  1. Sounds like a normal experience, I was only asked a few questions at my B2 interview. All the information needed is on the application form.

How old is she? How much does she make salary wise per month in R$?

When I had a Brasileira girlfriend I went over there a few times and I remember her 2 sisters got denied for a B2 and they are pretty well off by Brazilian standards.

I heard visitor visa b2 can be granted for 1 month up to 10 years. Is it true? And what if my parents say that they want to stay in USA for 25 days and then come back, will they be granted a 1 month visa? Or should they say they want to stay for 5 months so that they get a 5 year visa?

You are starting to sound really desperate to get them into the US. And desperation will only make it even more likely they will be denied.

They say the truth. It's really simple. Fill out form online, go to interview, answer questions. So simple.

It's worth a shot. All I can say is in that part of the world, it pretty much depends on how is the officer that day and what's his mood like. My story is my own mother, who is a dentist, had her own practice, owned her own house, lived with her father and her son (my brother) and had significant shares in a successful company (belonged to my late father). She interviewed for the B1/B2 three times and was turned down all three (two for was for graduations for my undergrad and graduate degree, and one was for a professional conference). So I sponsored IR5 for her and now she lives here with me.

You basically proved the denials were the correct decision.. as the aim was for her to live with you not just visit.

    COs did a great job.

  4. To be honest from what you have posted it sounds very much like you want her to come on a B2 and stay forever so she can join her family. You said it yourself if she was under 18 she would have joined you. Can't have that many ties to her home country then can she.

This is exactly how the CO will see it.

Now it has been three weeks. No he didn’t tell me the reason.Just provided me with a 221(g) green slip. The slip says that if i have not been provided with an update within three weeks i can contact them. But when i inquire they told me to wait 180 days.I need to go to Jamaica soon as I have to commence my employment.I am thinking of withdrawing my passport and applying for UK visa.Unless this is not going to work

AP can take weeks..months.. even years. There's no knowing when it will be finished.

If you need to go this month you should look at alternative flights etc straight away.

I thought a B visa denial meant VWP citizens could no longer travel on ESTA?

    You thought wrong.

OP what exactly do you mean by your availability with ESTA is about to expire? Where are you now? When were you last in the US and for how long?

Seems like this could be a misuse of visa case already as it seeming more and more likely OP’s mother used her tourist visa to enter with the intent to immigrate.

Agreed. Wish there was a way to flag up people like the OP who are so selfish and think they are above the rules. His mum doesn't deserve to have a B2.

  8. Assuming that's a typo and you meant 2020?

    1. No, she renews when in her home country, not possible to do while in the US.

    2. She can apply to extend it, but without a valid reason she will be denied, her visa will be automatically cancelled and she will have a very hard time getting another one. "Wanting to stay for longer" is not a valid reason and attempting to extend her stay after staying for 6 months already is basically saying "I want to use a tourist visa to live in the US" which is not allowed.

    3. No adjustment possible, you can petition for her but that takes 12-18 months and she will need to return to her home country.

The simple answer to your simple question is she returns home before her 6 months are up. A tourist visa is for temporary visits. Don't be greedy.

    Unlockable, thanks for your response.

Fair enough, I wasn't privy to the invitation letter myth - sorry if that question has been asked hundreds of times before.

Let's say we forget about the invitation letter, and forget about putting my mother's details on the form.

If my wife fills out the DS-160 in the following way:

    • Destination address: My mom's home address
    • Who pays for trip = Other Person (Me)
    • Travel companion = Me
    • U.S. Contact = Me, with my U.S. address being the Texas domicile
    • Immediate relatives = only Me
    • Other relatives = None
    • Spouse section = Me, with all my information but with my current address in Vietnam, NOT my Texas address (this section allows her to enter a different address)

Would this work better? It wouldn't look suspicious to the CO in any way, would it?

It's not about looking suspicious, it's about telling the truth. If those are the truthful answers then they are the answers.

You are overthinking this way too much. Just answer the question which is asked. Simple.

Some of the videos are actually very good, I have watched the one produced by the US Embassy in Manila.  They provide some really good information.  One thing they mention is if a person is applying for a tourist visa and they have a US spouse or US significant other, then it gets harder to get approved.

Which is common sense..don't need a video to tell you the obvious.
