Birth certificates and birth certificate translations typically don't expire unless you are born again.
I know that the original birth certificate does not expire. I was just asking if they have a specific time frame for the translated copy to remain valid.
-
I've received an RFE for my I-485 requesting for birth certificate, which I did send along with the translated version by a certified translator.
However, I am wondering if there is an expiry date on the translated copy? I have attained the translated version in Nov 2019 when I needed it for my K1 visa.
Is that why they requested for my birth certificate again?

Lili_K Your still okay and will probably be cashed soon. You have another 1-2 weeks until it gets cashed (my estimate). So, the good news that things are moving forward although slowly. Best of luck and congratulations on your marriage!
Thank you! Good luck to you too 🙂

Looks like everyone's NOA is delayed? My package was delivered on 30 April. Check not cashed and no NOA in the mail yet. I hope I will hear something soon!😖

Nope,u can't leave US until u have AP or GC. Well u can leave but can't enter back if don't have that card i mentioned above. Don't know if USCIS will approved expedite ur combo card using that medical fam reason - i did mine with military order,PCS to another country.
Ah thank you so much for the info!
I don’t think I will be heading back anytime soon as my dad who is sick told me not to go back to indo. Covid is getting bad theremy husband is in the military too. 😊
And how long did it take you to get the AP/GC?

Quick question
ive done my medical examination in my home country before entering the US. I am currently at uscis appointed clinic in the states for my AOS. I just want to make sure that I don’t need to do any other medical check up? The front desk lady is filling up the form and photocopied the medical records from indonesia and attach it with the form I-693. Is that correct? As she wasn’t that sure either.
Thank you!!

You should absolutely submit the I-131 (AP) and I-765 (EAD) with your I-485. The I-131 and I-765 are free when you file with the I-485.
Have you looked at the VJ's Guide for adjusting status?
Just went to look at VJ's guideline, i was using another guideline i got from another site and wasn't as clear as the one on here.
but i got pretty much everything that i need to file. just waiting for a few more stuff!
thank you so much for the help!

If you mean your foreign passport, then no. The name change can actually be conducted using the marriage certificate. If you have taken your spouse's family name due to marriage, you can submit your I485/I131/I765 with that desired name. As to changing it at SSA, YMMV as to if you will be able to do this without a US government ID (i.e. AP/EAD or GC) showing the new name. Technically the SSA should allow you to change your name with just the marriage certificate, but there have been many failures trying to do that.
So i would need to get a US gov ID showing the new name before going to SSA office. is that correct?
-
Would a name change though SSA office affect your passport? would i have to reflect the nam change on the passport, forms etc?
And would i have to do the name change before filing I-485?

Filing I-131 will be meaningless if you leave before it's approved AND before you have the card in your hand. It's the approval that matters, not the action of filing the form. If you absolutely must leave right now, then your only way to re-enter will be to stay abroad and file for a spousal visa, which will take 1-2 years to obtain.
😞
So i am filing my I-485 now. on the instructions it says i need marriage certificate as the supporting documents. is there a difference between marriage certificate and marriage license? Went to the court house today and they have no idea what i am talking about.

APs are taking months, so unfortunately this wouldn’t work within the framework of an emergency.
Since the K-1 was a one-time entry, if you really need to leave now the only solution would be for your USC spouse to petition you for a CR-1.
Even if i file I-131?

You can certainly leave the country if you have to, but if done before the I485/I131 are submitted and the I131/AP approved will result in needing to go back to the beginning with a spousal visa application before coming back to the US.
Good Luck!
thank you!

Due to medical emergency in my family member, I am wondering if i am able to fly back before submitting my Adjustment of Status?
I have just gotten married on the 21st April and will be submitting the marriage License to the court house today..
I am still compiling the I-485 as fast as I can.
Would i have to file form I-131?

Good luck for your interview soon
Thank you for the information
Yeah I thought so too 🙂
Patience is important during times like this. Try not to think too much about it, you will receive an email from the embassy when they are ready for you.
Good luck to you too! 😊

ah okay sorry because you said "wife".
They sent an email to my fiance to say that they have resume K1 visa processing.

we received the email on 20th November.I believe you will have to wait until they email you the P3 before you can schedule an interview.

Hi, i think it is best to call the embassy in jakarta. They should be able to look it up for you.
I have received an email for scheduling an interview with them but mine is for K1 visa.

Did you get any form of expedition or have you been following through standard K1 Visa processing? I haven't been able to find official sources stating the resume, but would also believe that something like this doesn't have to be public.
Either way, good luck on the interview, and thanks for sharing part of the requirements in the screenshot. 🙂
No expedition. My medical was supposed to be march this year.
Let me know if you need the screenshots of all the requirements

Check the P3 Letter from Jakarta Consulate to see what is required.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gNE59CSXcFjVhiBa3tLYFclDtj3f0nCp/view?usp=sharing
Starting 1/2019 Indonesia requires the Tax Transcript and not the 1040.
If you find anything not up to date or the information is wrong, please share your findings. Please compare the date of the P3 of mine with the date from your copy, once you receive yours from your embassy. Keep in mind that I try and be factual with my information, but I can't do it on my own and that's where you come in and can give back to the community those who come behind you. Without others ahead of you I would not be able to provide this to you. I can only share factual information if folks like you continue to be my eyes and ears for your embassy. I wish you much success in your visa journey.
The email I received stated that I will need to bring an updated 1040. Although, I should probably bring the tax transcript too just in case they need it

That's great news. Our case is still at the NVC, I am assuming that we will need a letter or email to arrive before we can schedule an interview.
Yes, my fiance received an email stating that they have started k Visa processing and gave us instructions on scheduling the interview online and what we need to bring.

We are on the same page! After waiting for a few months, we tried calling for the MCU since we've got the nvc number via another phone call. Then they asked the embassy if this was something they could do, but unfortunately they didn't allow it.
I have email a few times too to see if they have started taking in interviews since i don't see any updates on the website.
I am guessing they will only start processing after the vaccine is out ☹️
