We got asked for it at the pre-interview document drop off desk not by the consular officer

My research tells me that the interviewing officer will probably not ask but some will. So you should have it with you. Bring bring whatever data you have. They are not going to comb thru every i-134 supporting documents. They will look at the income level on the I-134. When you do AOS, you will have to submit another Affidavit of Support. That is when they will probably look more closely.
