Hello my beloved family,
Hope you all are doing great and being safe.
Good news!!! Today my attorney received notice for I-485 interview on 19th Jan, 2021 at 7.00am
It's been such a long waiting time and finally it arrived without any update online, I have been keep checking my status but it didn't show any update.
So it's quite a bit of pleasant surprise to me, I am happy and going to get myself all prepared for it.
I have only one question that notice says "REQUEST FOR APPLICATION TO APPEAR FOR INITIAL INTERVIEW", anyone has any idea why it says "INITIAL INTERVIEW"? Why not "Final Interview or just on Interview? Thanks.
Congratulations hun! Share your timeline pls and location. Thanks!

Hi guys I'm not a frequent person here on this site I just browse through occasionally. But I had to leave my info here so persons will feel encouraged and know that their time of approval is coming. Just stay strong and don't just depend on your lawyers to push your case for you because you are just another case that they have even though they maybe trying their best to assist you. Reach out to your representatives because they'll assist you. Just google your nearest representatives their information will come up! Wishing everyone a speedy approval.
Field Office - Federal Plaza NY NY
No Interview
Feb 2018 - submitted i-360, i-485, i-765
Sept 2019 - i-360 approved.
July 2020 - Reached out to a NY Senator to assist me got back an email couple days after from her office saying there is an officer reviewing my file and they will make a decision in my case within 90 days which they didn't.
Dec 3, 2020 - RFE for i-693 medical, which I didn't get in the mail but by email from USCIS for me to submit it before March 2 2021 after I reached out to every congressman/senator in NY for assistance which they replied.
Dec 9, 2020 - i-693 medical submitted.
Dec 30, 2020 - Update on my online status i-485 card went into production. First update on case since submitted!
Dec 31, 2020 - I-485 approved
Jan 5, 2021 - Card mailed
Jan 7, 2021 - Card in Hand
Omg! What a great news! Thank you for sharing and Congratulations to you. You gave us so much hope. Hopefully, we all get the GC without the interview! God bless you!

Dear family!
Today I have got my green card! I cannot describe what I feel after several years of stress, uncertainty about tomorrow, and fear. I feel as I can breathe again and live a full life.
I want to say thank everyone who answered my questions and shared their information that was very useful. And thank this VAWA group, all this time I didn’t feel myself alone.
I want to share my experience, maybe it can help somebody.
My timeline:
06/11/2018 – I-360, I-485
02/24/2020 – received EAD-31 (by VAWA)
03/27/2020 – I-485 transferred to another office
11/27/2020 – My ex-attorney from Pennsylvania where we lived before got the invitation for the interview on 12/28/2020 only for my son (13 years old (although my new attorney changed my address 1,5 years ago when I moved to Georgia and got my C-9 card and C-31 through my new attorney).
12/28/2020 – AOS interview in Pennsylvania
I have never got a VAWA approval notice, any other letters from USCIS, any online updates, and didn’t get the invitation for the interview for myself. My son didn’t get an update online about his interview, so be careful when you move to the other place, be sure you can get your correspondence.
I heard that possible we may not have the interview in the state where we don’t live anymore but I knew also that we have to come to the interview otherwise they will deny our cases. So, I decided to go where and at least to be sure that they finally change our address and after we will be waiting for our interviews in Georgia where we live now, and to figure out where is my documents and my VAWA approval letter.
When we came to the interview with my son, I was so lucky because the officer said that she found my documents and we can both have the interview, and in spite hat are from the other state, decided to conduct our interview. We were without an attorney. Our interview was very smooth and easy. The officer was very kind and friendly. She asked for our medical forms (I-693), we did it two weeks before the interview. She asked my name, the names of my parents if I work and where, if I married, I said that I divorced and gave her my divorce decree, my new address, how many times were I married, and about 6-7 yes/no questions. Asked my son just a couple of questions about his name, the name of me, and what grade he is studying. In the end, the officer said that everything looking good and asked which address to send our green cards to. She said usually it takes 2-4 weeks to update the information, make decisions, and send the green cards. I asked her when my VAWA case was approved because I have never got approval notice and she said in February (when I got my C-31 card).
After the interview, my online status started to change (before this the last update was on 03/22/2020 that I-485 transferred to another office, no update about the interview) :
12/28/2020 - Your interview was completed , and your case must be reviewed
12/29/2020 – We ordered your new card
30/12/2020 – We approved your Form I-485
31/12/2020 – We mailed your new card your Form I-485 (great present for New Year)
01/06/2021 – The green card in my hands
I wish good luck to everybody and a faster approval solution in your cases!
Congratulations! I am so happy for you! 2018 is moving along and I couldn’t be more excited!

