I haven’t run the numbers (but you can do so if you are bored) but I think the highest number of case approvals occur within the first ten working days.  We didn’t get approved on the same day like others did from the same field office (but as I recall from reading between the lines, our IO didn’t approve that day any of the VJ couples he interviewed).

Thanks @Mike E yeh just bored and not sure how long wait will go :)

thanks for sharing your experience hopefully we will hear back a positive response soon ✌️

    Still waiting…

can’t believe the interview was in February and we are already in end of July..

Never thought this would happen to us since we know we should be one of those ”easy couples” without any crazy backgrounds or age differences.

We kinda gave up on waiting. It will happen when it happens.

Having a greencard would not change our life. We are able to work and live our lives. Only thing we can’t do is leave the country but that is okay.

So greencard or no, we are living happily together:)

Hello @blajje we almost have done our interview few days ago and was separated after few min of joint interview, IO was male and he did interview of applicant first and then the American. and interview was really long each of us 20 min and lott of questions, it was back to back so many questions that my husband mixed answer for two questions, rest all mostly our answer match, now status is showing case under review. we came through K1 as well, its very strange that K1 petitioners already been through a lot checks and interview and gain this wait after interview. OMG its just very annoying.  good luck to all of us.

Yes you can. The only potential issue is if your GC gets issued before uscis updates your new address, you won't get your GC for a good time. USCIS is very slow in updating the address.

Thanks@arken both homes are my husbands, but we just moving to the second new home, so we will have access to mail in both homes, we have mentioned about the new home in our interview too that he owns two homes. but moving was not planned that time.

  4. I got my SSN exactly after a month later of my EAD, so just wait, incase you called to SS office they will ask you when you received your EAD, and then they gonna tell you that it takes 4 weeks for SS office to receive data from EAD office to process the SSN. i am sure you will receive it very soon. I been through the same process in March i got EAD and first week of April got my SSN i applied through i765 as well.

I agree with @Mike E. Those seem to be minor issues. The "we will let you know" comment, is, as @JacobP said, fairly common. I think (and hope) that you will be fine. Please let us know.

Thank you very much @Stevephoto I will certainly keep posted about the situation, hopefully the journey I and my husband  started 3 years ago by applying for K1 petition will come to a happy end soon and we can live happily live together.

What were the 3 questions and what were the 6 answers?

    Hello @Mike E

2 questions we got some difference answers. one was for the IO asked what you guys did yesterday we told the routine and i told the lunch what we had it was IN N OUT Burger he asked the same to my husband and he told the same day routine which i told but the lunch thing he mixed up what we did on Saturday which was Sushi  instead of telling what we ate on Saturday instead of Sunday. and the second mismatch answer was for the IO asked what car my husband drive, we both answer right and for the interview day my husband was driving his brother car, so IO asked why he is driving his bro car I was not sure actually why he exchanged car with his bro so i said i think we need to move one chair to our work (which was discussed to do few days ago) but my husband responded that he took his bro car because we need to bring some soil bags for the garden grass, these two answers were mismatch, rest we did all same, and they asked so many questions.

I hope they wont decide our 5 years relationship on these two questions and will rest of information nd evidences we have provided. from start of K1 case till now.

finger crossed, keep us remember in your prayers.

Being interviewed separately is unusual, being asked for evidence you live together and other evidence is standard, and having your case not approved immediately is something that happens to plenty of people. It's hard to tell why the IO made those decisions, but it's behind you guys, there's no point in worrying about it for now. With any luck they'll approve your green card any day now now (could take several weeks though, you know how the USCIS likes to drag things on). The worst case scenario is they schedule a second interview, it's rare they deny applications outright after 1 interview, but chances are 1 interview is enough for approval.

many thanks @JacobP for your response, yeh we cant do anything now expect waiting for good things to happen. we been through a lot wait already and hopefully its gonna be a happy ending.

your words about no denial on first interview is very encouraging, our marriage is legitimate and I believe God will help us on it. our answers 90% were matching but on 2 questions we got some difference answers. one was for the IO asked what you guys did yesterday we told the routine and i told the lunch what we had it was IN N OUT Burger he asked the same to my husband and he told the same day routine which i told but the lunch thing he mixed up what we did on Saturday which was Sushi  instead of telling what we ate on Saturday instead of Sunday. and the second mismatch answer was for the IO asked what car my husband drive, we both answer right and for the interview day my husband was driving his brother car, so IO asked why he is driving his bro car I was not sure actually why he exchanged car with his bro so i said i think we need to move one chair to our work (which was discussed to do few days ago) but my husband responded that he took his bro car because we need to bring some soil bags for the garden grass, these two answers were mismatch, rest we did all same, and they asked so many questions.

