Awesome!!! Did you email your congressman? And did you have to provide any supporting documentation or reason on why you are asking for his help? Or is the fact that it's almost past inquiry date is sufficient enough? I may do that this wknd 🤪🤪🤪

We had our interview and did not get approved on the spot either. But the interview started on time and ended in about 45min so can't complain.

The interviewer was really cold at first and just went through our applications verifying names, dates, financials etc. Then the conversation became more relaxed after we told the story of how we met, how the proposal and marriage went etc. We even made him chuckle a few times 😁

But there was no approval on the spot :( he made it sounds like it's not common to get a decision on the same day. He said the decision should come out in 3-4 weeks and then if it all goes well, we should get the card in another 4-5 weeks.... 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 I really tried staying calm when I heard that.

I did ask him about whether we could still be getting the EAD/AP while we wait for the GC decision, and he said yes as it is handled by a different office/different process. At least that's a relief. I really just need either the EAD or GC at this point!!

Good luck everyone either waiting or is doing an interview soon! Your time will come! And just understand that although it does depend on the subjectivity of the officer in terms of what questions/how deep he will probe into your case and your personal life, it's helpful to prep the interview by looking through your application and remember the key dates you wrote on there so there is no discrepancy during the interview. If anything, if you stick to the truth, you'd be okay!

Yes, I sent an email. I just gave him the low down of my situation, and that I’ve been waiting almost 7 months for work/travel authorization. I mentioned that I had my Green Card interview and that our case is being held for further review. I got an email back within one hour. I also added that my husband and I are productive members of society, both with professional careers and that being out of the workforce for 9 months has been detrimental to my career. I mentioned that my husband is an active voter!! So we’ll see. I really hope he can help!! 🤞🏼

Just did our interview and it took 1,5 hours!!!!!! Not a pleasant experience at all. 😭

OMG no! Ours was at Baltimore too, and it took about 30 minutes. It was pleasant and seemed to go well, but I left very sad because we didn't get an on the spot approval like so many. I'm so discouraged now and I have no idea when I'll get my Green Card. What happened?? Do you remember his name? Ours was Garrison.

  3. So I'm back to waiting for EAD I guess. I know that after Green Card interview, my status can sit at "Interview Was Completed And My Case Must Be Reviewed" for months, so I'm forgetting I even had the interview, and I'm back to waiting for EAD. I'm almost at 7 months. I let myself get my hopes up too high leading up to the interview an now I honestly think I'm slipping into a depression.

Your experience sounds virtually the same as mine (see post one up from yours)!

My status has now changed to “Interview was completed and my case must be reviewed.” I am severely disappointed. I had my hopes up that the interview meant I would get my Green Card soon, but it looks like more waiting. It’s absolutely insane that they think it’s normal to put people through this. I’ve lost all hope.

  5. Just had my Green Card interview. He asked questions about our relationship. When we met, how we met, how often we saw each other over the last five years since we’ve been together, details on who would travel to who, etc. He asked all the yes/no questions from the application. Asked if I had anything else I wanted to give him. I gave him proof of joint car insurance/medical insurance, and some photos of our civil ceremony. He said he will keep our file for “further review” and if we don’t get an update on the USCIS site within 120 days, we can submit an inquiry. He said he would be surprised if it took half that time for an update. The interview took about 30 minutes. He was friendly, and we laughed and had light conversation with him. Wish I got an approval on the spot like some people, but we weren’t lucky. Now back to obsessively checking the site again. At least the interview is over with. I’m so tired of waiting and more waiting. One could seriously go into a depression during this process. So we’ll see how long it takes me to get my Green Card now.

Good luck!!!! You will do well!! Let us know the details after !!! :)

I have mine this week as well. Feeling nervous even though we have nothing to hide haha but i don't want to forget to bring something or somehow mess up! It's day 199 and there's no word on EAD, but if the gc interview goes well, that's all I need 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Sending positive vibes to everyone else still waiting in the process. Hang in there 💪💪💪💪

Thanks so much!! My EAD is at day 199 too! Not a word on that! Ridiculous!! I'll definitely report back with how it went! Good luck at your interview!!

    SSN info:

For those of you who applied for your replacement SSN in your married name on the I765 (or your original SSN on there too).

The SSA website states it should arrive within 7 days of receiving your EAD and to call if it doesnt arrive. Well I'm day 8 and was worried so I called.

Called my local SSA as that's where my denied married name application is but they had no record of an "auto" application on the I765.

