NikkiFromCanada reacted to Ontarkie in A question for who those who got married in the courthouse in AZ after K1 [edited title]
~~It is against the TOS to tell members not to post. You agreed to these terms when creating your account. As members have suggested you need to call the clerk that you will be dealing with. Yes every state is different, and every office within that State is different also. So stoping someone on the street where you live 'may' will result in the answer you need. So would calling the right department at the county clerks office. This thread can remain open as long as the TOS is not violated again.~~

Never book your interview without a P4. Montreal will cancel it.
You need your MTL case number from the NVC not your USCIS case number
National ID number is your passport number.
If your interview has been booked without paying your Visa application fee of $265 you have messed up somewhere.

Hey guys! Long time creeper here. This site has helped so much, just settling my nerves alone so I figure it’s my duty to pass on my experience to people going through the same process! Just a little background info: My fiancé and I filed for the k-1 visa April 10, 2017. He is the petitioner from the USA and I am from Canada.
I just had my interview today in Montreal and I was APPROVED! I’m so happy to be almost done! It was very anti-climatic compared to the paper work and getting everything accumulated over the past couple months.
Medical Exam Review:
My appointment was for Nov. 30/2017 at 2pm. I arrived around 1:30pm, it’s a very tall light rosey-pink champagne looking building. If you’re entering from the Main Street the elevators you need are on the left side which are floors 19-30. Floor 22 is the clinic and it’s listed under “horizon” in the elevator. It must have been a very busy day for them, there was no where to sit, barely anywhere to stand. I was there for about 4.5 hours total. When I arrived they asked for the confirmation letter of my interview (basically proof that you need this specific medical exam), my passport, a photocopy of my drivers license, 5 color USA style passport photos and vaccine history. They require you to fill out a quick little questionaire about you (your current address/intended address in the USA, MTL case #) and your medical history. There is an x-ray, blood test, urine test and visual test (similar to eye doctors, just covering one eye at a time and reading letters), and they give you all required vaccines if you don’t have what is needed (for an extra charge starting at $55 I believe). The psychical type part was a breeze, take off everything but underwear, typical eye/ear/throat and BP. And he tested for reflexes, and a quick breast/abdomen/lung exam. After this we went through the same questionaire as in the waiting room but with more doctor official info. Then it was done.
My results were there 3 business days later after 2pm. They say they will call you, I didn’t recieve a call, but an email around 3:15pm and they close at 4pm.
K-1 Visa fiancé Consulate Interview Review:
Side note: I had my fiancé with me, he just had to show his passport to come in and he was not able to attend the interview with me.
My interview was at 7:30am. We arrived at around 6:50am. There is a Starbucks and a Tim Hortons near by if you need something to eat or a morning coffee. There was about 10 people lined up with the same interview time as me, a couple for 8am who were told to get to the back of the line. They DO tell you to line up against the wall. (Along the right side on the same street as Starbucks.) They let 4 people into the first part of the building a time.
You must have your appointment letter and passport out at this time, same with your partner if they are with you. This is where you recieve your number. I was #4.
Next room is the security check (similar to airport security). I had brought a fairly large size purse with me, big enough to hold my binder and medical exam results easily. Which I was able to keep it me the whole time. We were required to turn off our cellphones and hand them in and got a ticket to pick them up after we were done. DO NOT LOSE THIS. Next we went down a flight of stairs to a waiting room for about 5 minutes and then we went on an elevator to the 19th floor. To another waiting room where the magic happens. They call you do a window (#1-4 I think) and this is where you provide the documents they require. Which are:
1. Proof of payment (for consulate fee $265 USD, also the sheet you can print off from the email showing the interview date)
2. Passport and color photocopy
3. 2 color 2x2” passport photos
4. Original police certificate(s)
5. Original and photocopy of LONG FORM birth certificate. They did have short form option but I had both.
6. Divorce certificate if applicable.
7. Medical exam results UNOPENED
8. Affidavit of Support
9. Recent tax return (2016 - they ask to keep the copy so make sure to have a couple).
10. Letter of Intent within 30 days of interview
I was called to window #3, provided the docutments above. THIS IS NOT THE INTERVIEW. She asked me to confirm my current address here in Canada with a phone number, and my fiancé’s address in the USA with a phone number. Just basic things. You need to give them your finger prints on the electric scanner, LEFT 4 fingers first, then RIGHT four fingers, and then two thumbs. She took all the info provided and gave me a pamphlet about domest abuse and some other stuff and wrote my number (#4) on it. Told me to sit down and wait to be called again for my interview.
After about 5 minutes I was called for my interview, which was in a little room with a lady on the other side of a glass window. She was super friendly. I had to swear an oath and do finger prints again, exact same as before. From here she asked me some very basic questions such as:
1. How did we meet?
2. When did we first meet?
3. What does your fiancé do for a living?
4. Is this your first marriage?
5. Have you ever visited him in the USA?
6. Have you ever been stopped at the boarder?
She asked them in a casual conversation manner, one question leading into the other. If I didn’t know better I wouldn’t have known I was being interviewed. She then said “Mam, congratulation you have been approved” and handed me the neon pink “welcome to America” sheet.
She did inform me that the courier current is about 2-3 weeks delayed due to the holidays coming up, so unfortunately it might be a few more weeks until I’ll be able to see my fiancé again - ALTHOUGH Ashe did give me the option of either taking my passport that day and visiting during the holidays and then sending my passport back to them to finish the visa process. All in all the whole intervtook maybe 7 minutes? Between 5-10 for sure. We were there for just over an hour for the entire process. But we’re approved! YAY!
Some afterthoughts: we were staying in the Holiday Inn in China Town.
From our hotel it was about a 12 minute walk downtown to the Medical exam building and about a 6-7 minute walk to the US Consulate. There was a simple grocery store near by (IGA) located in a mall. Which also had a very good brunch restaurant called “Eggspectation”.
Also the only English movie theatre is the Scotia Cineplex downtown as well.
Sorry if my info is all over the place! I’m typing as I go!

