The embassy will upload everything that needs to be in her file. Don't worry, quite a few persons  went through the process with no problems.

Is there any official information about it on any of the government websites? Seems like this is a brand new process, but even the countries who participate in electronic processing and therefore do not require envelops anymore still have the information about envelopes requirement on their Embassy website. The thing is, if you go through CBP and the officer is unfamiliar with this new development they might turn you away because there is no official info about it. And that is troubling.

"Administrative Processing" means the Consular officer is reviewing the documents.

When it shows ISSUED, it means her visa is issued and be ready for delivery.

Typically, the embassy will keep the copy of documents, and return the original documents after the interview.

In case they said that they need to keep the original documents, when your mom gets the visa, she should check to ensure that they return original documents to her.

Thanks for the reply. I know there are different kinds of administrative processing - some take a few days to review, others might take months. If they needed to dig deeper into something, would they tell her that she was put in administrative processing or not? She got a white paper from the consul that says "your visa should be delivered within 5 days", no one mentioned anything else. I am just hoping her "administrative processing" is the fast kind where they review it for a few days and issue the visa.

  3. Hi everyone,

My mom just got her visa approved in Kyiv, Ukraine. She also was told that due to new electronic processing no more envelopes will be given, instead, all the information will be available for CBP officer to view online. She was not told to contact them will departure date, but I will notify them regardless just to make sure. My mom doesn't speak English, so I will probably write an explanation letter for the officer to read upon arrival.

Also, the embassy kept her original documents (mine and hers birth certificates as well as her marriage certificates) and she was told they will send them back together with the passport. Did this happen to someone else here? Is that due to the new processing ? I was thinking that maybe they needed originals to scan into the system to send electronically. The officer told her her visa was approved, she was not even asked any questions during the interview. I looked on ceac right away and it says "administrative processing", but as far as I know it is pretty common after visa approval, means they are printing it.  Any thoughts?

I missed the "CEAC" part of the question, sorry. No need to make harsh remarks...a simple point at the missing reference to CEAC suffices just fine, instead of making wild accusations.

Sorry if that offended you, the author mentioned CEAC in the topic line and in the body of the message where it clearly states "CEAC online". Nothing personal, I've read a lot of posts on this forum since I was looking for an answer to the same question and the majority of people from countries that only do mail processing provide the same information with 2-3 months estimation and many add something like "if you miss a document, add another 2-3 months because NVC will send you a request to resubmit". Hopefully if someone is looking for this information they will learn that CEAC online, email and paper processing take drastically different amount of time with CEAC online being the fastest.

After I submitted my documents via ceac It took 2 hours for me to get case complete. I then thought wow this is going to be easy. My cases where complete June 7th and no interview date yet.

I believe it depends on Embassy interview availability. Our home embassy (Kyiv) is usually not busy, visa appointments can be made within few days (obviously for immigration cases they will be made at least a few weeks ahead). I am still waiting for CC because the updated documents haven't been accepted yet.

I just got my e-mail from CEAC stating that my documents were accepted. They were accepted only 2 weeks after I submitted everything.

I don't know if this is normal (it seems like it happened really fast for me), nor do I know if there is a difference between visa types. I have a feeling mine was approved much sooner than the average from what others on VJ have been saying.

Just as an update in case someone is looking for this info. I got a reply within 5 days that docs were accepted, but needed to change a few things under AOS, so waiting for those to be updated. CEAC online processing is very fast, takes days, not weeks.

Assuming there are no issues with the paperwork, you are waiting for "Case Complete" (CC) from NVC. This typically takes ~2-3 months or so.

    NVC wiki: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process

Once you reach CC, they will schedule the interview. I'll defer to other members for the specifics with Australia in terms of how long that takes and the notification method (I would presume email but some embassies/consulates do snail mail still), and the medical aspects.

    :ot: Happy birthday!

Wish people would stop commenting on something they don't know about. The author submitted docs through CEAC online, it is not the same as email or paper mail processing, it takes several days usually, not weeks, it is much faster and only a few countries are allowed to use this kind of processing.

  8. Those of you who submitted their documents to NVC online (NOT email processing) through CEAC, how long were you waiting for your case to be completed and interview date set? I know only about 10 countries participating in online processing and there was a topic on VJ about it last year. Back then, looked like it took just a few days for them to review documents and close the case, but that thread wasn't updated for a long time, I wonder if someone has an up to date information about processing time

  9. Those of you at NVC stage petitioning for parents, when you were submitting online CEAC documents for IV application (DS-260), did you have to submit any civil documents, did you have them listed? Mine says "N/A", so I am not sure if I still need to send marriage/birth and police certificates, please advice.

