Hi friends, we submitted the required documents needed for my Fiance after his interview but CEAC still says ready and only the date has been changed since after it went to the NVC stage prior to the interview. Am kinda confused why the date was updated after the embassy received the needed documents but it  still says  READY.

    Thank you all

My fiancé got a 221G and it went from AP to READY to Application received to AP to Issued.  This all happened within 3 business days time.

My fiance has his interview scheduled for the first Monday in March! I'm pretty happy.

Working with my mother to get the AOS filled out. Does my fiance need a copy of his bank records too or does that not matter? Seems like it is probably going to be 10,000 to request those statements from the bank.

The health check set us back 48,000 because he needed a vaccination as well. Ouch.

Congratulations! Not sure what the AOS has anything to do with the K1 interview but my fiancé didn't need to provide any bank statements or any proof of income because her income was not calculated in the I-134 because I (the petitioner) make enough to support her and her child.

  3. @Naes Hi quick question that I thought you might be able to answer, You were able to successfully reschedule your Interview appointment a couple of times... did you do it through the website or by calling?  Also, around what time were you checking?  I'm trying to secure an earlier interview appointment because the earliest they have currently is January 14th.

Thank you so much in advance for your help!

Well, just an update.  Interview is scheduled for Thursday and we are stressed and scared.  We're both not sleeping and we're snappy.  Today, she did her labs and fingerprints.  Tomm the medical exam.   I can't concentrate and work, it's pretty bad.   I sent her so much paper...I'm going to bury them in everything:  relationship evidence (about 25 pics, engagement ring receipts, hotel and flight receipts for the period from April - November (I've been just about every other month...average 6 weeks apart)  financial info (3 months paystubs, employment letter, 2 years of tax returns and W2), Intent letters.   She is an absolute wreck..she's not from Bogota and is alone in a hotel for 4 days.  I wish I could have gone to be with her, but tomorrow is an important day at my job and I just couldn't do it.  We would have scheduled for later, but there are no more appointments for this month.    Not worried about documents, she's just scared of the interview.   Sigh.

Good luck!  I'm sure everything will be just fine.

K2 question do I need to make a ceac profile for my future stepson? That is where we get the bank deposit slip to pay the visa fee in Panama. Our case is ready but we can’t do anything until we pay they wont schedule the interview. Thanks nina

We made just one.  Mind you this was for Japan but we were able to add my future stepson to the same profile and pay both at the same time.

Sorry for the wrong information. Sometimes my mind get behind my fingers and that's what you get. Incorrect information. Well now we know. Like Hank said it will get easier soon and that time you will be in control.

No worries Greenbaum, you have been very helpful throughout the process.  And just in-case anyone has this same question in the future, when my case got set from "In-Transit" to "Ready" in the ceac case tracker, that's when I was given the two numbers.

MNL won't be in the NOA2 .. you won't receive your MNL # until at NVC ...

MNL isn't issued until at NVC, so won't be on the NOA2

Thanks again Hank!  I was freaking out when I didn't see other numbers on my NOA2.

Case numbers are based on petitions.  One petition, one case number.  A case number can have multiple Visa applications based on one petition.  The consulate may not have understood what you were asking.

Thank you payxibka for taking the time to answer.  I was hoping this is true because I only have 1 number :(

You'll have one case number but with sub numbers for each person contained on the I-129f. So for instance the Embassy in the Philippines is MNLXXXXXXXXXX which would be mom the next number would be MNLXXXXXXXXXX XX (01) for a daughter/son and if you had another son/daughter they would be 02 etc. Look over your NOA2 it should be at the bottom.

Thank you for your response.  I don't see any numbers on the NOA2 besides at the top of it :( with the WAC number :(

Does any one knows, How many case numbers am suppose to get from the NVC for my fiancee and child? (My fiancee's child information and Docs were provide on the same i-129f form)

Hi There,  I know it's been a year but hopefully you'll get notified... did you get two numbers from the NVC?  I only got 1 number and now it's in transit from the NVC to the embassy but still only 1 number for my fiancé and not her child.

It's really not confusing. A K-1 visa is for a person that have met, and want to marry but the want to marry in the (in this case) USA. So in many cases it's a man who is a USC (United States Citizen) that wants to marry a Filipino woman and petition her (K-1) and her child (K2) to immigrate to the US with the intention of becoming a whole family.

So the K-1/K-2 is the visa type they have applied for.