So I called SSA Headquarters instead. They sent it out on the 22nd.

    So to calculate my timeline....

EAD New Card Being Produced April 9th.

    EAD Card received April 18th.

SSN mailed out April 22nd (and still not here).

She did say it could take up to 10 days from mailing which I find strange.

So if you're worried that it doesnt come try calling SSA 1-800-772-1213.

Wonder what the situation is with SSN for those who never get EAD, and go straight to Green Card. I will probably have to go into the SSN office and apply for a new SSN in my married name.

The reason I am concerned is I see a lot of people on here saying their status changed to ready for interview not very long after the biometrics and we are already past the posted date for the combo card

There is no need for concern. My case status never changed to "ready to be scheduled for an interview" until 5 months after "case was received". Once it changed to "ready to be scheduled for an interview" it stayed like that for 7 days, then it changed to "Interview was scheduled." Some case workers just don't update the case status as they work the case. It has no bearing on anything. You can't compare your case to anyone else's because some people get constant case status updates, some never get any. I've seen people receive their EAD in the mailbox, and their case status still says "Case was received." I still did not receive my EAD and it will be 6 months since I applied on April 19th. My Green Card interview is in 3 weeks, which means I will have waited 7 months for an interview, but my LFO Timeline says 9 months-22.5 months for an interview. There's no use trying to make sense of anything, or comparing your case to others. I've learned there's no pattern, or rules when it comes to USCIS.

Ask @NikkiFromCanada. She had an RFIE at the beginning of her process and had to wait for further processing. She can support the evidence that i eluded in the other thread that with I485s you get RFIE/RFEs at the beginning of the process and then you are stuck waiting.

Yeah they sent me a message asking how long it takes for USCIS to respond to an RFIE. I responded saying USCIS doesn't respond to an RFIE. They receive the information they requested, and your case just goes back in for normal processing.

I even called USCIS yesterday and asked about my case. He asked me "Do you feel like you have been waiting for a long time?" WHAT? YES I FEEL THAT I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR A LOOOONG TIME. OMG.

Wow lol duh!! Obviously!! Hahaha I know I have my interview, but that is still a month away. I would happily welcome EAD in the meantime!! They do NOTHING in order as MANY people who applied after me have been approved. Frustrating! I am a professional, with a career and to be out of the work force for 7 months while waiting on this process is insane!

    1. Bring the originals of everything you submitted with your I485. Passport to show bio page and K1 Visa sticker, BC if you submitted it, I94, Noa2 from your K1, original MC, whatever else you sent ie. Original Divorce Decrees, original criminal documents if applicable.

Pull out your cover letter and see what photo copies you sent and bring that.

    2. Only if the financial situation of your sponsor changed. Have they filed 2018 taxes since then? Gotten a better paying job? Do they earn more so now they do not need the joint sponsor you used originally? Lost their job so now you need a joint sponsor? Had a baby thus increasing your household size?

If so do up a new I864 just incase and bring new financial documents.

Ok that's easy enough. No joint sponsor, and my husband has the same job, making the same amount.

  13. I have some questions on what to bring to the Green Card interview regarding the following items....(K-1 Visa AOS

    1. "Original and copy of each supporting document that you submitted with your application."

What specific documents do they mean????

    2. "A completed Affidavit of Support with all required evidence, including the following, for each of your sponsors (unless already submitted):

    -Federal Income Tax returns and W2's or certified IRS printouts, for the most recent tax year;

    -Letters from each current employer, verifying current rate of pay and average weekly hours, and pay stubs for the past 2 months;

-Evidence of your sponsor's United States Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Resident status.

It says "UNLESS ALREADY SUBMITTED" and since I have already submitted all of this information....does that mean I DO NOT need to bring the items listed in #2 to the interview?

Do you have informed delivery setup? our interview was scheduled a few days ago and we have a USPS first class tracked item coming Monday.

So im going to assume your wish might be coming true :)

Yup! It's tracking my mail, but nothing showing for tomorrow or Monday and nothing for first class, or from USCIS yet!

Sorta off topic, but as you might have read we filed back in October for AOS and my wife got her GC back in Feb (yay) but her passport still has her maiden name (Japan). We are planning on going out of the country in afew weeks and im pretty certain she cant get her Japanese PP changed in time... so my question is, on the tickets should i just use her maiden last name? Would that be a problem when we reenter?

Always book in the name on her Passport, and bring marriage certificate when you travel, until she can change her name on her Passport.
