  1. Had my husband's interview in Santa Clara office on 1/24/2020. It was a pretty smooth process. We arrived about 45 minutes before our scheduled time (9:30 AM) and were called right on time. The wait was very minimal. We were in the interview room for appx. 30 minutes.

    The official was super nice.

    1. We have traveled out of the country since my husband received his AP/EAD so he asked us for an updated 1-94.

    2. I got a new job since submitting my affidavit of support, so I provided him an updated form and new pay stubs/employment info.

    3. He asked how we met, when we got engaged/married, what type of wedding (civil and religious)

    4. asked my husband for my DOB

    5. Asked for proof of joint accounts, assets, photos. We gave him our wedding photos and honeymoon, as well as bank statements, phone bill, and medical insurance.

&  that was it. He notified us that we would receive a decision in the mail within 5 weeks.

Can someone give me the website to check the status to see if anything has changed? Thanks!

    UPDATE:

My AOS interview was scheduled for Oct 22! My original LFO was San Francisco and the waiting time was 17 to 24 months, they relocated my case to a different office (Sacramento). We’re totally excited and happy, this was so unexpected!

Congrats!!! Did you request the relocation or where you luckily sent over there ? SF is exhaustingly slow 😫

    Congratulations!

Did you ever check the status of your service request on the website? Was it assigned to an officer?

My service request was assigned  to an officer on Aug 2 and the same day it said that they mailed a response and they closed the request, but no changes on the status of the EAP,  still "case received" everywhere. But now I have some hope that maybe what they mailed is actually the letter of approval! Hopefully the letter arrives tomorrow. It's been 246 days for me...

No I didn’t check the status. I only received an email that I would get a response before the 23rd of August.

  4. 227 days later && finally received our letter of approval for EAP/AP.

BTW: we didn’t receive any email or text notification and both the old and new website still say “case received”. So these letters in the mail were super unexpected.

Approval date: 8/3 but received the letters in the mail today.

I sent an inquiry about our processing time on 8/1. Not sure if it had anything to do with the approval, doubt it because we were approved just 2 days later *shrug*

Hope this gives some of you a little hope 🤗

  5. Hi!

    Just curious.

SO, I have been changing all my documentation to my new last name. All that's left is my US passport. It's good for another 7 years!!😒😫

I plan on travelling back to DR in December, so I need to get to that ASAP. But my question is, do I REALLY have to change my passport to my new married name? Like, would I be stopped or something? I know they want everything to be accurate and all, but since it's still good for a whole 7 years, it's annoying I have to spend another $110 to get a new one. If I have to I will.

Any experiences using your maiden name passport while travelling abroad? Thankss

This morning we booked a six-night stay in an Airbnb for my inlaws and other family members to stay the week of our wedding celebration in Canada. Feeling increasingly anxious as more and more people are spending tons of money to book flights and hotels but we can't book our flights yet because we are waitinggggggg. VERY glad that we left 8+ months "just in case the EAD/AP takes double the expected time." Really hoping we all get put out of our misery ASAP.

OMG we are on the same boat!!! When is your wedding in Canada??

If I may ask were your medical results back on time. My husband is only going about 10 days before the interview he went last Friday our interview is April 4 !

    Hi,

Yes our results were back in time, but my husband went about 2 months before if I recall correctly. He went to pick up his results 2 weeks later.

Unfortunately, the RFE may delay the case. If you reply right away, there’s a chance it will not delay it. From what I’ve read, the clock ticking resumes when the RFE reply is received.  I had an RFE and sent in my reply within 24 hours. It still took them 3 weeks to reflect that they received it. It did not seem to have affected my EAD/AP combo card arrival so my advice is, take action immediately as soon as you receive the RFE. Do not send it in before you get the RFE in the mail because you need to send that piece of paper back with your reply.  Make a copy. Good luck!

P.S. I received an RFE about 3 weeks after my receipt date. It’s been 3 months since your NOA1 so let’s hope they will let it slide. I say that because you should’ve received the RFE by now.

Thanks!! That's what I was wondering. I'm 3 months in and still no RFE>> so fingers crossed they don't decide to send me one 6 months in😫 Thank you!

  9. Hi Everyone,

My NOA1 is 12/28/18 and have read it takes about 4-6 months for your AP combo card to be approved. Well, I'm expecting to get an RFE because I didn't put duplicated of certain documents (Thinking the whole packet was one, and didn't know it would be eventually separated)...Anyways, is this "4-6 months" range when my case will be reviewed and potentially given a RFE? or would an RFE be sent prior to the 4-6 month range?

Not sure if this question is even answerable 😕 but I thought I'd give it a shot.

&& does an RFE back track the processing by a lot???

I'm having my destination wedding in December (so, about 8 more months), and my paranoia is kicking in. 😖

  10. Hi everyone,

My status changed to "interview ready to schedule" as of yesterday. I was excited for about 30 minutes, until I saw SF office roughly takes about 15 months to schedule an interview 😣

SO with that being said, I'm hoping EAD/AP will come much sooner.

My NOA 1 date is December 28 2018, around how long did it take everyone to receive that? I'm expecting a RFE (I didn't put duplicates of passport photos)....So, if anyone else received an RFE, did it back track your EAD/AP by a lot??? Thanks!!!

  11. Our processing time online from I-485 stated 17.5 to 20.5 months (San Francisco, CA Office)  😫 This did not make me feel better!

AND our processing time for `I-131 Travel Doc. stated 4-6 months. Ahhhh! This is so nerve wrecking. We have our wedding planned in the Dominican Republic for December 3, 2019.

Our NOA1 is 12/29/18, and biometrics were done 1/25/18. Haven't heard or seen an update since. Sighhhsss.

Good luck to everyone on this same journey!

I think so, if you carry with you others documents (as you mentioned above). And then,  you are able to explain and prove why you have “two different” names.

Thanks! I would assume so also. I've read that they only require passport names to match the name on the airline ticket, but for whatever reason to have the marriage certificate just in case. Has anyone traveled like this?

  13. Question:

Can I still still use my unexpired passport for international traveling?  I haven't changed it to my new married name, and it still has my maiden name. I may need to travel for work. I so far have my SSC, and drivers license with my married name, but I read I shouldn't have an issue if I take my marriage certificate (just in case).

Does anyone know how long it takes to get your visa back with stamp from the Dominican embassy?  We were put under administrative processing due to the embassy not submitting his medical results in time but we got that situated the following day last week on January 29th, our case was updated or touched on the 30th but his passport is still at the embassy.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated?  Thanks

We received my husband's 6 days after the interview and were notified via email that is was ready for pick up. We chose to pick it up at the Galeria 360, which seemed to be the fastest way to receive it.

Received this letter in the mail today.

I arrived in the States on 11/02/18

    I applied for a SSN on 11/15/18

Went back to the SSA twice on 12/20/18 and 01/07/19. Both times they told me that my application was still pending.

SAVE chase status said that my case was back at my local office long time ago.

    My I-94 expired on 01/30/19.

Gosh I am so over this, what shall I do?

    Try to fight it?

We received this same letter a week BEFORE my husband's 1-94 expired. I was so frustrated to know they had time to review, and send this letter, but not enough time to "issue a SSN" ***shrugs** So, same boat as you. 😫 We just wait now.
