  1. Interview Cancelled!

Yesterday, Feb 6th my interview was cancelled but I did not received any cancellation notice from the mail. The security officers allowed us to go inside and was able to sign in by the window capturing my finger prints and photo. However on Feb 3rd my case tracker alert me of a new update and indeed stated a notification for Cancelled Interview. On jan 30th, a uscis admin assistant emailed me about the cancellation. My husband decided that we still proceed and drive over the field office. I'm hoping that the IO will proceed with the interview. Unfortunately, the officer confirm that it was cancelled and apologized for us driving over. I am hoping that my interview date will rescheduled soon.

Me and my fiancé are currently in the process of applying for the K1 visa. He previously studied abroad on a J1 visa for a term in the US. We just found his DS2019 form and on the section where it says if he would be subject to the 2-year residency requirement, there is no box ticked. For reference, see the below picture. He also doesn’t have his J1 visa anymore - it is lost. Is there any way we can find out if he is subject to the 2 year requirement? Or if no box is ticked, does that mean there is no 2 year residency requirement? Thanks.

You can do an online inquiry at the Department of State website HERE-https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/advisory-opinions.html. If you have other concern, I strongly suggest that email the advisory opinion or Waiver Advisory Opinion on your case. They have all the records and surely knows everything about the status of your case. Goodluck!

Again thank you, like me I know many of you are new to the whole process. Do you know how to go about medical?I didn’t submit it with my application and I don’t want to do it too soon for fear of it getting expired before an interview.

Hi! I did my medical (I-693 form) last Dec. 16th and completed by the civil doctor on Dec. 20th. My interview was scheduled on Feb. 06, 2020. So it's like a month.

Congrats on the EAD!! That should surely help with the financials!!

We also did it without a lawyer, and couldn't have done it without this community. The immigration officer complimented me on assembling all the paperwork myself, and my husband's green card was mailed yesterday. 🙌

Its a very interesting journey right? Yes I am so thankful for all those members who tirelessly shares whats really important to this community. Congratulations! Im so happy for you😊

Good evening. I filled a petition and adjustment of status for my mum who was currently in US in August 2019.  In a month she was called for biometrics and today Dec.23 we got a request to send I-+693 (Medical examination and vaccination). I was under impression that USCIS should send a list of med.facilities which perform necessary services and fill that form? And it should be free of charge as part of the I485 package. Am I right?

No, I-693 will come from your own pocket. The list of civil doctor is located at their website HERE: https://my.uscis.gov/findadoctor. The doctor will fill out everything on that form. You can bring ALL previous doctors visit and/or your vaccine records. The cis doctor will then analyze your records and will tell you which vaccines and blood test you need.

  7. Today, December 23rd 2019, I received my interview schedule by mail. It will be on February 6, 2020! Grateful for this holiday blessings. My EAD will also arrive soon (hopefully this week). Happy Holidays everyone! Stay positive, August filers mostly getting their interview schedule now and some already got their EAD cards. If you think that your wait time is outside the normal processing, don't hesitate to call the hotline.

  8. Finally after 38 days of waiting since my case was updated to ready to schedule for interview, I just received this today "On December 18, 2019 we scheduled an interview for your form I-485". So glad and finally now could prepare my documents to bring for the interview. Hopefully, all of theJuly and August filers will soon scheduled for an interview or got your schedule date by now. Just hang on guys, we're almost done😊.

Try a different office. I couldn't find a current edition of the "Acceptable Documents" PDF, but see page 17 (I-797 for I-485) of the 07/19/2017 edition: https://web.archive.org/web/20170830071436/https://www.flhsmv.gov/ddl/aila/acceptabledocuments.pdf

Thanks! Yeah that's what Im seeing on some post here. Trying other county or city maybe. I don't understand why some staff are unaware about this.

    Hello all,

I’m not sure if this topic was already opened I couldn’t find it so I started a new one...

Just wanted to share something happened today, this information might help for others too..

Previously I was calling my local DMV to ask about a temporary drivers license if I’m able to get it with the pending I130 and I 485 without having any EAD OR GC OR SSN ?? The answer was yes I can and the lady told me what to bring with me I didn’t needed appointment I was able to walk in so this morning I went there she looked over all the paperwork I had with me and she let me do the written test on the computer which was easy and I passed it,also took a photograph of me.

When I passed the written test they told me I can go back to do the road test by appointment only tomorrow so I’m very excited I’m going to get a 1 year Florida drivers license if everything goes well tomorrow it’s going to be in my hand🍀👏🙏😊🥰

The lady also told me once I have my green card in my hand I can go back and they give me the eight years old drivers license and I don’t have to do the tests anymore..

The reason I’m sharing this because I heard So many different stories people telling about different locations and states that they were not able to do that until they had the EAD in hand.

I’m sure every state and city are different so I’m just sharing my experience.

The documents I had to bring with me are the following:

    - NOA1 I130

    - NOA1 I485

    - passport

    - previous passport where i had a stamp that im admitted to the country

    - marriage license

    - my husband’s passport ( proof of citizenship)

    - 2 utility bill on my name to the current address

    Good luck everyone!!

It happened to me! West Florida, they want me to wait for my EAD although I brought everything including my I-797. Yes its true that not all DMV's are the same. The staff may or may not let you get DL. Isn't it so unfair?

Hello all, I had my overseas medical examination in my country (Malaysia) last August 2019. I rejected all vaccinations when filing for K1 Visa due to pregnancy. I arrived in USA on Sept 2019, and currently filing for Adjustment of Status. Do I still have to go through another medical examination with civil surgeon in USA? I can't have any vaccinations done until I am due in February 2020. What should I do with my I-693? Do i still file it? It says on the website that you don't have to file another medical examination for K1 applicant since a medical examination was already done overseas. Thank you in advanced!

Your civil surgeon will annotate your document according to your specific circumstances. Please read this important information.

I was reading the instructions on this page:

    https://www.uscis.gov/forms-filing-tips

    It says there:

I am not sure if this means I have to attach separate cover letters, each with a subject stating the nature of submission and the form number or if I could submit just one cover letter with a single nature of submission, e.g. Original Submission - Adjust of Status (Family Based I-130 Immediate Relative of U.S. Citizen) ?

Yes its confusing! There are a lot of confusing instructions but it really pays off reading carefully specially when your filing by yourself without the help of a lawyer.

    Heres what I did:

*I put "ORIGINAL SUBMISSION" note at the large envelope or my AOS package  right on the top right or wherever it is very visible to the one receiving the package. I believe they sort the nature of submission according to what it is. Remember, Chicago receives hundreds or even thousands of applications and packages EACH day so it is highly important to pay attention to the GENERAL & SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS from USCIS website.

*I include "ORIGINAL SUBMISSION" note in my cover letter "subject area" just like your example. I also include cover page on each of my applications (General cover page, I-485, I-130, I-765, I-864).

Hi everyone!  When filing I-130 and I-485 in the same packet, do I only send one form to pay for the whole amount ($1760) or do I need to send 2 (one for $535 and one for $1225) so they are individual? (I'm paying with a card, so I'm submitting form G-1450)

If I need to submit two separate forms, is it ok if I just put them both on top of the entire binder or do they have to be, say, payment for I-130 on top of that section in my binder, and payment for I-485 on top of its section?

Thank you and I hope this is not confusing.

I put two separate payments; 1 for i-130 and the other one is for I-485. However you can also use only one form G-1450 and put it on the very top of "everything"
