That’s not accurate is taking longer. Sandra explained me it could take up to 2 years. I was approved on August 2018. I am still waiting. NYC has one of the longest wait time 🙁. There is nothing we can do than wait our time.

I guess the law was modified because that’s how it used to be. It sound ridiculous because how people are going to stay married to the abuser. Laws  are always changing for some reason. I knew someone who was married to a U.S citizen  and had to wait 5 years. @sandranj can you get involve in this issue.

I have read you can apply for citizenship in 3 years if you are still married to the abuser and 5 if you are not. You can also fill your application 3 months prior to the 3 or 5 years. You can always verify this information with @sandranj

Meaning that if you didn’t file concurrently you will still get put in removal if your Vawa gets denied. Lord have mercy.

Yes, it’s true, but some people wait so in case gets denied they are not place in removal proceedings.

Don’t be scared or afraid of him. There is nothing that he can do to interfere with your I360. He doesn’t have any power on your self-petition application.  He can go and say whatever he wants to the officer, they will not take in consideration anything she says about your character. The only thing he can do is to withdrawal the family petition and I485. If he does withdrew the I485, you always can fill out another one after Vawa approval. Always be mindful that you are not the first or the last one to go through something like this. I am sure many people here had a husband like yours and were successful with their application. Stay away from him  (block him)because he will end up messing your sanity.

I checked the box because I needed my GC right away and I didn’t want to wait after Vawa approval. Anyway so far I had an smooth journey. I didn’t even receive any RFE or anything. Thank god. Just waiting for interview!🙏

When I filed the I485, I checked the box refusing to get C31 after Vawa approval so I did not get C31 work permit. Don’t ask me why I checked that box LOL🤣🤣🤣. I renewed with C09 category.

Yes Vermont, you can send in the paperwork 180 days before expiration.

Hey guys, today around 1:00 am got an email and message saying my I765 renewal has been approved. I filled the first week of April so it took around 3 months to get approved.

This what I got from @sandranjwhen asked her back in April. 

NYC is adjudcating the cases recieved in August 2016, they are taking between 24 to 30 months to set up interview in NYC. You have  a LONG TIME AHEAD TO wait at least 1year more,if no more. Keep reniewing your EAD 6 months  prior the expiration date.

From approval. Check their timeline they are processing 2016 still. Unfortunately, NYC has one of the longest wait time. Is going to be a year since I got approve. I work a lot so I don’t think about it and I keep myself busy. We are almost there. 🙏

Hey, I was approved in August got medical letter  in october and no updates so far. @sandranj said it could take up to 2 years. It’s a long wait for NYC.

 There are people who wrote 10-20 o even more pages it depends on experiences. Focus on content and details. Keep your faith up.

I will give you my humble opinion. Take out the cheating and you can have a case. All you have wrote here sounds like emotional, psychological, verbal and sexual abuse. Gather the police report, medical record, call the dv hotline and ask them to refer you to dv counseling. Write a very detailed affidavit. Write down how you find out you were infected and how that has impacted you mentally. How the abuse has affected you. Get affidavits from people who know you both.There is a website where you can find samples of how to write an affidavit. I will give you the link.  Gather all the other evidence and you might have a good chance. Just do it! Everyone here has different experiences and cases. Push through. Just don’t emphasizes on his cheating.  Focus Focus on the “abuse”

FYI: I didn’t suffer  any physical abuse. It was psychological, emotional and verbal abuse. I didn’t pay for an evaluation. I called the DV hotline and I was given the phone number of organizations that provide services. I met with a counselor several times and she just wrote me a letter saying I was coming in for counseling to deal with the abuse that I had suffer etc. Like I say we all have different cases. Just do what you got to do.  I was approved back in August 2018.

Hello people from NY. Today, I went to my local DMV office to renew my DL with the 180 EAD extension letter. When the worker saw the letter, she said she needed to talk to her supervisor. The supervisor read the letter quickly and said that was not the letter because He couldn’t see until what date uscis was extending my EAD so there weren’t going to renew my card. Then, I demanded her to allow me talk to  another supervisor. First, she was like you already spoke to a supervisor so why you want to talk another one. I kept calm and responded that it’s my right to speak to who ever I need to. Finally,  I was transfer to another supervisor, then again I had to explain that I needed to renew my license and I pointed out to her that the she should extend my license 180 days from the date my dl is expiring. She took the time to read carefully and she went ahead to do a “SAVE”data check system. The supervisor extended my dL until January 2020. Please people don’t take NO for answer. Insist and  educate people. Being on the other side of the window don’t mean they know it all so keep pushing. The second supervisor apologized and explained that they have a lot paperwork so they don’t take the time to read.

Getting a prima facie means that they took a glance at the documents that you submitted and decided that you provided enough documents to establish a Vawa case. With Prima facie you can try to apply for some benefits such as, food stamp and/or Emergency Medicaid. It  does not means that you will not get a RFE during the waiting period. I personally received PF and never got a RFE. My case was approved without any inconvenience.

Hey, I got courtesy letter too. I got it in September. Getting a courtesy letter doesn’t mean you will get an interview quickly. I did my medical in January hoping that I was going to get interviewed in the next couple months. I will probably have to get the medical done again because I read that you can’t get medicals done two months or 3 months in advance. I also asked Sandra and she explained that      it make take a year or more to get interview in NY. Sandra said USCIS is processing AOS from August 2016. There is nothing we can do than wait and enjoy everyday. We are really lucky  and blessed to be alive and be able to apply for this benefit without the help of our abusers.🙏🙏🙏