Hey! Yeah, it took about a week for them to open up again. It seems kind of random, and I checked a few times a day. It shouldn't take too long before dates show up I think.

Hi guys! So today, I logged into the visa appointment website to book an interview in Montreal .... And saw a message that read no appointments available currently for Mtl, check back in a couple days....um, is this normal? I want to book my interview so badly so I can figure out when to do the medical .... I have Packet3 and Packet4. Any thoughts? Does anyone have the Montreal schedule? Would I have better luck calling?
-
NikkiFromCanada reacted to Kim & Zak in Montreal medical & Consulate interview Reviews
Yep, that's normal.. just keep checking! As far as I can tell, they generally do every Wednesday, but that gets switched up sometimes. I haven't had any luck calling them myself.

NikkiFromCanada reacted to NikLR in Scheduling montreal interview
Lots of people have on this website.
K1 book their own interview FYI. You send packet 3, and when you get packet 4 back (everything is email) then you can book the interview. After the interview is booked and the beneficiary has registered for courier services, they can schedule their medical.
Be aware there are often times that Montreal does not have openings for K1 to book interviews. Just keep checking back until you can. Montreal will automatically extend the validity of the noa2 if this happens. But try to get an interview booked before the NOA 2 expires. The interview does not need to happen before it expires, just BOOKED before it expires.

Ask to your consulate.
we actually had this discussion @faycher asked to the embassy, and they said VO would prefer wet unless nothing can be done about it.
apparently uscis, and NVC works with scanned copy as they both have written statements but embassies fly their own planes.

Oh I will be checking non-stop lol. I will be fine with whatever the closest date I can get. From what I can see, most people are able to get an interview date a month or so out. I’ll be okay with that. I have a lot of stuff to take care of, then finalize once I get approved (fingers crossed) lol

Update:
Got Packet 3 email on 24th May and we responded with DS 160, scanned Passport page and check list on the same day. Now waiting for packet 4. I have updated the timeline as well.