Hey, I have a question. If a person receives I-693 deficiency notice which is medical. Does it mean I 485 is in the local office and ready for the interview? I just want to know this notice also tells us that our file is our local office??
Hey, I’ve received my I-693 last year and my lawyer inquired about my I-485 too and this was response. I didn’t know they have it already in the local
office. No updates in any forms whatsoever.

Okay I will have to contact my congressman because I did not receive the RFE for medical yet. I will keep you posted on any update I get and I hope that you receive the green card without interview this wait is frustrating.
Sure is, it’s ridiculous! Idk why they can’t hire more agents to make this process faster

Hey hun, mine was approved July 2020 also did you receive RFE for medical yet?
Hey there hun! Nice! At least we can keep each other posted about the progress of our cases. I’ve received I-693 deficiency notice which is the medical. It was clearly specified that if I get the mail for interview, I’ll take it with me. If I get thr gc by mail without interview then USCIS will send RFE and further instructions. Also, it’s stated to not send in the mail now because it might cause a delay in my case. 🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️

I am not sure about how to reach senator etc but I feel like it is too early for me anyways since I just got approved right?
I don’t think so. The case itself is two yrs plus at least in mine so that’s why I did it.

I sure will! When did your i360 got approved? Is getting I-693 deficeny notice for medical means my i485 case already in local office? Thanks
My I-360 was approved on July and I’ve asked my lawyer to follow up. He inquired and got an email back that my case was in the local office in Queens since April 2020 🤷🏽♀️. So, IMO yes it’s in the local office now.
Two days ago, my lawyer sent a mail to inquire (USCIS-Queens) and I sent an email to Sen. Schumer’s office. Whatever it takes to speed it up. I’m doing whatever I can right now. It doesn’t hurt anyways.- LongFlight and Restez Forts

Hi. I am april 2019 filler any my i360 apprived beginning of october. I have received this notice beginning of november. So since this notice related to my i485. Does it mean it is already in the local office? Also I am Brooklyn filler and as I understand wait time is so long. Receiving notice in 1 month isn't a good thing? Can you guys clarify? How long more do you guys think I will be waiting for interview minimum? Thankss
Hi, I’m also from NYC. I got the same letter on July but i was told to wait until my interview to bring my medical docu. Keep us posted with your journey

Well since you've already been told your case has progressed to the local office, it's best to just wait it out..it's obviously in line for an interview. You made it this far..a few weeks or months wouldn't hurt. And oh..happy VAWA anniversary.😊⭐✨⭐🇺🇸
Thanks, it’s just really difficult holding up
-
Hi everyone, I hope you’re all safe. Sept marked my 2 yr VAWA anniversary. My lawyer inquired via email and was told my case was in local NY office already on April 2020 and the approval letter came July 2020. It is taking forever! The other filers here were obv lucky having their cases moved faster than mine. What do I do? I have coming days off in December but I was told to call for an infopass schedule before two weeks of my days off bec apparently USCIS does the schedule for infopass (?). I am a nurse and I can’t just ask for a day off anytime given we’re short staffed! It’s upsetting and anxiety provoking given I’ve been waiting this long. Thoughts???

Nope it didn’t update yet. Only I360. I guess it’ll update once you’re up for interview. I guess, not sure

Where have you been?😏😂 someone here..I believe @Iranlucky and few others were approved without interview but don't get excited yet...the adjudicating officer uses their discretion especially in these times to decide who waits to come in for interview and who gets waived!💁😊 there's nothing formal put out to that effect like I mentioned!
Hahaha haven’t been reading for a while due to busy work schedule. Hopefully, I’ll be one of those here who gets approved without interview hehe