PS our embassy is one of those who does electronic CEAC processing so I have to submit everything online.

  10. When submitting I-130, I sent USCIS civil documents with translations like birth and marriage certificates (copies of course with certified translations). Petition got approved and now I am at the NVC processing stage. My question is, will I need to submit all those documents with translations again? Or just the ones I didn't send with original I-130 submission like police certificate?

@MeredithNotGrey: Did you call to get the number or you got the welcome packet? My parents case was received by NVC on May 8th.

I called every week since I-130 was approved, they were telling me the same thing over and over: it takes 6-8 weeks and we will send you an email once your case number is available. I was planning on calling today, but got an email with invoice ID and case number. I did not get anything in the mail yet. I was told that my case will be one of those that go through CEAC, so all documents will be uploaded through NVC website, I will not have to send anything in the mail. Not sure if only selected cases go through this new process or if everyone is using CEAC now. I paid the fees today, now waiting for the payment to go through and will start working on AOS and DS-260 forms.

  12. Can someone please share how long it took NVC to review AOS and DS-260 after they uploaded those?

Also, I just got the case number today and paid the fees, next to "supporting documents" tab it reads "N/A". Does this mean that I will not have to submit anything but AOS and DS-260 or will that change after the payment is processes? A lot of supporting documents I sent with original I-130 petition, all the birth and marriage certificates, passport copies, etc. Is it possible that they won't need anything else from me but those two required forms? Thanks

Need some help please!!  My wife got her moms case number last week and we have paid both fees online and submitted the DS-260 application and working on getting the supporting documents uploaded.  The problem I am having is with the I-864 support application and how to best upload it. Because it needs a couple signatures and some of the questions wont allow me to simply type the answers in and upload I had to print, fill it out and have scanned to my computer. So  now I have 10 pages that need to be uploaded but you can't do it that way. It says they must be in one file and I'm having problems trying to figure out how?  Any suggestions would be great!!

Use https://smallpdf.com/merge-pdf, just combine all pages into one file

  14. For those of you who got approved by USCIS, how long did it take to obtain invoice ID from NVC? Petition got approved on 4/2, got the second notice on 4/6, just called NVC again today and they still didn't get it. I know they say it takes 4 weeks on the notice and NVC actually stated 6 weeks, but what was your timeline on that. It comes from Nebraska service center if that makes any difference. Thanks

  15. I finally got my mom's petition approved today (yay!). PD August 10, 2017, approval date 4/02/2018.

I have been searching here on many topics to see what the next NVC stage is, can someone please explain in a very short version what happens next? Do I just wait for NVC to contact me via email or wait for instructions, pay for visa, submit form I-864? If someone can just give a very short explanation of the next stage (or a link where I can find it) I will greatly appreciate it. Also, how long does the last stage usually take until the visa is in the passport. Thank you!

  16. Hi everyone, I petitioned for my mother on August 6th, NOA1 was August 10, 2017. Seems like a lot of petitioners here at NCS already got NOA2, even those who petitioned later than me. Called USCIS today, they said processing time is 9.5-11 months and that they now process end of April 2017 applications, but I've seen somewhere on VisaJourney that they already process August 14, 2017 for IR-5 category at NSC at the moment. Does anyone have any additional info about it?

"one proposal is to invalidate all pending petitions"..

Where did you get this information?  They would never do that, just the process of lawsuits demanding refunds for all pending (100s of thousands) cases would be enough, please refer to the wording of the present legislation pending:

"The White House would apply the new limits on family unification prospectively, continuing to process a backlog of hundreds of thousands of visa applications, many of which have been pending for more than a decade".

    http://www.latimes.com/politics/la-na-pol-trump-dreamers-20180125-story.html

the problem is people quoting online articles and not going straight to the source. I am not into politics and their lingo, but from what I understand from the bill it looks like they are indeed planning to cancel all of the pending petitions from USCIS and NVC levels if it passes. You can find that info in the official Securing America's future Act (H.R. 4760). Here is the quote:

"INVALIDITY OF CERTAIN PETITIONS AND APPLICATIONS

    (B) PENDING PETITIONS.—Neither the Secretary of Homeland Security nor the Secretary of State may adjudicate or approve any petition under section 204 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1154) pending as of the date of enactment of this Act seeking classification of an alien under section 201(b)(2)(A)(i) with respect to a parent of a United States citizen, or under section 203(a)(1), (2)(B), (3) or (4) of such Act (8 U.S.C. 1151(b)(2)(A)(i), 1153(a)(1), (2)(B), (3), or (4)). Any application for adjustment of status or an immigrant visa based on such a petition shall be invalid."
