I will advice you to report this issue to the NVC on written and call them in addition and state all the problems you are in counter since from the date until now . that will help you resolve you problem I thinks !!!

But I thinks you have to check it through ustravel@gov if only you registered on that network you will be able to know where your passport is !!!

Yes it will be there at the NVC  until the US Embassy in your country noticefy the availability of a date of appointment before your case will be send to the embassy for your interview.

Yes let your wife call back again at NVC and asked to be connected with the supervisor over there , the supervisor will be in a good position to explain your problems to her because that supervisor is in change for everything there.
