Totally agree. The VJ estimations keep changing weekly, processing times on USCIS website keep changing from 2.5 months to 7.5 months within a couple of months so it’s really hard to rely on anything, it’s better not to even look at them. 
 
Myself and my husband are lucky that we are doing fine financially (not great, but not struggling)  but I honestly wonder how do they expect normal couples/families to cope up to 7.5 months with one spouse’s income? We talked about it last night at home and came to the conclusion that these long processing times are probably, at least partially, intentional to put couples into test whether they’ll make it or not, and also to deter people from applying. 
 
Regardless of what it is, 7.5 months is ridiculous. I know for sure that my interview won’t be until March/April earliest, so EAD and AP is necessary. 

The EAD wait times are so ridiculous. The VJ estimated approval date just keeps getting later and later. A few months ago, the estimate for us was early November. Now it says December 9th. I know that we could literally get approved tomorrow, but my fear is that we'll end up on the long end of the wait instead. 
 
I don't mean to be negative, but it's hard to see approvals for both EAD and green cards all over the place (especially from timelines that are nearly identical otherwise). I understand the wide variance in green card approvals, but I wonder why EAD approvals are so inconsistent when they are processed through the same center. 

Try not to use those wait times as a guide! My EAD/AP card is being delivered today. Yours is coming soon too . I stopped checking after the first 2 months because it is so stressful looking at those wait times fluctuate.

Hi everyone! I just found this thread, and I'm a June 2019 AOS filer as well.  I had my biometrics appointment in July, but I'm still waiting for my EAD (and my I-485 status is "Case is Ready to Be Scheduled for An Interview"). Has anyone from Seattle received their EAD? Thanks!

We had our AOS interview in OKC today, we were approved! I've posted details on our timeline of questions asked and documents we gave them. All in all, it was the easiest part of this whole long journey.

I filed on May 31st and received the EAD card on Oct 4th (without expedite). I am pretty sure all June filers will be starting to receive theirs soon (if they haven’t been scheduled for the interview or received the gc already). My local office is Washington DC which is quite slow and I believe the EAD is processed by the national benefits center. The national benefits center could be processing the EAD for the slower local offices first because the other local offices would be already scheduling interviews for GC and those applicants would not require an EAD if they are getting their gc faster. I don’t know how the national Center prioritizes the application , but I am just assuming it could be that way ....or knowing them it could be totally random 🙄

My previous status was "interview ready to be scheduled" in September and it changed to "interview scheduled" about a week and a half ago! 

WOOHOO! The wait is finally over!! Congrats!!!!!  

So I crossed the border with my fiancée yesterday, and it was a breeze! Took only about 20 mins, and it was basically all just waiting. We crossed at the Detroit border and will be flying to Seattle in about two hours! ☺️ It was honestly the fastest/easiest part of the whole process, and all the border guards were super nice. We just handed them the packet, they went through it and put another small document in my passport to say when the K1 expires, and that was it! So great! It was a crazy nine-month process, and it all worked out so perfectly!

Update: I HAVE MY VISAS!!! 


I woke up this morning to a notification from Canada Post saying that there was an issue with my address and they're working on sorting it out, and my package won't be delivered until the 13th! 
So I immediately called and they told me they're working on it and it could take up to the 16th to get my package delivered! 
OH HECK NO! 
So I emailed the executive support person at Canada Post (the highest up on the chain of command) who had done the investigation the first time, and she immediately called the Mail Depot in my town and made them go and locate my package and bring it to the front. The depot called me and said they have the package and asked if I would like to go and pick it up, so I said I would be there asap. 
While I was there, the consulate had emailed me because they noticed the an issue with the tracking as well. 
I picked up and signed for the package, and opened it right there in the post office to make sure everything was complete. Not 10 minutes after I signed for it, I received an email from both the consulate AND Canada Post's Executive support asking me to confirm that I received it because they saw it was picked up. I confirmed and thanked them both for tracking my package the entire time along with me and had such fast responses. 

I AM SO FREAKING HAPPY AND RELIEVED!!

YAY! That’s so awesome!! ☺️ I’m so glad to hear this positive news! And it’s great that that lady is totally on your side and helping you with your case. It sounds like you’re so close now!! I hope you do get your new visas on the 4th (or even sooner!)!

