Bank of America and it’s really easy to open, even easier i think of you joint it with your USC partner...

Someone said they got that with work authorization. Someone didn’t get that even with green card and needed to go to Social security administration and apply for SSN. With green card it takes very fast to get SSN.

Hey @Nastya_7smile thanks for the info, that doesn’t sound good seeing as it’s not looking like November before we even get some answer is the EAD! The SSN seems to affect so much not having it....

we are having this problem too unfortunately, we applied for her ssn in February, her I94 expired in May, and yesterday we got a letter from the SS office stating they are unable to give us a SSN because it's now expired...

@kayden123 I gave up with the social security offices, I tried 3 different ones and all gave different advice, some hopeful, but in the end it was too late as the I-94 expired....I’m just hoping to get it with the AOS I filed late May but hopefully it doesn’t take too long and I can get my wife’s Health Insurance and a California driver’s licence!!

My wife was recently able to get hers with this method as well.

@malajoe @brandonyjohawait So glad you managed to get drivers licences!! Does anyone know if this would work in California?? Having been on the website and looked at forums I’m not sure if the info you said you’d taken would work here.... I’ve not had so much luck with govt departments so far being here 😂 having unsuccessfully tried many times to get my SSN!!

I don't think he can get it if he's already here but I really don't know for sure.

To be honest I'm not really sure how important the international driving permit really is. I feel like they just mentioned it because I told them I have a valid German license and the international permit. So I'm just carrying it with me just in case...

I’m led to believe and it was also mention by my wife’s insurance agent that the International Driving Permit only comes into play if you need to claim on the insurance for some reason.... I’m not sure the cops really care as long as you can be identified with your licence whether it be foreign or a temporary US one...

I’m stressing out... we can’t get the Tax transcripts online from the IRS website and because of covid-19 there is literally no other way to get them. Offices are closed and mail services are suspended. We do have all the Tax returns & W2’s from the past 3 years though. Will they give us problems?

@Ela S. I wouldn’t worry too much, I’ve sent the tax returns and W 2’s and also a cover letter explaining the reasons why although they are probably obvious!! From what I’ve read on here they will either send an RFE when they eventually look through it all or ask you to bring them when you have your interview....hope that helps... 😊

What do you mean by incorrect card information? Your credit card? In our case, we just wrote a personal check for $1,225 and wrote my husband’s name and DOB in the upper part and on the left lower line “I-485 and biometrics fees”. It was accepted just fine. Don’t forget to sign the check. Good luck!

@portorusa Thank you, I wrote on the G-1450 form my credit card information and I think a 5 has been interpreted as a 3 so I got the whole thing rejected, I think I may use the check option now!!

  10. Hi, my AOS application was rejected today due to incorrect card information, I checked my photocopy and it looks like one digit may have been mis-read (so annoying as my phone number and email address was above, ugh), would it be worth sending a check instead and do I have to file brand new forms as they all look like they’ve been through a scanner and labelled and then signed through?? I think the EADform expires on 5/31 and it’s a bit close?? Any advice would be great....

I’m on my 3rd try as well. We will try to send off this weekend. I have been awake all day an night going over every form for mistakes. Second guessing if I should N/A or none in certain spaces, I’m losing my mind lol

So sorry to hear about it being your 3rd try, mine was rejected due to incorrect card information, I checked my photocopy and it looks like one digit may have been mis-read (so annoying as my phone number and email address was above, ugh), would it be worth sending a check instead and do I have to file brand new forms as they all look like they’ve been through a scanner and labelled and then signed through?? May 16 our third try was received at Chicago. 1st rejected for using the i-485 that expires 2021 even though that form has been accepted in some cases - according to the forums for AOS filers in April. Second rejection was for missing i-864 for K-2. I only included one for K-1 with the K-2 listed on it, but I realize now that they want a signed form for both - so make sure you send two of every form for K-1 and K-2. I'd be happy to receive an RFE as long as I don't get that packet back again in my mailbox! I'm hoping they will cash that check soon. I don't want to be posting in June AOS filers...

