  1. My wife got the notification from USCIS that her I-751 was rec'd on12/16/21.  We then received the green card extension and I-757 NOA letter on 12/23/2021 (all good).  We are now waiting for the next stage, but she wants to visit her home in Philippines next month.  If we go, we are afraid of missing a possible biometrics or interview appointment.  Does anyone have a clue as to a timeline for getting a notice from USCIS setting an appointment for biometrics/interview?  Estimated wait time for the ROC to complete is 7 to 22 months out.

  2. Update:  We got our notice of action (I-797) today! So, I guess all our inital filing was ok.  The following is the timeline of the I-751 filing:

Dec. 13 - mailed the I-751 packet (Original Submission) by USPS priority with tracking

Dec. 15 - USPS tracking says packet delivered

Dec. 16 - My wife received text from USCIS that the I-751 was received.  WAC receipt number (Caifornia Service Center) included in the message

Dec.  21 - $680 check cleared at my bank.

Dec.  23 - NOA received in the mail. It included the 24 month extension for residency while they process the petition

Now the long wait...I went to the USCIS site, to get the estimated processing time for I-751. It states, for California Service Center, the time frame is 7 - 22 months!

Like the other commenter responded, I believe this is only required if you have additional pages you need to add to the actual I-751 form itself - just in case you need more space to explain specific answers to the questions.

In regards to the supporting evidence you’re including (I.e. joint bank statements, insurance, joint car title, etc.), I personally did NOT add my A# to those, and believe it is unnecessary.

Thanks to you both....I was a little confused because this question arose in past years postings (did a search on the topic here). Many people did attach the A# and name to every page of every document, but several others did not.  However, it appears you are both correct and I won't need to do that.

  4. Hello,

I'm putting together my wife's ROC (original submission), and Form Filing Tips from USCIS state to put the A# and name on each attachment.

    Specifically, it reads:

"If you have any attachments, make sure each attached page has your name and A-Number "

Does that mean every page of each supporting document need that? Interesting it refers to supporting information thoughout the tips as 'documents'  but the above states 'attachments' as if it's something other than documents.

I have printed the petitioner's name and A# on small, return address labels to apply to each page if it is really required.

  5. Today I received the online notice that my wife's I-485 interview was cancelled, yet we did not even have an interview date??  She is here  on a K-1 visa and she had Biometrics done November 22. A week or 2 after her case status had been updated stating they had received the biometrics.  Since then no further updates or mail notices came until now showing the Interview being cancelled.  I immediately called USCIS contact center and was told that this can happen if the field office (which conducts the interviews) has not received the necessary I-485 documents and a certain amount of time has passed, creating an automated 'cancellation' on the case.  I was told to wait another month to see if the interview gets scheduled and the case status gets correctly updated.

    Anyone else experience this?

  6. I sent my AOS to Chicago USCIS on Oct. 9 and USPS tracking showed it delivered on Oct. 15.  My check wasn't cashed until November 1 and I just received the NOA (I-757C) in the mail today, November 5. So it seems the wait time varies by USCIS location...around 3 weeks from date the packet was received by Chicago to NOA received in the mail, in my case.

  7. I went with my gf to the SSN office here in the US today. My filipina finacee was admitted to US last month (August 15) on a K-1 visa.  We brought a print of the I-94 and the application for the Social Security Number, checking the 'legal alien allowed to work' checkbox.  We are not looking for and did not apply for the EAD.  When submitting the forms plus showing her passport and K-I visa, the SSN rep went to look up the alien registration number, which is written on the passport page next to the K-1 visa.

Rather than saying everything was good, she told us she was unable to locate the alien registration number online to verify her entry status.  Huhhh?? She could easily look up everything online.  Anyway, she said she needs to have her status verified by federal, state, local agencies in the US who issued our documents.  According to the form letter she gave us, this will take up to 4 weeks and if approved. another 2 weeks to receive her card.

Has anyone experienced this?  Our whole visa application experience was quite easy as everything from the beginning approved on first attempts.

  8. A little confused on something.  for K1 visa fiancees attending the seminar at Clark.  Do they need to bring a 2x2 photo for the certificate?  The CFO site doesn't list it as a requirement to bring and I have seen conflicting responses here on the site (from years ago).  What's the latest?  What god is the certificate anyway? All she needs is the sticker on her visa.  She goes to the seminar next week.

  9. I get many mixed search results about document requirements for the CFO class after the visa interview.

    1) Does my finacee need original birth certificate, cenomar, NBI clearance documents or just copies?  Originals are required at the visa interview at the US embassy, and I assume they keep the originals. So do we need her to get 2 originals of each document?

    2) Also, for the Medical exam at SLEC, does the passport copy have to be in color or can it be Black and white?

I only ask this because of the mixed responses I have gotten and the government sites don't give explicit requirements.

Wow, thats crazy fast. Looks like things at NVC are finally picking up because you were able to go from NOA2 to left NVC in a couple weeks. I hope mine goes that fast if I ever get NOA2. You gave me a lot of hope 😁

Big congratulations. Not long and this whole process will just be memories.

Awesome news today! I checked the CEAC this morning and my Case Status is now changed to ‘Ready’! Even though We haven't received the letter or packet, I’ll start everything next week when I’m in the Philippines. The letter example on this site explains all the steps we need to follow.

Everyhting is really moving fast now! This is a great site. It’s helped me so much as to what to expect and how to proceed.

    Thanks to all the contributors!

  11. Hooray! I called NVA early this week and got my MNL Case number,  She also gave me an Invoice ID number (is that number important?).  Anyway, its in transit to the US Embassy in Manila, which I confirmed on the CEAC Status check site.  As I am retired I spend a lot of time in the Philippines with my fiancée and I'll be headed there again next week, staying a couple months.  I figure we'll be able to complete more steps then.... I'll bring my completed I-134 Affidavit of Support, complete and submit the DS-160 there, print off the receipt, pay visa fee at BPI, have her get all the paperwork and documents (birth certificate, police clearance, etc), then get her medical clearance and interview scheduled.  Does that sound about right?  I have read a lot about people not getting the embassy letter, or the fiancée getting the P3 package in the mail.  Do I have to wait for either before scheduling any of the aforementioned tasks? Or can I go ahead,  assuming that my paperwork would be at the embassy?

You are a K-1 thus do not process financial support through NVC and they are the only ones asking for transcripts, and the reason they want transcripts is because of their new document upload system on CEAC, transcripts are small.

You will be fine with a copy of your 1040 tax return, embassy has no issue with a copy of the 1040.

To be safe, I'm also planning to bring copies of my W-2s and 1099s from the past 3 years, for the interview.

  13. Hello all,

I just found this site when googling for some answers regarding my K-1 visa.  Briefly to state where I have gotten:

Aug 4 - I live in California and mailed my I-129f packet to the USCIS in Dallas as directed.

    Aug 14 - I received my Receipt (NOA1)

January 19 (today) - I received the hard copy, fancy paper I-797 Approval Notice (NOA2?). It says my petition has been approved and forwarded to the listed consulate. This notice was mailed from Dept. of Homeland Security in California, so my petition was there.

My question is what’s next? Do I have my fiancé in Philippines fill out the DS-160 or wait for further instructions from them? The validity date of the Approval Notice is 1/14/2019 to 5/13/2019.
