Just got off the phone with Immigration,  WE GOT  CITA DATE!. Seemed Like forever.. But its scheduled 8/28/18! 

I got my interview date assigned today!
CC March 15th, appointment date: August 28th! 
it's crazy how backlogged Mexico is, but I am so happy the day will finally arrive  <3 
 

You should get your appointment the end of this month. From looking at the dates, they aren’t gettng through a full month anymore. (they only set appointments for cc of  late Feb and beginning of March.) You mid-Marchers should be totally in this time! I felt the same way last month- I was sure they would pass us by somehow! And no, our priority dates don’t mean anything because your husband and I are both citizens and you and my husband don’t have waivers and all that. 
I got a really rude person the first time I called and a lovely one the second. At least she was real pleasant and told me we were in the queue,  unlike #1.  That was before the third call May 31 when I got the date. 
I’ll be back on the island Saturday and we go to Juarez from July 11-17. I’ll go back to the island for 10 days to three weeks depending if he gets his approval. I’ll stay til my school starts if he doesn’t.  And be looking forward to retirement even more. Otherwise, I’ll head on back to the US after putting some affairs  in order and he will follow in a month or so after making arrangements for his dad. At least you know for almost damn sure you’ll get a thumbs up! They may find us not fit because we are 60 and 62, lol! Lots of people are sending positive vibes on both sides of the border so we’ll see what the stars have in store.

I was thinking about you a couple of days ago.  Checked your data and saw you hadn’t listed an appointment date.  Our cc was February 26 and our appointment is July 16, so we are ten days shy of 5 months waiting from cc. I know your frustration and agitation. Start calling as soon as you know appointments are out. I was only on hold 20 minutes. It took 2 days for the email to arrive after that. I think you must’ve just missed the cut, from the way the dates look. That happened to us last month! I was worrying we still wouldn’t get one for some reason, but that didn’t happen.  You’ll be on the front lines at the end of June! 

Nice. Like I said I am open to everything else and I have nothing to hide. My question was if there is a limit or not, and if it was common or not. I believe those are fair questions. And if they say they have to go through my phone then I will let them go through my phone. 
 
I can already see this thread is going to go south if an otherwise reasonable person equates asking about searching through phones with not caring about national security.

And some using lawyers had big problems cause their lawyers screwed up something very simple that's been outlined in our guides and forums a hundred times.
Not all lawyers are as good or as well versed in immigration as you pushbrk. I'd hire you in a second if I thought I needed help, but the amount of nitwits calling themselves lawyers who are screwing up simple applications, is astronomical. Just look around on this forum. 
 
To TS, I agree with above posters. If you have a straightforward case, are a meticulous person and got all the evidence lined up, I would do the application myself. If you have any doubts please do contact a lawyer, but make sure it's one that's familiar with immigration laws. 

Thank you!  They would have a way better quality of life in Cozumel, and they do. They own a house, rent an apartment in front of the ocean and have a nice retirement that will actually do good over there. I'm actually not planning to retire in the USA myself anyway, will probably come back to Mexico

I'm fuming because someone said it's ''normal'' and ''not ridiculous''  to wait 4-5 friggin months for an interview date since Mexico City is the country that gets the most VISAS. Sure, I know that, it's still a ridiculous amount of time to wait. Still hopeful I'll get a date for July, but it is starting to look less and less likely. Sometimes I wish Mexicans were less obsessed with being close to their entire friggin' families, which I know sounds mean. I love my parents, but the fact I'm moving to the U.S doesn't mean I will try to get them both there. 
My grandma said I was ''heartless'' because I won't start the process for them AND my brother, and I don't even have a relationship with him. I'm moving to the U.S because my husband lives there and we will start a life together. It's just a horrible idea anyway since my family lives at the beach and there they can afford to retire, but not in the U.S. Oh well.

You should have already selected a shipping location for your visa. You can either pick it up in Juarez (saves 1-2 business days) or have it delivered anywhere in Mexico. That said, you should be ok to travel back to your home in Mexico the next day, but be open to the possibility of having to delay your return. You might get a RFE at the interview, or have to redo the medical. Most people, however, are free to go home immediately after the interview. We flew back to Guadalajara only 3 hours after the interview.
 
The embassy estimates 10 business days for the return of the passport and visa. Most people on here, including myself, receive it within 5-10 business days (look at my signature for a detailed timeline), with 3 business days being the fastest I've seen. Some have to wait longer, sometimes 15-20 business days. 
 
Unless you have a reason to stay in Juarez (such as crossing the border to trigger the creation of the green card), I would recommend just going back home. Juarez isn't the nicest city in the world and it's way too hot.

Yes!  Thank you, J Laredo, for that tip.  Although we had not been notified yet, I just phoned the NVC and was told that our interview date was assigned today.  Case complete March 13.  Interview July 23.  Hoping others are also getting good news today, too!! Abrazos para todos!

Oh,  you have to be in the US to do them, can't do it in CDJ? He isn't in the US. We don't have a lawyer either. We hopefully won't need them since there's no way to get them. Thanks!

I called twice in May and got no info either. They just said "yes, you're on the waiting list." Depends on who answers I guess. Also what they know at the time. 

o my gosh. I cant even imagine how busy the embassy must be.Hopefully we'll get good news soon.