So I have another update to post:

Yesterday I sent another email to the consulate asking for an update (since they never responded to me since the accidental reply mishap), and the USC sent an email to his Senator requesting an inquiry. 

Today I personally received a phone call from the person at the Visa Unit who is handling my case. 
She said that she wanted to call me to tell me she is sending me an email and  she wanted me to know so I look for it right away. They have received my new passports and are going to do everything possible to get my my visas reissued promptly. But unfortunately everything that went along in the sealed package with my missing passports, are also missing (obviously), and that I need to send them ALL my original documents + photocopies of everything I presented at the interview (Birth Certificates, Divorce Certificate, Divorce Decree, Custody orders for the kids, new passport photos for the visas, another copy of the criminal record check, etc) and they are contacting the medical examiner's office themselves to get another copy of our medical exams directly. 
Why the heck wouldn't they ask me to send all that stuff when they asked me to send the new passports?? smh. 

Anyways, she assured me that my file wasn't leaving her desk, and she instructed me to get all those things into the mail ASAP and told me what to write on the envelope so that it doesn't sit in the mail room. 
She said that if I get it into the mail today, it would reach the Consulate on Tuesday. But because Monday is a holiday for them, she won't receive it until Wednesday. She said she is expediting everything so I will hopefully receive my new visas for the 4th of June. 

I sent everything off today. Fingers crossed there's no more messing around and I indeed get my stuff back as quickly as they say.

Hey guys, STILL waiting... 
From my last message, the consulate responded to me saying that all mail goes to an offsite facility and can take up to 10 business days to actually reach the visa unit. 😤
So when the 10th business day hit (Thursday), I emailed back asking for an update. 
Then yesterday morning, they mistakenly replied to my email (rather than forwarding it) with a message to their supervisor asking what they should tell me!! Then they immediately sent me another email requesting to recall the previous one! (Too late, I saw it. And I don't think you can un-send an email anyways). But they never ended up answering my email or giving me any information!!! Now it's a long weekend and I'm trying so hard not to completely lose my 💩.

Really? I’m surprised you haven’t heard back yet.  I still don’t get what the hold up is. You should be their #1priority! Fingers crossed you hear back this week!!

On Wednesday the Consulate emailed me, asking for me to sign and return the compensation contract form that I have been holding off on. I told them I would get it to them as soon as possible and asked whether or not the children and myself need to return to Montreal.  (Because if we do, the compensation amount is not nearly enough to cover that). 

This morning they emailed me back saying only that they will tell me what to do once I receive my new passports. 🙄 
I replied back telling them that I DO have my new passports in hand and told them the new passport numbers. (I picked them up from the Passport Canada office this morning). 

No response back from the Consulate, and judging by the time now, I don't think I will get a response until tomorrow at the soonest. 
I was hoping to get my new passports sent off to them (or book plane tickets) today... 

The waiting still continues..

Had my interview this morning and i passed 😍😍😍 it’s just a quick interview. we with my fiance arrived at the consulate around 6:45am and i was scheduled at 7:30am. there is already a line up outside the consulate and they started to accommodate us around 7:30am good thing not too cold outside😂

I emailed the Consulate this morning and asked if there are any updates (since it's now been a week since my last message from them). They replied back within 3 minutes with this message:

This is the email I sent to the Consulate yesterday, after hearing from Canada Post: 
 
"I have just received an update from Canada Post. 
They are still unable to locate my shipment, and are writing a letter confirming the shipment as lost. I will forward it as soon as I receive it. 
In the meantime, I was told to contact Passport Canada to report our passports as lost, and work on getting new passports. 
What are the next steps where the visas are involved?"

This is the response I received back from the Consulate: 
(I assume it means business days. So 10 business days from the time I received their first email saying they are investigating, would bring me to Thursday.)
 

I was successfully imported on Sunday. I’ll echo sentiments that it was the easiest part of the process (needing to activate my K1 actually put me in a shorter customs line at Pearson haha). Answered a couple questions (mainly relating to my cat) for the first border agent before being taken to secondary. No wait, a couple more questions (where we met, what I do for work, confirming I know the visa is single entry) and I was on my way.
