Correct. For Cr1/IR1 cases, NVC schedules the interview. Consulates notify NVC of available dates....then NVC schedules the interview and notifies the applicant....

If the embassy has received it then it depends. It took us about 6 weeks before we got the P3 email. I did end up paying the visa fee and just browsing to see when the available dates were but i got the P3 before any dates opened up. Right now they are open for August but they might be closed

Call in 1-2 weeks to see if they received your petition. From the date they received it, you can start counting how long until you receive a case number (7-8 weeks from received date)

Hi franc please fill out your timeline to help us all out with better data on the service center and process.
It's going to take anywhere from 2-8 weeks for your case number but you can always call once a week until you get it to get a jump start on the process. Snail mail is slow.

30 days sounds about right. In late 2016, it took our case a month to go from NAO2 to having a case number.......I don't think the process has improved much, if at all, since then........

Petition approval is only first half of the process, and it depends on the service center assigned, when you submitted it, any RFEs that are unknown that could cause delays, etc. Average is 6-10 months for the petition. After that NVC takes three months to receive the file and assign a case number, then you submit more documents and they take another month to process them, then if all is approved at NVC they schedule an interview abroad and depending on the country this can be anywhere from one month to three or four months later. So the total process from submission of the petition is averaging about 14 months from filing the petition to interview abroad, if there are no RFEs or other delays.

Welcome. The processing time seems to range between 7-10 months but each service center processes at their own speed. Luckily your case is in Potomac which I believe is (one of) the fastest processing centers.... If you complete your Visa Journey timeline, it provides you with an estimate of when you may receive approval. My case was sent to Texas and we received our NOA2 after 6 months and 6 days.
