I just called the Mexican Embassy in Washington DC and I was told unless you have to go to Mexico for a medical emergency (citizens only) or you’re there for work, you’re not considered essential and therefore they won’t let you in. I asked about certain regions opening up and she said that’s only for certain travelers, not European ones. I know someone here was able to get to the US thru Mexico, but it sounds like it’s not possible to go to Mexico right now.

So does anyone have a definitive plan to get their fiancé here? I checked online and the US is not allowing any non-essential travel into the US from Mexico.

How would he get from for Croatia to the US?

Hey,
For those who are still interested in going to Croatia, I received a reply from the Croatian Border Police (see attached).
Please be noted as @zrdn2019 said, as of now, there is no way to get from Croatia to the US without transferring through Schengen area or UK.
In any case and if you choose this route, good luck!
So if my fiancé is in England, he can travel to Croatia, stay for two weeks and then come to the US?

So...if I understand correctly, the reason people were able to enter Mexico is because it was essential travel basically. Has anyone looked into seeing if they could enter another country? I was looking into Canada and found that they listed "transiting through Canada for essential travel" as essential. Does that mean that this could work in Canada too?
I called Canada customs and border patrol last week (I live in Michigan so I’m super close) and an officer said they wouldn’t allow people with K1 visas to just come in and quarantine as it’s not essential. Plus, the US and Canada are not opening up to each other at least for another month. If Canada opens their borders after June 22, I’m going to have my fiancé quarantine there since he can stay in Windsor which is a short drive from me.

Looks like it will be Mexico City as the point of destination for my fiancee and me.
I just read the US/Mexico border is closed for all non essential travel. How does this impact you coming back with your fiancé?

Hi everyone, my fiancé has his interview with the embassy on Wednesday. We are obviously hoping for the approval, so we are talking about how he will be moving his stuff here. Does anyone have any advice on moving from the UK to the US? He won’t be shipping any furniture or big items, just clothes and Knick knacks. Thanks!

Have you considered doing just that, getting married, and then filing CR-1?
And were you able to find out why you were denied specifically? We have considered and we plan on speaking to our attorney when fiancé gets here this weekend to address that possibility. We haven’t received the letter yet from USCIS as to why we were denied. Honestly, we are shocked because we had lots of good evidence and saved all boarding passes, pics and everything. -sigh- this process is so exhausting. We know this will work out some how. We want to make sure we do this correctly and go through all the appropriate channels.

Hey I am so sorry for what happened to you. I know the feeling. I wanted to share with you that one year ago me and my fiance went exactly thru the same thing. The same rfe and we got denied. Our divorce decree did content a mistake and because of this USCIS considered it invalid and we started from the scratch. I am sorry again and I hope you will find a way to be with your beloved one.
Does this mean when we appeal we have to start all over with new evidence? I have plenty since we see each other every few months but this is breaking my heart. His heart , too. We both feel lost and like we did everything right and now it set us back. I hate when people ask when the wedding date is because we can’t determine that yet as much as we wish we could.

Hi everyone. I’m an August 2018 K1 visa petitioner. My fiancé is from England. We’ve been together a year and a half and started dating when I was separated from my ex. We got a RFE in feb 2019 and they needed a certified copy of my divorce decree. I got a certified copy and when I called USCIS about the issue the agent told me it was a small issue and my application looked great. I waited a month and still no response. I asked our attorney and he said I could call. They said they were waiting on another background check and still said it looked great. This agent said because my fiancé is English we should have no issue. Fast forward to last week and I called for another update since it had been 90 days since I sent in the RFE. The customer service rep said my case was denied. I was upset and she said a letter was mailed out on May 13. I had attorney call USCIS to confirm why and we were told by another agent it wasn’t denied and she was apologizing for the fact the customer service rep told me that. This morning I got a notification from the website that our petition was denied and a letter was sent out June 13. Can someone please help me understand this? First we were denied, then not and now we are. I’m so heart broken.

Petition has been denied officially according to the website :( fiancé is from England. We got a RFE I march asking for a certified copy of my divorce decree. Sent it. They acknowledged they got it and now a denial. My attorney is baffled and has no idea why they would just deny it after we sent in what they needed. I’m crushed. We have to wait for the letter to come in. Does anyone have any insight about this?

