Hi all,
Can anyone going through the Cairo, Egypt, embassy answer this: is a covid test needed for the medical exam?
Thank you.

Hi Laurasmak,
Do you know if the American embassy in Cairo will accept an online marriage? I don't know much about it but am wondering if other Cairo filers have gotten the CR 1 visa that way, do you know?

You posted the exact same question twice. I have asked the mods to merge your posts into one threads. You're welcome.
I did not post the same exact thing. And since you like pointing out what you think is a mistake, why don’t you check an English grammar book and correct your own?

Why are you posting the same thing multiple times?
I did not post the same thing multiple times. I’m simply asking a question. I am looking for an answer, and not a rude comment.

Hello all,
Yesterday someone asked on the Cairo embassy’s Facebook page if non immigrant visa interviews for November were being cancelled. Does anyone know about any non-immigrant interviews being scheduled for November?

Hello all,
Yesterday someone asked on the Cairo embassy’s Facebook page if non immigrant visa interviews for November were being cancelled. Does anyone know about any K-1 interviews being scheduled for November? Maybe just wishful thinking on my part.

Hi there!
I’ve been trying to reach someone at the US Embassy in Cairo and it seems no matter what time I call, the phone just keeps ringing. If anyone has insights or tips about reaching them, I’d greatly appreciate the information!
I’m calling them directly from the number listed on their website and Facebook page 202-2797-3300.
I’m currently in the US, but will be traveling to Egypt and have questions regarding notary services.
Thanks in advance for anyone who may have dealt with them before and could offer some tips!
You might have better luck if you email them. I've never been able to get through to anyone there by a phone call.

My fiancé suggested we get married at the Cairo embassy (when open) and file for the CR-1 instead of waiting for our K-1. He had an interview scheduled for Aug. 18, which was cancelled since the embassy is still closed. But, if we do that, it would mean starting all over again, right? We would have to go through the whole process again, For the spouse visa, so it could take another 8 months or more? I’m thinking we should just wait for the embassy to open, which would be faster than doing the CR-1. Any opinions? Thanks in advance.

For what it’s worth: I just read on Facebook, a post from the embassy in Cairo. Someone asked them when will the embassy open again for visas, etc. Their answer was: “All consular services have been suspended worldwide and we do not know when Washington will allow us to resume. That includes all visa interviews. When we are able to resume services, we will announce that on our website and social media.“

Ya this is not acceptable and very frustrating.
Hello,
Just wanted to share that since my fiance’s K1 visa interview was cancelled (it was to be on Aug. 18), I emailed the Cairo embassy to ask about rescheduling it, and they responded that I should keep monitoring the online system to reschedule it when they are open for scheduling, which might be the end of September. I know that’s nothing new for any of us waiting; I just wanted to report what they said. And can anyone tell me where to find the online system? I’ve switched computers and I don’t remember the website for that. Thanks in advance!

So I’m assuming we will have to reschedule our own appointments? The embassy should reschedule them for us; how can we know when to schedule an appointment for when we don’t know when the embassy will be open again? What are your thoughts, those of you who are dealing with the American embassy in Cairo?

I don't know. It's kind of far out.....We were trying to schedule his medical appointment for the (then scheduled) July 1st appointment. We had hopes the Embassy would be open by then. The doctor kept insisting they needed a letter from the Embassy regarding interview. For K1, this wasn't required before. The hospital contacted the Embassy, then the Embassy cancelled our appointment, BUT insisted that all interviews were cancelled due to being closed. I just wish there were some concrete answers.
I don’t remember anything about a letter being needed for the medical exam, but there isn’t a lot of communication about this whole process, in terms of detailed steps. I’ve been finding out things as I go, sometimes by accident. When the embassy will be opening and working again no doubt will depend on the COVID-19 situation in Egypt and what phase of reopening the country is in, etc. My fiancé is in Luxor, which still has a curfew. I appreciate any information we all can share about what is going on; this is very difficult. Please keep posting any updates and I will do the same. Good luck to everyone!

That canceled my schedule appointment 3 weeks in advance. The thing that really sucked is we just paid all the money for the medical exam the day before. If we had know we would have waited since finances are tight. But just keep it and wait to hear from them.
Did they notify you that your appointment was cancelled?

My point is this: We were scheduling an interview literally as the Embassy was closing dates off the calendar until July 1. So, we scheduled the appointment for July 1. I look at the calendar every day about rescheduling, and now they are scheduling for August, September, etc. Our appointment for July 1 is still good. I wouldn't wait to see what happens - schedule while you can! Otherwise the wait will be substantially longer.
Where do you see the calendar for rescheduling?

Have YOU tried to schedule an interview? I have and did, yes.....
Thanks for your response. We have not yet scheduled the interview. We already had to cancel it once, so we are waiting for a bit to see what the situation in Egypt will be at the end of this month.

Hello, just checking in with everyone to get an update: is the embassy closed and is anyone trying to schedule an interview? Thank you.

Hello VJers,
I have evidence of my 2nd trip to be with my fiance and I'm not sure when to send it--------should I have my fiance send it to the embassy along with the Affidavit of Support and other documents he will send to the embassy before his interview? Or should he take this additional evidence with him when he goes for the interview? Just want to know, any suggestions/opinions?
Thanks! Virgie6810

Normally I would have a P3 letter from your country but yours I do not have. Others have shared with me their P3's which I used to pass on those who come behind you just like I have tried here with you. If you do get a copy, could you share it with me. Just PM me here on VJ with a scanned copy. Thanks.
Thanks for the information; I have looked at those but I'll scan through again. Yes, if I get a copy of the P3 letter, I will send you a scan. My fiance emailed the embassy yesterday and he heard back from them already, so we are hopeful that we will have the info we need soon!

Most likely the DS160 number
Hi payxibka ,
From what I can figure out, it's on a letter that the embassy sends to the applicant, in what used to be called Packet 3........which my fiance never received. I've emailed the embassy, trying to find out this number. Is there still a Packet 3? with a cover letter and instructions for the applicant?
Thanks -- Virgie6810

Hello all,
My fiance and I are trying to pay the visa fee online after completing the DS-160. The website asked for our invoice identification number. What is this number and where do we get it? Is it on the NOA2? Any help is appreciated.