But Montreal is just so fuuun!! /s
Packet 4 uusally doesn't take too long at all, though.. like a day
Anyone know what touches to cases at the embassy mean? I keep seeing mine updated on CEAC and it's probably nothing but I'm still paranoid, we've been ready for two months or so now so I haven't really expected any updates..

Montreal is super frustrating! They received our case on March 20th and we didn't get Packet 3 until April 25th. I did the same thing as you and emailed them once a week and always got the "don't send until we ask" email, meanwhile people whose cases had been received weeks after ours were booking their interviews. It sucks!

NikkiFromCanada reacted to Klwintersmith in Montreal K1 visa experience!
Our interview was this morning at 8! We were approved!!!! Yaaay!!! This process is a stressful one not going to lie to anyone. It took us over a year from start to finish.
I'll give some tips to anyone going through the process in Montreal!
1. Be there at least 20-30 minutes early! The appointment times don't mean anything...it's whoever gets there first gets in first (if you're in the same time). So we had our appointment for 8 we got there at 725 and there was already 5 people in front of us! The consulate doesn't open until 730 but we got there early to get ahead of the line.
2. The guards are nice very professional.
3. We brought our cell phones they just took them at the door and gave them back when we left.
4. Once inside there are snack and drink vending machines but when we went the drink machine was broken (there is a water fountain by the men's washroom). The machines take Canadian currency. We weren't sure so we brought both types just to be safe.
5. Small kids play area with books.
6. We had a lady at the first window (brown hair and glasses) that was amazing!! Same with the lady conducting the actual interview.
7. All the staff was very understanding of our toddlers energy and need to run.
8. The actual interview took all of 5 minutes (how we met, how long we have dated, what he does for work, etc) simple relationship questions that anyone should know!
9. There is a photobooth in the elevator waiting area for visa pictures in case you forgot them. It charges $10 for them. We didn't use it so not sure if it's cash or card but either way it's there.
10. We entered the building at about 745 and were completely done and on our way by 9!
The best thing to do is to breathe try not to be nervous. The interview seemed to be the easiest part of the whole year long process!

NikkiFromCanada reacted to TNTidaho in Montreal K1 visa experience!
i had in interview in Montreal May 22, my appointment time was 7:30 i got there at 6:55 (4 people ahead of me also), everything above is exactly as it is quick easy.
I was out of the interview and back at my hotel by 8:30. I check on the Ceac site at 11:00am and it said Administrative Processing. I received an email May 23 at 11:00 am that my pass port was ready to ship. I got an update from Canada post via email that it was being picked up yesterday afternoon, check this morning it says I will be able to pick it up today.
Interview May 22 pick up passport at Calgary post office May 24 I couldn't find anywhere any good info about priority shipment so i just decided to save the $20 and pick it up and I'm thinking that might of been just as fast if not faster to just pick up the passport.

NikkiFromCanada reacted to reblem14 in Interview Prep & Packet 3
Hey there, sorry for the late reply. Crazy weekend.
1) Yes I did receive it the same day which I couldn't believe. I did go ahead and send the DS-160 Confirmation and checklist to them expecting the standard reply but then a few hours later I got Packet 3 by email. Which I submitted right away since I had it all ready to go. I ended up getting Packet 3 in the mail just this week so it's really nice that they actually email it to you first.
2) I think it's pretty common to get Packet 4 right away after submitting Packet 3 so that wasn't too much of a surprise. Nope, no extraordinary circumstances.
3) Yes when I received Packet 4 that was the first available spot. I didn't look too much at how far ahead they schedule but I think it was about a month and only on Wednesdays.

NikkiFromCanada reacted to Prince & Angel in Form I-134 must have an original signature?!?
It's clearly said about NVC, and not the Conslute (US embassy in your country), For i-134, wet sign is mandatory.

NikkiFromCanada reacted to SC2018 in Timeline from NVC (In Transit) to Interview (Ready)
We have decided for the original I-134, with the wet signature, just to be safe. But the documents that go with it, all copies.