Getting the case number which in the Philippines is referred to as the MNL#. The MNL signifies that it's the US Embassy Manila. To shave off about two months of waiting time, if they elect to wait for the NOA2 then it will be an additional two months average), then they call NVC and get the MNL# so they can get the process moving a little faster. In some cases they need to get a email notification for that would officially contain the MNL# hence the reason that they should email NVC and ask for the MNL# in a return email.

The MNL# (case number) will have include two extra digits on the end of the number to signify who the mother is and who is the child.

Many of the places that she will search for case updates will only ask for the MNL# with out the extra digits as it's not necessary to include them because the two cases, mother and child, are moving through the system together.

It's not really strange, it's just you are not familiar with the K-1 visa as I am not familiar with say F-1 or M-1 or any of the others. I am versed in the K-1/K-2 visa.

The numbers she needs from NVC is only the case number (MNL#) and they don't have anything to do with the invoice number (IN). IN comes after you pay your visa fee and it is what is referred to as the UID number, and is needed for the scheduling of the interview as it ties back to the visa payment made at the bank.

@Greenbaum Sorry to drudge up this super old post but I'm wondering if you remember when did you get the 2nd case number for the K2?  My case is currently in transit to the Embassy but I still only show 1 case number (my fiancé's son's name was listed on the petition) and I'm getting worried because the consulate said adding the child to the petition is done at the NVC stage..

My son could speak English pretty well. The school has helped him along the way and of course with his friends he speaks English all the time. His mother just told me over the weekend the he is forgetful with his native language and she is worried. So it can work both ways.

Your son is going to have a real challenge at his age but it can be done. The school will help but you also may consider a tutor. Sometimes you can find college students that are both Japanese and American and can speak both languages that could be a great tutor. That alone would be a great help in getting him help. I wouldn't let the language be a negative in any decision you make for his visa procurement.

Thanks for the information and advice Greenbaum, I really appreciate it.

You can do either way it makes NO difference. It's the convenience to you which will work for your family.

My step-son came with his mom in December and the school district was very accommodating. Two weeks into his new school he had made friends and was enjoying school so much he thought it would be a good idea to be on the A/B honor roll and has been every since.

I think it's easier if she were to come when mom comes. You avoid a return trip so soon and you won't have to deal with waiting on the GC to travel. JMHO.

Could your step-son speak English?  My soon to be step-son speaks no English and I am worried for him and his adjustment to the USA.  He's also a little older (14).

Hi everyone! Just found out we’re assigned to Tokyo by NVC when we received our case number last week. I have a question: do we have to translate every document that’s in Japanese if the interview is being conducted in Tokyo?

    Thanks in advance!

I thought you only need translations for the embassy stage if it’s in another language besides the native one where the embassy is located?  For example, if you’re going to the usembassy in Japan you don’t need to translate Japanese documents.

No, sorry. I always assumed it is at the same time as the primary beneficiary, but this specific is outside my field of experience or knowledge.

Personally, I would reach out the embassy/consulate again and explain that the child was listed on the I-129F and you are pursuing a K-2 visa for the child. Maybe they got confused and thought you were trying to petition for a child/stepchild directly (despite that being an I-130, and you having to be married already for them to be a stepchild) for a CR-2 visa?

thank you again for your value input.  I’m positive that the woman understood what I was saying but the information she was referencing was either wrong or she interpreted it wrong.  I believe it could be the latter.

  16. 4 minutes ago, geowrian said:

Nope, they're wrong. You cannot file an I-129F for your fiance's child. The I-129F is only for a fiance for a K-1...there is no option for their child. The child just needs to be listed on the I-129F.

Usually a dependent's case number is the same as the primary beneficiary's case number, except incremented (i.e. if MNL2018111222 is the primary beneficiary's number, then it's really MNL201811122202-01 and the child's would be MNL2018111222-02).

The child will need their own DS-160, though.

Thank you for the reply geowrian.  Do you know when I would get the second number?  NVC only gave me one number.

  17. Hi all,

we finally gotten our case number from the NVC but they only gave me one number.  I thought I was supposed to get one for my fiancé’s child as well?  Do I get another one later?

I called the USEM in Japan and the woman told me I needed to file a separate I-129F for the child is the normal process.  While the child’s name on my fiancé’s petition may suffice, it’s up to me to call USCIS to ensure that the K2 is added or I will need to start over... any truth to this?? We’re freaking out here..
