  1. We have been waiting for 7 weeks for the interview appointment in Tokyo and on the night before the interview a category 2 Typhoon Trami sweeps through Japan and over Tokyo.  Due to the typhoon and and travel disruptions I had my fiancee travel to Tokyo on Saturday instead of Sunday and stay an extra day in Tokyo.  Good thing as travel out of the Osaka airports shut down Sunday morning and her original reservation was for Sunday afternoon.  The Typhoon cleared the Tokyo area about 4:30 AM Monday morning and my fiancee walked from her hotel for a 10:30 AM Monday interview appointment.  She was done at 11:30.

APPROVED.  We are overjoyed.  Visa arrives in about a week.  I have saved frequent flier points and will get her on a flight the day after her visa arrives.  285 days from NOA1 but well worth the wait.

Ty. Seems you reserved an interview date before you get P3. Please keep sharing us the rest of your journey.

Yes, you don't have to wait until you receive the P3 letter.  You can do it when your CEAC status changes to ready as the embassy has received it..

You must have your DS=160 complete and submitted to schedule the interview

When you refer to CEAC tracker are you just talking about the website link? Or is there an app?  How do you know when your case was last update.  No dates show on mine when I look up our number.

Still waiting on Packet 3 and they  sent ours out to our consulate on August 7.  I hoping to see the words “READY” this coming week.  Looks like some lucky couples get their packet 3’s or statuses changed to ready within 5 days.

The Website.  If you put in your NVC number it will return the status of the NVC case and with the status it will show Last Updated.  (it will not show it when in "At NVC " status but will start showing it when it is next touched moving to the "In Transit" status and it will periodically be updated after that each time they touch the case.)

Thank you for answering. I saw your medical was on 16th. Could you finish it without P3?

For the medical, all you need is a copy of the email sent from the NVC stating that they have sent the the package to the embassy.  That is sufficient proof.  Due to scheduling conflicts, Akiko has rescheduled her medical for this Wednesday 8/22/2018.

Update, I just received a text from my fiancee that the P3 letter has arrived.

Good luck on your journey.  Things happen much quicker now.

Shocked!  NOA2 7/31. Called the NVC yesterday 8/14. Not received yet. Called again today... Received and got NVC case number on the same day!   Is this unusual?

For us it was one day between received and number assigned.

As soon as the embassy in Tokyo receives your package from the NVC, set up your interview appointment right away after filing the DS-160.  We scheduled the first available for Oct 1 and when we scheduled that was more than 7 weeks away.  Medical is next week and we are checking everyday to see if an appointment opens up sooner.

  6. @Naes

I hope your wedding plans are progressing well.

Our status just went to Ready on the NVC status site so that means Tokyo has received the package.

My Fiancee has her medical appointment next Thursday, 8/16/2018.

I have a question about the interview date.

Did they originally include an appointment date in the package 3 or did you contact them to request an appointment? Or did you fill out an interview request form?  The interview request form seems to be found under the immigrant visa.  Is this the correct method?  I believe you said you changed the appointment twice so you probably have some insight to pass along.

Also, when is the visa fee paid?

    Thanks for all your help.

Good to know. Japan’s Embassy is still quite fast with sending packet 3 especially for Japanese applicants, so Hope that can reach you fast too.

you can always message me or tag quote me here if you have any questions :) (extremely busy with the wedding at this moment but I’m checking if I have any notifications every day)

I got an email with the letter 25 minutes before your response so the NVC was very quick.  Enjoy planning your wedding.  It is something we have not even thought much about as the unpredictability of the immigration timeline.  Maybe Vegas, LOL.

It should have reached you when it went to transit. It is an email from NVC comes with an attachment (I think k1-FTP). It usually goes to the petitioner as that is the address stated on the petition.

if this does not reach you, the embassy will send you the package with a copy of it, (in japan it gets to you in about 3 to 10 days) you can schedule it a bit far and then change it if necessary tho.

Thanks.  I will call the NVC today and see if they can send an email.  (I already checked all my spam filters and it was not there).😐

I just got off the phone with NVC.  They said I will receive an email and it can be delayed 1 or 2 days from when notification is seen on their website (they are probably batched and sent out all at once later).  I verified they had my correct email.

Now waiting.  I hope it arrives sometime today.

@Greenbaum thank you for the tag. (2 more days till poe!)

    @Akiko & Brad

    Hi

She can schedule medical with the NVC number, I’d suggest giving 10 day in between because she will need to show NVC mail at the medical which is sent in when the case goes to transit (just print it and take it with you),

Try to check my embassy review for tokyo, I wrote as detailed as I can and tag me if you need anything :)

We now have the case "In Transit".

Is the NVC mail you reference an email or physical mail item?  Does it come automatically or do I need to request it?  We seem to be ready to schedule medical and I would like to know before she makes the call for the appointment when she gets up tomorrow.

    Thanks

My NOA2s (website and paper copy) have the same dates as yours and I got my case number on 7/27.

Strange how the immigration process works isn't it?  I called every day since mid last week and not yet received was the response.  On 8/1 the response was received today.  You would think all NOA2 from the same day would make it to the NVC at the same time but that doesn't seem to be the case.

  12. Our case was received by NVC today.

    NOA1 12/20/2017

    NOA2 7/16/2018 (new website)

    NOA2 7/13/2018 (paper copy)

    NVC Receive (8/1/2018)

Hopefully the NVC case # in the next few days.  They actually said up to 8 weeks and to call back mid-September which is their standard canned speech but from Visa Journey I know it has typically only been taking a few days for fiancee visas.

Thank you so much for the detailed response!! I tried calling yesterday just in case you know. My NOA2 is dated July 20th so it might be too early to call since probably it hasn't even left USCIS but wanted to try. I'll try again today then, thank you!! And hopefully you get some news soon, I'm sure it will arrive either today or tomorrow! 😊

Since I talked to somebody today I will wait until tomorrow to call again.

The only other way to get the number other than calling is to wait until they notify you.  I however want to speed up the process though and get the medical scheduled for my Fiancee and they won't allow her to schedule it unless she has the NVC number.

I've read a lot in this threat but can't seem to find the answer. I've been trying to call NVC since yesterday (in the morning, in the afternoon, etc) but can't get a hold on anyone. They're busy all the time, so is it just me? Is there any other way to get my NVC case number? Or is it just the only way? I'll keep trying though, but want to make sure.

    Thank you!!!

Be sure to call 603-334-0700.  Press 1 for English and then 7.  After a wait somebody will come on the line and you can give them your WAC number.

I got through this morning but unfortunately they have not received the case yet from USCIS.  July 16 NOA2 so any time now (15 days so far).  Some lucky people have gotten an NVC number as quickly as 10 days.  The agent gives the standard response that it can take up to 6 weeks to receive but fortunately that seems to rarely happen.

If you get a recording that all agents are busy, just keep trying.  Sometimes I get that recording and just wait a few hours and try again.  When I have gotten through my waits have been 4, 25, 23, and 15 minutes.  The 4 minute wait was when I called early in the morning.