Ok so update on my case. I called USCIS yesterday because our attorney’s paralegal wasn’t able to get an update due to a new rule they implemented last week that only the attorney or petitioner can get updates over the phone. My attorney is out of town until next week. It’s been 90 days since I sent in my RFE which was a certified divorce judgment from my previous marriage. I called USCIS and the customer service rep was incredibly rude and berated me for not having my case number handy. I was at work so I didn’t have it on me that moment. She took my personal info and said “your case is denied.” I asked “so what you’re saying is my petition is denied?” And she replied, “didn’t you hear a word I just said? Your case is denied and we mailed out a letter on May 31st. So you’re gonna have to read the letter to find out why.” I asked to be connected to someone that would know why and she refused. So I hung up. I was so upset and called my paralegal crying. She was shocked and said she check my case last week and there was no denial. So she got both of us on the line with a tier 2 agent and I gave USCIS permission to talk to the paralegal about my case. This woman apologized and said my case wasn’t denied and it was still pending. I was infuriated and told the agent whomever spoke to me earlier needs to be spoken to because this is my future and we are 10 months out with no answer. She advised we should get an answer by June 25. I’ve contacted my state senator’s immigration liaison about my case. USCIS told me back in March that once they received my divorce decree we would get an answer soon. And two updates after that when I called, all they said was “we’re understaffed and busy so we can’t get to it yet.” So to all of you that have your fiancé with you, count your lucky stars because we’ve been messed around so much with such a simple case and a simple RFE.

So what exactly is your rfe about ?
It was regarding my divorce decree from my previous marriage. My city doesn’t stamp or certify your original divorce decree and USCIS wants a stamped, certified original. I had to go to my county clerk and get a certified original and send it to them.

Have you asked them if they even touched your rfe response ?
Yes. They did look at it but they said they needed to do another background check after that. They got the background check on April 1st and it’s now “in review”.

I’m still waiting for my NOA2
we received a RFE Feb 25 and it’s been 43 days since they received it. All they needed was a certified copy of my divorce decree. I called twice since to inquire about the length of time this is taking. All I was told is I’m past the normal processing times and it could be another 5 weeks before we hear anything. My fiancé and I are bumming pretty hard right now. I see people on here already getting their visas and we’re still a long ways off.

USCIS received my response to the RFE two weeks ago and still haven’t heard back. Anyone here wait a while before an approval?

Hey, I’ve been following this page since November but never wrote anything. I made profile yesterday cause I’m getting worried and wanted to ask. Our Noa1 date is August 30 and we haven’t still heard anything. Is this normal?😫 Is there anyone else from August still waiting? Should we call or do something or just keep waiting? Thank you❤️
I tried calling about a month and a half ago and I was told to call back for an update if it was over 7 months 😕 you can try but it’s a to get in contact with a person. I heard back exactly 6 months after we applied. Still waiting for the approval after we sent in additional evidence from the RFE.

Another question about visiting again. My fiancé started a new job in January and didn’t tell anyone about the visa process and his intent to move here some day because he didn’t want to not get the job and appear disloyal to the company. He still hasn’t talked about us much to anyone and even though he plans on visiting here in two weeks, he said he can’t ask his boss to write a letter stating he expects him back on April 8 because it’ll appear suspicious. Are pay stubs enough along with bill statements and bank statements? I’m so worried about him being turned away when he’ll literally be in the same building as me

USCIS received my response to the RFE a week ago. How long does an approval usually take? I know it’s a pretty quick turn around from what I’ve heard.

I assumed since hes visiting he already had a tourist visa. Sorry I replied without seeing what country hes coming from. I don't see why he would be denied entry if he is approved for his ESTA. And also can show he is staying less than 90 days.
He’s from England. If he’s applied for an ESTA once does that mean it’s good for every visit? I remember him saying he had to buy a visa to visit and it was like $15 or something

I'm getting mad just reading this about your attorney. Anything to get money. For one you can write your own affidavit and have it notarized for nothing. But that isn't necessary. 100s of people visit their fiancés on tourist visas while k1 is pending. With tourist visas I'm pretty sure you have a return ticket. You'll be fine as long as you have any proof you're leaving the country and not violating the visa (i.e. getting married). The lawyer is simply confusing the process of applying for tourist visa after you've already applied for K1 visa. Doing that is very difficult and regularly gets denied. However already having a tourist visa is a different story. As long as you don't violate the visa and over stay or get married then you will be fine.
Does he need a tourist visa? He’s only staying a week. I think the tourist visa is if you intend on staying longer than 6 months?