  8. Hello all,

today we have done our K1 visa adjustment of status interview. after the basic verification process IO separated us, and asked a lot questions about our married life etc, we answered quite well expect only 2/3 answers bit nonmatching. after all we are human and being nervures it could happen.

at start of interview the IO asked us for documents which can verify our living together, we gave our joint bank statement, our gym contracts, Costco membership etc etc he kept that bundle of documents and did not return to us, and also asked us to give him 10 photos from our album  to give him and at the end of the interview he said he needs to review our case and you will receive a decision by mail.

Does anyone been though same situation or any one can help us that is this normal?

Any respond to this topic will be highly appreciate.

You might never get it. It's really random the timeline for SSN requested by USCIS after EAD approval. I've seen people receiving before the EAD card was delivered, I've seen people waiting for 6 week, and some never received anything and had to apply in person.

If you need asap, try to schedule an appointment.

@Ayrton thank yes I will call them in coming week to check for an appointment if they are open.

  10. Hello @EmilyTH I am also similar boat as you are.

I have applied for AOS for K1 visa in September 2020 and i have received my EAD in March 2021 (two weeks ago) but no SS card yet, i have called the SS office today and they said they have not received my data from USCIS yet, they said it takes almost two months for USCIS to send data to SS office, that's long wait -  :(

Now I am planning to take an appointment in the SS office if they are open for it and apply personally instead of waiting for USCIS to send the data. I hope you will received you EAD soon as well so you can apply for SS and start your life here. finger crossed for all of us.

  11. Hello everyone,

I got my EAD on 03/13/2021 and today its 03/26/2021 but i still have not received my SS card, while filling the AOS application I have ticked for the SSN option.

Does anyone knows recently how long it takes to receive SS card??

Many thanks in advance for your help.

March 21st? Do you mean February? Unless you're a time traveler, of course. You could've apply for the SSN on the I-765, but apparently they're not always good about following up on it. You wouldn't receive the SSN from the same envelope as the EAD since it's a different agency. You can try calling the SSA and see if there's anything pending. If it didn't go through, you can try getting an in-person appointment to apply for an SSN at a local SSA office if you've never had one before, my wife had luck getting an appointment on her K1 a few months ago. Otherwise you'd have to mail your EAD in.

@JacobPhahaha no i mean to say March 2021. Thank you very much for your reply. i have checked on USCIS website they mentioned need to wait 1 -2 weeks for the SSN after the EAD card issued and I am just on 5 days week now. so hopefully something will come in a week or so.

  13. hello @YMK hey what your app USCIS app status says??? mine is still saying ready to schedule for interview and its been 78 days now.

one more question please, did you received your EAD and SSN? how they came together or separately??

i am sorry i don't have answer to your question but i am in similar situation as you so i thought you might will help with this info???

  14. Hello everyone, we have filed our AOS application in September 2020 and in March 21 we have received the EAD card but have not received yet any SSN.

I believe the new I-485 application form has a section which we have filled as well for SSN. So i believe we don't have to do anything now instead of just waiting??

or we need to apply for SSN separately??? anyone can help on it please???

  15. Hey mate i was in same stress as yours when I arrived here in US on my K1 visa in June which was the peak of the Corona and LA county was not issuing the licenses. and Orange county gave us the date very late close to my 90 days period.

I googled to get help and i found a marriage Chapel who are helping to get marriage licenses and same time getting married too, i contact them and we got our marriage license and got married same day the whole process took 30 min, no we have already filed the adjustment of status application. i would highly recommend you to contact them they will help you, you can find them on google by searching "Same Day Wedding Chapel" they would must help you out and for all process including license and wedding etc they take $350.

the original license takes 2 months to reach but they will gave you an official paper which is for your wedding registration that you can you fro the adjustment of status.

any questions. HMU .... good luck mate.

Kern County is relatively quick. Mailed the form Tuesday and we had it in hand yesterday. They're quite helpful so you could call and ask if non residents can get one. I'm pretty sure you just have to be a resident of California

Hi @RPete thanks very much for your help, we took help from a marriage chapel and we got married two days ago in LA county they did everything for us. :)

  17. 2 minutes ago, DaveAndAnastasia said:

Don't know if anyone has recently; historically, marrying in LA county on a K-1 has been advised against because they're notoriously slow at providing your marriage certificate (which you need to file AOS).

However, since you probably can't use the normal-times workaround for this (going to a neighboring county -- usually Orange, because they have the lowest fees and some nice civil wedding venues -- doesn't work because I think most counties are doing civil weddings for residents only, and Nevada has a higher positive test rate than California over the last 7 days, so taking a road trip to Vegas might not be advisable) I guess you'll just have to see.

Thanks @DaveAndAnastasia we have submitted online applications in both LA and Orange County, LA has available appointment by end of August while orange has given us the 3 August, we will see how it goes with Orange if they still close we will prefer the Nevada. because I am worried for my 90 days time period. Most important is to get married within 90 day.