@taximan683 I’m sorry you have so much poor luck with the filing....I’ve just sent mine with a I-485 form that expires in 2021 and I’m sure I got it off the USCIS site but prior to checking before I sent it I did notice that the current form they had was 2020 so thought it’d be ok????

I strongly believe everyone could fill in the application 100% without hiring a lawyer. Those lawyers makes lots of mistakes most times even after paying the requested fee.

However, in regards to your RFE; their is no harm if you send the two copies.

I agree with @dutch_lee, I can’t believe the amount of RFE’s on here and it seems that a lot of them are of crazy mistakes made by immigration attorney’s.... it’s definitely food for thought when preparing your documents, I think when we send them in ourselves there’s so much more thought and personal passion goes into getting it as correct and presentable as possible due to the nature of what it is....

So I just called my SSA and they said that the need for health insurance is classified as a "dire need" to get a SSN. I am now waiting on someone to call me back and let me know if I can get an appointment. I literally told him I know of others in my same situation who are being granted interviews and I do not understand why they won't grant me one. So we'll see what they say when they call me back.

I believe you get your SSN through AOS when your I-765 is approved... which can be from 3-6 months (I think that's the average). I have a friend in NY who got his AOS/I765 approved in 4 months back in January... it's strange they got approved within a week of each other and so quickly, but it does happen! Most people though I think wait about 6 months for I765. That's just what I took away from the timelines given on Visajourney.

@YvetteSwow, let me know how you go, my I-94 expires on the 25th of this month and just assumed that I wouldn’t now be able to get one...

  15. 49 minutes ago, YvetteS said:

I'm so sorry to hear that. Truly frustrating. I have also applied for SSN through AOS... but if the offices re-open soon I might try and get one at the office.. not sure if that will mean I end up with 2 SSN's, but I will just explain the situation and see what they say.

@YvetteS thank you, it is frustrating, it’s cost me a lot of extra money purchasing a renewable 3-month health insurance plan and I seem to come across so many things that require an SSN that they should make it easier to get for a K1 or any other visa that requires you to require it... hopefully we get the SSN soon after applying for AOS, here’s hoping!!!

@Viking - Thanks for the info!

The “Case Returned to Agency” update popped up again when I logged into the SAVE system. My husband just called the office and it seemed like they couldn’t see the corrected data on their end yet either. We’re just crossing our fingers and hoping that it doesn’t take too long to sort out,  since his I-94 will expire in a month.

@PatSquared thanks for the information 😊, I didn’t realise you could log onto the SAVE system ourselves?? I’ve given up on trying again with the SS offices as I spent a lot of time and frustratingly got nowhere, I’m hoping I get one quickly when I submit the AOS packet, does anyone know a timeline for this??? With this new I-944 form I think having the SSN is essential as it allows you to easily get health insurance which is pretty much a requirement of the form or at least helps a lot it seems....

Thanks so much for sharing this. I have called my SSA over 5 times and every time they give me the same answer that they cannot issue me a SSN at this time. Its so incredibly frustrating. I am going to call again tomorrow and see what happens.

My I94 also expires mid June. :(

I got here early March and tried to get an SSN, I got part way and there was an issue with the K1 visa on the system showing as a work visa and they couldn’t process, they referred me to USCIS and the ‘SAVE’ system and it was resolved, the next day I went back to sort and the offices had all closed for Covid-19....I called and they told me to send my docs in and then I got a response saying I hadn’t included any docs, called again and they told me they weren’t able to issue through postal applications and I had to wait for the offices to re-open, I tried to schedule an appointment with several offices and they wouldn’t see me....i now have to submit my AOS without having an SSN so haven’t been able to sign up for medical insurance, savings account, drivers license etc....so frustrating, I’m just hoping I get it through the truest on the AOS form....

Yes its pretty crazy. Im petitioning for my husband. We are just hoping for a speedy process. But the offices have to open up in other for that to even happen.

We are hopeful too, I came here on K1 and recently got married to my USC in California, we struggled to get  a marriage licence and get married and now I’m preparing all these forms prior to the 90 day time limit, I couldn’t get an SSN due to the offices being closed so hopefully once submitted they can do that though this process too and I get the EAD in a reasonable amount of time too....good

    luck!!
